Beautiful piano sound and nicely adjustable iPad keyboard, but some small bugs
I own a few other iPad piano apps. This is abosuletly the best sounding piano. Also, I use them all with the app keyboard that displays on the screen. This is the only one that lets me resize the keyboard incrementally enough and accurately enough to mimick a real keyboard octave size so my finger spacing is the same as it would be on a real piano. Update: I have been using this app with the built in keyboard for a few weeks now and I have discovered a few bugs. This piano is so realistic that a key sticks every now and then. Yip, you read me right. Every so often a key becomes inactive, as if it is stuck, like an old piano key. Also if you play too much too fast, the whole sound freezes every now and then. It is as if the buffer gets full and has to have a few extra seconds to clear. This was an expensive app to purchase, so I hope the developers will work out these bugs. If and when they do, I will update this review. Show more

    Best Piano on IOS. Period!
I’ve been playing piano over 40 years and have become very picky about piano sound. The Ravenscroft 275 really delivers! I don’t believe there is any hardware keyboard that sounds as good, including the expensive red one which everyone loves and it happens to be the only one in production which I like. But I don’t own one. I have the Ravenscroft 275 and a really nice 88 wood keyed controller. It’s a better sounding option for a fifth of the price. Yes, Ravenscroft 275 really IS that good! If you are used to bright pianos, it may sound dull and washy at first, especially if you are just trying presets which: I don’t use. But it’s so tweakable, you can make it not just brighter, but actually change the character via the timbre setting, making it sound more naturally brilliant. Anything can be overdone, but I’ll guarantee that inside there is that special tone you are looking for. And it is sometimes just a tiny timbre knob movement away from “good” to “WOW! That’s IT!!!” Don’t be afraid to tweak it. There’s golden tone in there, just waiting to be discovered. Then there’s the velocity curve which changes how it responds to just exactly where you need it to be. It DOES NOT matter if your controller has velocity settings! You can do it all to perfection right within the app. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m very excited about this app. I use it 2 hours plus daily and I have used it all the way back to iPhone 4s and IPad 2. It’s not supposed to run on those, but there’s another testament to the tweakabilty of the app. You can change buffer size and sample rate to allow to older platforms or clicking/ artifacts you may get on certain never ones. Trade off will be in a little added latency but it really does still sound absolutely stunning at 32 kHz!!! I’d choose this piano at that rate over most anything else at any bit depth and sample rate. YES… I really would! Show more

    Comparing piano programs
Of the 3 piano programs I currently have, IGrand, CMP and Ravenscroft, I have to sat this one was my personal favorite. All these programs have their “star piano” and each is good for its own setting but overall for sound, playability and simplicity this one is what did it for me. Like another user stated it is good but needs minor improvements. Update the reverb and make the piano sample like 500 mb larger or more. It would then be the top overall app. Show more

    Please fix immediately
The app doesn’t play anymore due to the latest apple update. I know it’s not your fault just giving you guys a heads up.

The standard for clean piano tone.
Plenty of adjustability makes it fairly easy to fit in a mix and does quite well solo. Nice dynamic response and provides a good hands to ears feel. I have all the piano apps. This one and Colossus are my faves. The latter has a bit more character but not as tweak-able and is rather quirky. Most projects get to try both; Ravenscroft gets the spot most often. Show more

Great buy for 10% of the cost of the full suite
Definitely my favorite budget piano VST that I own. Fits very well with the fatar feel of the sl88 grand from studiologic.

    Temper your expectations
First, temper your expectations. I come from the world of multi-sampled piano libraries and stage pianos. Remember this is an iOS app. For that, it’s great. Some updates that would help: 1) Release samples or updated release envelope. Especially when using a sustain pedal, this sometimes is quite jarring. Smooth out the release or add ADSR controls. 2) Increase polyphony OR use better note-stealing algorithms. My workstations have been able to give low-note priority for years now. You can code this. Don’t be lazy. 3) Smoother velocity timbre transitions. There’s quite a jump in timbre between certain velocities. Either adding one more velocity level (it appears you’re trying to stay under a GB, but I’m sure there’s a way) or selecting a slightly different set of samples that blend better. 4) If we can’t control (3), give us a little better control over the way midi is handled by the app. If I’m using this in AuV3 on stage as part of a multi-timbral setup, I cannot adjust my controller’s midi data for just this one part… nor should I really like to adjust my hands to match this program’s midi decoding. Bottom line, for an app, this is still one of the best. A few tweaks and you can be better than great. Maybe make an “iPad” version that can handle a bit more processing or resource demands?
