At first I noticed that WRTI was a classical station in HD. I’ve been in love with ever since. With good earphones or excellent speakers, the quality of sound is immediate and obvious. The nuances of expression between soloists and even the variations between different instruments, e.g., violin to violin sonorities, are accessible. That said, I’m also enjoying the diversity of classical music presented and the wide range of orchestras and instrumentalists who say things with individuality. My only wish is that more antique recordings might be added to regular programming, such as Rachmaninov playing his piano concerto, or anything performed by Reiner conducting the CSO which was composed of soloists who played their hearts out in Scheherazade. In conclusion, WRTI is my favorite for listening to classical music, and the sound is exemplary. I highly recommend it to one and All! Show more

Outstanding when working properly. Recently the setting for jazz has not been playing. In order for it to play jazz I had to click the classical icon. I will have to close and re-open the app several times in Sunday mornings because the music would just stop. Programming is terrific… that’s what keeps me fighting to make it work. Show more

Classical & Jazz…. Magical!!!

Playlist section needs revamping and streamlining. Not terribly user friendly. IPad version needs to make better use of space. I could go on but this kind of advise doesn’t come cheep. Consult a UX expert. Content-wise, this is a great station. I can’t believe that a city with such a rich musical history would only have one jazz radio outlet. But the one they have is GREAT! I enjoy the constant variety. And distinctive musical settings that are presented. The word eclectic comes to mind. When I am listening. And seem to be lost in the music. With admiration for the texture of composer and interpreter alive.It is such a rewarding experience. Show more

A primary reason I listen to WRTI is to better understand and appreciate classical music. But WRTIs canned playlist does not show all the performers of a piece…seldom are conductors listed. If you miss the beginning or end announcement, or if the announcer mumbles, you can’t find who performed it online…very frustrating…knowing the performers is very much part of the enjoyment of listening to and thinking about the music. WQXR in New York precisely lists all performers. Why can’t WRTI do the same. WRTI comes off as an amateur station. Show more

Love everything about this except the amount of data it uses: roughly 240MB for 45 minutes. Other station apps use less.

The station is five stars. I’m more ambivalent about the app…. about a week ago, it wouldn’t open, so I had to delete and re-install it. Things are better now.

I’m a member and a loyal listener. The app has allowed me to listen from anywhere. I really appreciate that.

Commercial garbage

I am so glad WRTI has an app! I put the radio on for my little beasties ( boy cat brothers) during the day while I’m working. It actually seems to make them calmer. Until last week reception was good on my old fashioned radio. I then noticed it would get staticky and sound terrible if I moved anything in the room! So I looked on the apple app store and BAM! there it was!!!! Now both me and the boys can stream the amazing curated sounds of WRTI - classic, jazz… it is all very soothing. Thank you!!!! Show more
