    Might be my favorite Iceworks
But they’re all good! Get them all now!

    Awesome Lead Synth
While Lorentz makes great analog sounds, Redshrike makes some really neat leads, basses, and even distorted pads thanks to the fm and versatile filter!

now with microtuning: So. Much. Awesome.
I don't know if I should say this out loud, because iceWorks is a one-dev show, but what a responsive and hard-working show they are! I asked for custom tuning.. and within a couple of months, here it is! Redshrike is my favorite of all the iceGear/Works synths: like the others, it takes an approach that is relatively unique in iOS synths--physical modeling of resonant bodies--and takes it right up to its screamiest, dirtiest, scariest limits. Resonant modeling is under-explored as it is, and iceWorks is filling in a very large gap and doing it very well. Redshrike has a vast range: from sweet, quiet, percussive bell-like sounds to enough monstrous infinite sustain feedback saturation and crunch to make men faint, women cry, and the rest of us jump up and down in sheer joy. The early versions had some glitchy AU problems, but as far as I can tell those are all worked out now. I'm running iOS 9.3 on an iPad Mini 2, and Redshrike is reliable and just as loud as I need it to be. It runs great in AUM, as a standalone, and in Audiobus. And now we can play with just intonation, meantone scales, Pythagorian scales--any twelve-tone scale we want. Me, I'm never turning this thing off. Show more

    Deep and distinct
I’m just diving into this, but it’s a winner — it has its own character, distinct from either analog or FM synths. The resonator is unusual and I’m still trying to wrap my head around what it does. So many interesting bits like the pitched, digital and glitch noise styles; the deep filtering options in the delay; and the most customizable arpeggiator I’ve ever used. This is a steal at $8. Thanks for Audio Unit
My GarageBand on iPad loves this. Also great to have an arp working as a plugin

    Nice low-footprint synth
Iceworks has made some nice iOS apps, starting with the excellent Cassini, and offer this very affordable polyphonic synth for a few bucks, occupying only a few MB of storage space. The patch selections and sounds, however, are a little limited, and I'm not a fan of the separate offerings for iPhone and iPad (the later of which has not arrived at the time of this review). You can certainly use the iPhone version on iPad, but a universal app is pretty standard practice nowadays. Still worth a look given the affordability and sounds. Show more

Broken, unusable due to audio dropouts :(
Great set of features but it's not usable as a musical instrument because of persistent audio dropouts. I'm using it on an iPhone 7 plus, so it's not a matter of having an older, slower device. I hope this can be fixed soon as I'd like to be able to use it and I'm a fan of iceWorks' other music apps, particularly Cassini which I've used constantly ever since it came out - it's one of my favorite iOS synths and doesn't have the same audio issues. Once it's fixed, it would be great to have an iPad version. Show more

    Great synth!
These guys make quality apps. Definitely a unique character to their synthesis. MIDI and sync implementation is excellent.
