    One of my top favs
Though it looks like a simple synth at first glance, it can deliver a good range of sounds. I wouldn’t say it’s my fav synth as it’s hard to judge, but it’s definitely in a group of my faves. Efficient, has a character, easy/pleasant to use, good sound quality, good presets management (can create banks and rearrange slot-based patches). Has AUv3. Another excellent synth from these guys is Magellan 2, both are must-have, imho. Very pleasant to use, feels like hardware. Show more

    Great Presets
I love the presets and the filter pads are easy to use!

    Modulation
How do you define Mod control 1-4 in the modulation matrix?
  • GrahamBablam, 28.12.2019
    Powerful, stable and rich.
Kauldron is an incredible synthesizer! Three OSCs, an arpeggiator, extensive effects and modulation capabilities... look, it’s $10. Buy it.

    Poly Aftertouch Dream
An amazing app from very a talented developer. Works fantastic with my Kurzweil MIDIBoard. The sounds are all very distinctive in an interface that is at once intuitive and powerful. Show more

    Realistic Analog Sound
This synth has a very expensive sound quality, one of the best on the appstore. Just amazing!

    Yes!!!
Guitars, organs, Kauldron, and magical connotations. Tobacco is good company to keep!

Still no fix for the AUv3 bug
Kauldron is a great standalone iOS synth. Unfortunately, it’s effectively useless as a plugin due to a bug that I reported over a year ago. When loaded as an AUv3 (I’ve tried it in BeatMaker 3, GarageBand, NanoStudio 2) with a MIDI keyboard connected over Lightning, Kauldron doesn’t conform to the standard behavior of only receiving MIDI notes when its track is selected. Instead, it receives notes regardless of the current track. So if you record a bass line with Kauldron and then try to record a lead with Zeeon, Model 15, or any other AUv3, your lead also triggers notes on Kauldron. As I said above, I reported this bug over a year ago, and never received a response. It’s disappointing because Kauldron sounds great! I’d love to use it in my iOS production, but I can’t with this workflow-breaking bug. Show more

    Strange behavior, no tech support
I adjusted the filter, including the adsr to something approximating a brass sound, with Osc 2 and 3 off. Then I applied some glide and suddenly the sounds became low volume beeps and there was no way to recover, no reset to default seems to exist, couldn’t find it in the manual either. Exit the app, leave it alone for 24 hr, and it seems fine, glide works the way it should. After reading the manual, which is more of a list than explanation, I got more ambitious and added the other Oscs, fooled around with the second set of adsr and drift and voices, things seemed to work, although the second adsr set is a bit weird. I had written to Yonac about Kauldron a week before, got no form reply nor tech support. I think I could rate this app four if I thought there was any support. I haven’t tried presets yet but I think I will have to, because the app certainly doesn’t load with your last settings, in fact some knobs are not where you would think they would be and others have stayed where they were. Default behavior and reset are not in the manual, nor is there a a good discussion of all adsr behavior. The filter settings don’t have any meaningful indices that I can see, you don’t know where the resonance is, and there is only one (steep) roll off so you really can’t do brass effectively. EDIT: I have again used the Yonac website contact form and received no acknowledgement or response, so I have to conclude that there is NO tech support, so I have reduced my rating to one star, because you can’t do no stars. Second EDIT: I actually got a response after two days, to my 3rd email, but the tech seems not to have read the manual. I have replied but don’t have much hope for a real answer. Third Edit: I have written to Yonac at least four times, and received one reply mentioned above, so I really can’t understand all the rave reviews, the ADSR is goofy and uncalibratable, for instance if you set what you would think is a very short attack and set what Yonac says is a high amplitude, it takes seconds for a tone to reach peak. This is ridiculous. Fourth edit: There is no version history, there is no tech support, I have to believe this app has been abandoned. You can not get into the Yonac forum on iOS, but I have posted from my Mac and there have been a few views but no response, so I have to think that it didn’t sell, and that some of the problems I have described have been experienced by other who also got no response and deleted the app. I am not ready to give up on it, but I am absolutely you can not synth brass adequately, because the adsr is crazy, the cutoff is way too steep, and you can’t place the resonance with any certainty. There does not seem to be a brass instrument in any of the many presets , which would seem to make my point. I notice there are only a few developer responses in the reviews and they are all canned. Needs updating
Midi learn functions not saved. Am I missing something? Sometimes glitchy

    Great little synth
Sounds nice, controls laid out well... but above all for me it runs like a dream as an a AU plug in in Cubasis. Low cpu hit, GUI is easy to access. Thank goodness Yonac showed how it should work! I haven’t been able to record the movements of the XY pads as automation in Cubasis yet ... not sure if it’s not supported within Kauldron, or if something else is in play. But if you are trying to go all AU and get rid of all the IAA / routing headaches then try this. Let me play around a bit mote and see if the extra star is forthcoming! Show more

    Omg cyber Monday
Whaaat? $$ insane cyber Monday deals! The Yonac synthesizers sound incredible! Magellan, Kauldron and Kaspar are iOS must-have synths. Just paid eight bucks for all three sonic powerhouses. Ableton Link provides sync for controlled analogue mayhem. Thank you Yonac ???? Show more

    .... A Beast Synth ??????!!!
I been using Yonac synth for a few years now , very complete suite for music ? production , especially if you are looking for mobility. Magellan is my favorite of all , Kauldron and Kaspar are powerful enough but - the don’t have a sequencer , Magellan does . Very easy to create Unique Samples and send them via email to Desktop DAW. I also miss the browser download which Magellan has , much simpler to send for large audio files . The SPAWN feature is a Beast ??? I been creating original effects for my Trance Music ? project in a Breeze. I hope Yonac bring a DrumMachine , PAD Launcher and DAW to their product line. Show more

I misjudged this synth. Its brilliant (rewritten review)
First off I respect Yonac immensely and always support their products. Tonestack and magellan are two of my most used apps. They run brilliantly, sound amazing and are incredibly cpu efficient. Kauldron is definitely going for a very punchy, detuned and saturated sound --which if that's your bit then I think you'll be very pleased indeed. The tone sounds more "aggressive" than magellan. I misjudged this synth at first and didn't realize how deep it was. Really blown away and it offers stuff sonically that I didn't realize as brilliant at first. Now my complaints. Magellan jr had a much larger sonic palate in my opinion. The patches in kauldron (including my own experimenting) sound more niche to me. Also most patches sound as if they're going thru a cab simulator which could be a bad or a good thing depending on what you want. The other thing is magellan had more options in terms of fx and also multiple filters routing etc. But it is a different beast that I have grown to love in a different way. Still hoping for megallan 2 tho! The other complaint is that the new spawn has a basic mode with no PAD, LEADS, BASS options and then a very confusing somewhat unpredictable advanced mode. Not really sure what any of the controls or modes mean even after using tutorials. Autonomy vs variation? Please relabel All around this this synth can produce some really unique sounds I haven't really heard anywhere else. Keep em coming yonac! Show more

Fail, if you use a iconnectivy interface
I have a lot of synth apps, and they all work with iconnectivity....except this one. So it’s worthless to me. If they convince me it does work, then prove it and I’ll change my rating. Show more

    The best Yonac synth
Why? Lots of great presets, Spawn2, not overly complicated interface, great sound, AU, awesome arp. My go-to synth these days.

    Awesome.
Everything by Yonac is superb. Stop reading and buy it.

Both Magellan And Kaspar are better
Overhyped... Uninstalled. I own every Yonac app and IAP... You can skip this one unless you like the idea of the Yonac sound sans what it’s other synths bring to the table but.with AU thrown in (even the Randomizer on this one isn’t as good as the one on Magellan... or maybe it’s just that it has less to work with). Wow! I FINALLY found an Alchemy replacement!
... and I like this better than Alchemy!!! So, I am one of the hundreds who are not a big GarageBand fan and feel like they ruined my go-to synth when they acquired Alchemy. Since then I’ve been looking for a replacement or alternative. I only learned about this app when I saw Magellan in an N-track Studio midi tutorial. Luckily, I found it for iPhone as Magellan Jr. and grabbed it right up. Curious, I had to check out the other apps from this designer. The video demo on the app page for Magellan sold it for me. I’ve bought it and fell in love with it in minutes. I am so over Alchemy now that I’ll never use it again now that I have Magellan!’n Show more
