I have studied and played guitar for many years and would rate myself as an intermediate player. I primarily play blues and ballads and frequency use alternate tunings such as open tunings for slide guitar and DADGAD and similar tunings for ballads.. What initially drew me to Fret Zealot is the ability to practice scales and to develop fretboard maps for alternate tunings. While one can use apps and books for this purpose there is nothing as good as having the information directly on your own fretboard. I have been able to create new licks and phrases much easier than trying to transpose notes from a book to a fretboard. And this same feature will help a new player whether in standard tuning or not. It is one of the best guitar learning devices I have found - wish it was available those many years ago when I started on the guitar! I understand that the huge list of songs includes many in alternate tuning and the notes and chords for these songs are shown on the fretboard. FZ does not yet show all chords in alternate tunings but FZ is working on this feature and expects to include it soon in the software. In addition to having a great product FZ has the best customer service of any company i have dealt with. They are responsive, professional and courteous and have helped me with every question I have asked. A special mention to Shaun and Shane who spent much time with me by email and phone. I chose to purchase one of the guitars on the website to insure a professional install and I am very satisfied with guitar and the installation. I highly recommend FZ for any level guitar player. It has pretty lights and it’s super slick! Really recommend it anyone trying to learn the guitar

I don’t have time for lessons so I ordered FZ to see how I could learn from home. The last year has been amazing. The songs made learning fun and the courses were literally hands on. Spent the money for the hardware from Amazon. Of course that’s not free, understandably. Downloaded the app, and the only thing I’ve found to be free is the free trial. Wasted time and money buying the hardware, and installing it. Show more

I have had my Fretzealot for about a year now. A few months ago, my led strip had a part of it die. I emailed the support and got a response the next day. Shaun had me do some troubleshooting, like making sure everything was plugged in properly. After the troubleshooting was complete, the section of leds still did not light up. Shaun pulled up my previous order and let me know that my warranty was not expired. Shaun got the right sized led strip sent off to me. After a few months, Shaun sent me a follow up message to see how everything was working. This is amazing customer support. I have never had this level of support on any product before. Show more

I love FZ because instead of being locked into a beginners path it’s an entire organized library of video lessons either on songs or courses of any technique. I’ve leveled up a lot in my playing! I just used to noodle around before. Show more

I could not be happier about purchasing and using the Fret Zealot. I started learning and playing guitar about 2 years ago and the Fret Zealot has helped me out immensely. Learning chords,scales and songs is made very easy in my opinion. With a great library of instructional videos and songs that are available and the ability to learn and digest them at my chosen pace is awesome. Lastly their customer support is second to none. The couple of questions I’ve had since purchasing my Fret Zealot have been answered within 15 minutes of me sending an email to support and getting back the answers I needed. This is the best way to learn guitar! I love it!

There are many of toys that claim to help you learn but nothing is like playing an actual high quality instrument. This gadget makes the whole learning process a joy. The lights are actually kind of fun even when you don’t need them anymore. Really useful feature for finger placement lights perfectly synced up while watching tutorial videos. Brilliant. Show more

I have wanted to learn to play the guitar since I was a kid. I was not one of those who are gifted and can just simply pick up the instrument and go. I have tried many things over the years such as instruction manuals, internet sites, etc. I have always come away frustrated. Over the years I was either too broke or too busy to take lessons. Now I’m in my fifties and I still have the desire to learn. When I came across Fret Zealot I was intrigued. I decided to give it a try and I have been totally satisfied. Learning the guitar is hard work, but this program takes you from total novice through advanced playing. The instructional videos are simple and the LED system resolved the issue I have had with finding my finger placements. It’s made so many things easy and allows me to focus on muscle memory, reading chords, strumming, timing, etc… I love this product! It was easy to put on the guitar and it syncs perfectly to my IPhone each time. Show more

I’ve just purchased Fret Zealot and as a Professional Engineer, I give the Fret Zealot system 5+ stars. The hardware portion (the LED strip) was very easy to install (watch the YouTube video on installing the LED strip. It helps out greatly with visualizing the install). And after the install, the Fret Zealot on my Apple phone hooked up to the guitar with no issues. And the software! One word…WOW! Excellent for lighting up notes, chords, and best of all (at least for me, personally!) are the scales! Any of the scales mentioned in the numerous music literature can be shown directly on the guitar! It has helped me tremendously with understanding the partnership between the scales! My wife and I have Had the Fret Zealot for over a year. Installed it on a Guild GAD-50 acoustic. East to install and loving all the new content.

The developers are putting out constant update and it’s adding new features all the time!
