2023 WOTJA IS OUTSTANDING AND WORTH IT
I have purchased WOTJA each year it has been released and was somewhat hesitant about adding the 2023 version as previous annual changes were good, but small in terms of the step up from the last year’s version. After just a few hours exploring the 2023 version, I am thoroughly convinced it was worth it. For those of you thinking about jumping in the pool, my sincere recommendation is jump in and enjoy the journey. Show more

Where has this been since ambient scoring?
Perfect for the scoring of any whole art, or as good brainwave entrainment drone tones

    Reduced time limits?
Lite version now has 5 minutes?, when it had 30 minutes? Lite+ now has 15 minutes? This is an improvement? I don’t think so. - guitarman8657.

    Great! Amazing! Love it!
I've looked at quite a few music generators. There are some inexpensive ones, some good ones, and even a few great ones, but none were good (much less great) AND inexpensive until I found Wotja! Wow!!! This thing is solid, and it's many years of development shows in every respect. Plus, it generates astonishingly good output at any level of control you desire. Get it! You won't be disappointed. :-D Show more

    pretty unsure about this app.
I went with the iOS version because I’m at my OS limit on my desktop and after just 6 to 8 minutes of playing around with it, my iPad got so hot to the touch that I immediately trashed the app. Show more

    Amazing app and platform!
I have been using this app for a multitude of things since 2009 when it was Noatikl. It's amazing. Super easy to use, great for generative ideas either via MIDI or in-app. It's incredibly intuitive and easy to get started, but also very deep. It always seems like there are new corners to explore, and with scripting you can make your own corners! Can't recommend enough! Show more

    Time limit
The app is very cool and it has good music but the music will only play for a limited time. I would have liked the music to repeat endlessly in a loop. Show more

The best ambient music you didn't know about
I was reccomended Wotja from a friend and in the week I've had it I've used it a little less than listening to pre-made music. The fact that you can make non-repeating musical phrases for free is mind-boggling to me. It's an amazing app and it's helping me discover a whole new world of synthesis that I didn't know exlisted. Thanks Wotja! Show more

    Complex, maybe too much so
Even the free version is extremely rich and complex, but honestly if you are not a professional audio mixer/musician/song writer, you will not get much out of this. And unfortunately even the tutorials are almost impossible to get through. If the developer wants to expand their customer base, they need to hire a professional user manual writer and make this app accessible to more casual users. After 2 hrs of frustration, I uninstalled it. Show more

    Refreshing!!!!
First of all, the developer(s) are amazingly responsive, helpful, patient, kind, and enthusiastic. Communication is a pleasure. I've used the predecessor of this unique app in the past (Liptiki) and loved it. I've also briefly checked out Wotja last year. Sadly, I was overseas and blew up my MacBook. For the past several months I missed playing with this software! Wotja is a totally different format, so it might take a couple launches for the workflow to sink-in. It's not a DAW (digital audio workstation). It's an otherworldly environment that helps inspired creativity . . . especialy within it's melodic ambient wheelhouse. Of course, users are not trapped on this new planet. We are able to use Wotja as a sketchpad and then continue developing in a DAW, if one so desires. At the very, very least . . . this app breaks through creative blockage and is FUN to use after climbing over a little learning curve. For the price . . . FREE . . . you can't beat this. I've got my eyes on the paid version for the enhanced features. Tommy Zai gives this two thumbs up. Show more

    RESPONSIVE Developer(s)
RE 3: I am mad becase no matter what I do or try to do more is wrung from me than I produce. I am mad because it happens to people less abled, and less articulate, people less vocal than me. I am angry because profit first, profit period, is the only model the world seems to honor, unless it's spite and bullying, or simple gluttony. Something wthin your app appeared to be an arbitrary limitation while I was tring to explore. Then there was a splash window asking how I liked it and the request for feedback was directly on the heels of the annoyance. Then I found a time limit at the same time I found a track(?) limit. Then I found that all the other sounds are locked unless I surrender money. Everything is a walled garden and those of us without the resources to render the entry fee will forever be locked out. And it's getting significantly worse. As Apple continues its march to greed as pure energy, and every other business and manufacturer follows their lead, the technoloical divide, like the wealth divide, opens to a vast chasm that the disabled, the elderly, and the unlucky simply aren't ever going to bridge. The bets we'll be able to hope for is a quick end as we are swallowed and consumed. It isn't your fault, it isn't your responsiblity. I get all that. I'm not mad at you personally. I'm not mad at your company. I'm mad a reality and a situation that your program's limitations, and queries reminded me of. The limitiations and exclusions I suffer regularly, that other disabled, poor, and/or unlucky people suffer every day were smashed in my face while I was tring to learn what your program does, and how it works, and whether or not it's something I could employ in my own creations. I didn't assume anything. I looked up your company and there are a few artciles out th ere. There's a linked-in page. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. The e-mail would have worked, the window is still open. Best Regards. editorial: Moved hostile title to body of review and corrected a spelling error. RE 2: Whatever: there ya go. Five stars! 2 bucks is 20% of my income, and .00-something-4 the 2.5 MILLION VC money you got to play with. Huzzah for you! Not your problem for sure, and it's neat that your litle company can do that. Not everone can. While bigotry and pettiness eat me live in Indiana because it's legal for bigots to financially curb stomp someone they don't like, or who has a lifetsyle or even an opion they don't agree with, keep dishing out your snark. I'm sure at least someone will find it funny and enjoyable. Heck, maybe another company or someone can get in a few rib kicks before I'm completely gone. Original Title: Offensively Agressive with Limtis and Feedback Demands Original Review: It's a real turn off when faced with contributing to something that doesn't nag, harass, or limit me vs something that does. Generosity, would go a LOOOOONG way here. How do I even know this would be something I'd even use with the limtiations you're choking the product out with? I'll pass. Thanks and all, but I can create my own generative devices witin Ableton, Reaper, Logic, Reaktor, VCV Rack, and more. Of all those mentioed, Reaper and VCV Rack are more likey to get my money. Make something people want to pay for, and some of us most definltely will. Stop wasting supporter money on "protecting," your "intellectual property." It's an impossible task and you're just peeing in the faces of those who DO give you money. Show more

    Very confusing
The aplication is very good quality but its also very confusing and dosn’t explain how to use it or what differant things mean. Over all its a good quality app if you know what you’re doing. Show more

Try it ... your mind will expand!
The problem with Wotja ( only joking..) besides the name, is that it does a LOT. It can be as simple as opening it, selecting a preset and listening to ever changing ambient , electronic music... or you can dig into it’s deeper structure of tracks which compose using different strategies according to probabilistic sets of rules which control every musical parameter you can think of, a whole lot of sound design ( there’s a very capable modular synth built in ) and if you are into music technology there’s MIDI output and control of MIDI parameters too. And ... not to mention some animation stuff and converting text phrases to music ... so I won’t. Moving from the first step to the next can be a challenge, but the devs have been working hard over the past few years to continually update and refine. I think in 2020 it’s getting there. My advice is to just get the basic subscription for a couple of months and start experimenting. The free version will let you hear the “kind of thing” Wotja” composes... but the limitations will end up confusing you. Once you need a manual it’s all there on line in more detail than you expect! You can even move to the desktop if you want...when the overall iOS music production implementation eventually cracks you! The devs are very responsive and very nice. There is nothing like this out there... and believe me I’ve looked. Sure, sometimes the GUI feels a bit unwieldy, sometimes I wish there was more built in selections of useful rules and probability sets ( to get going more quickly ), but as I said things are developing ( thanks for the Pattern Editor! ) Other than hurting your mouth trying to say the name you have nothing to lose. Try it out. ? Ps the dev even reached out to make sure I could pronounce “Wotja” correctly! How’s that for support... and now I can! ? Show more

    Generative/Modular/Expansive
Wotja can be as simple as a visual and auditory experience that mixes written words and generative music. Wotja includes many pre-generated mixes and makes it easy for you to create random mixes with just a a couple touches. Wotja can also be a very deep modular environment where you can edit every aspect of your music and sound parameters. The music engine is very adaptive with rules and settings that you can set for how each part plays. The sound engine is where you get your hands dirty building and editing your modular “synth” creations using sound/tone sources, FX units, controllers and routing junctions. I don’t think I’ll ever get to explore all of Wotja’s features, but I do learn new things every day with the help of Intermorphic. Anytime I hit a wall, it gets knocked down pretty quick with explanations for those little things that aren’t readily apparent to me. If you are brave enough to take the dive into Wotja’s vast generative and modular music environment, understand that you have a vast amount of control and there is probably a setting that you can tweak to make your creation sound just the way you want. Superb package for ambient music creation
Wotja a complete package for the creation of ambient, generative music. Offering complete and comprehensive control of all parameters, it makes possible gorgeous, ambient music. As someone who has been creating this kind of music for a while, Wotja enables me to achieve my vision in ways no other software can. The monthly subscription model is a total steal; if you need support, it’s fast, technically sophisticated, and patient. The latter is important as I think I have asked every dumb question I can about the software. The support people are unfailingly friendly and very helpful. If you have the ambient gene, this package is for you, Show more
