    ChordUp -Play Chords App
Friend, What an incredible app! i'm having a blast with it. I'm always looking for some new interesting instrument thats simple, but fun.. its is pure genius in its approach, ease of use. Absolutely brilliant! I love the fact you have three different "types" of instruments included, Pad, String, and whatever that other one was, all cool. What really makes this app shine is the MIDI out, which I effortlessly send into synth apps, etc (Im relatively new to MIDI, so u made it real easy for the user to make a midi connection). Im having the most fun with sending the midi out to Korg Module and also to the Pure Synthesizer app, select a dreamy layered synth, set your app to sustain the notes and WOW! I thought I was in heaven hearing the angels playing an arpeggiated synth guitar. I was going to wait till Black Friday to see if it went on sale, I got apps mixed up and ended up paying full price. I'm not the least bit dissapointed, Son, you deserve every penny for such a well developed, well conceived app. I donr mind paying top dollar for stuff that works. Blessings! Basic function of saving presets missing by design
I agree that it is very easy to change chord qualities but if you play different songs chances are that it will be different for the next. Doesn’t make musical sense to have to change chord qualities every time you play a new song. No Auv3 or you would be able to work around in something like AUM. There is IAA but that has loading issues. It will not save different song settings so not a work around but it does give more midi routings. You are stuck with the note order and even though you song doesn’t have some of the chords. Chord boxes are too small to play without looking at the screen. I want a refund but maybe the developer will update so I look at it as funding development. Hope this app is not abandoned like so many other similar apps. Looks like the reviews are phones as even when filtered by most critical they are 5 stars. I doubt my review will get published. Show more

    Amazing! One request…
This app is great fun! I’m loving the ability to strum my various synth apps with midi out! It’s so fun to use if you treat it like a live instrument. My one request for the dev would be to add Haptic Touch for the newer iPhones. The app C. ARP does this very well, and kind of plays the same as the “Expression Performance Mode” in ChordUp but unfortunately that app, although great in its own right, doesn’t have midi out. It seems kind of trivial, but there’s something about having that extra dimension that really makes you feel like you’re playing an instrument. It would make this already incredible app that much more amazing to me! Show more

    Fantastic! But...
Hello Dmitri, I love this app! The biggest obstacle is it is not AUv3 or even split screen and no MIDI OUT. Might we see that as an update? Thank you!

    Prompt app support
I was having trouble because even when I had chord locking on, any adjustments to the chord reset when I play a different chord. Dmitry helped me realize that the reason it wasn’t working was that my Threshold (inside the Chord Locking setting) was all the way up. That resolved the issue, all within a couple hours of leaving my feedback here. Two features I would really like: - To be able to set any button to any chord, allowing me to play, for example, a G and G7 chord without changing a button back and forth mid-song. That would increase the functionality of this app for me by quite a bit. - To be able to save these custom chord layouts. I’d use this app all the time with these changes. I’ve honestly been looking for an app that allows music to be made like this for a long time, and I’m so happy it exists. Show more

    Nice! But, please...
Wonderful app, but: 1) I am not a fan of this new grey UI and app icon. Would be great if you could choose to roll back to blue one. 2) I really need an option to name each of the pads or bars with their names accordingly to the chords used. Like A3, G4 and such. Thanks a lot! Show more

A really well thought out but simple to use interface
I am a lifelong musician and former professional. This is truly an original idea that is clever and effective!

Beautiful simplicity, an instrument in its own right
Chordup offers the ability to quickly select any of 108 chords (9 for each root note) by swiping with one finger and playing the notes of the selected chord on one of 3 different playing surfaces which change their note layouts according to the selected chord. You can effortlessly play quick arpeggios, dense block chords or anything in between. It's also possible to explore melodies by playing one or two notes and quickly shifting the selected chords which then change those notes under your fingers. Get passable strumming effects by engaging the sustain button. The beauty of it is that only the chords are labeled, the notes are not, nor is there a scale lock. But fear not, the simple interface allows for quick musical exploration, making it incredible easy to find great progressions using just your ears. There is only the slightest learning curve in getting used to timing your chord selections, but this is quickly overcome within an hour of playing and is highly rewarding. Show more
