    App no longer works
I used this app a few years ago to program my microkorg. It was always a bit of trouble to get working but always did the job. I have revisited this app after a year or two of not using my microkorg much to find this app no longer works at all. It does not put out midi data to my instruments and no longer has an option to choose midi channel (who needed that feature anyways /s). I have tried on all of my iPads and used every midi interface I own and this app no longer works. Wish There was some alternative for programming that synth on iOS or this one just got the care it needs. Show more

    So much to love
I own several Patch Base editors and to me they are gold. For example, the DX200 editor does things even Yamaha’s original editor couldn’t do, like replace the synth sound in a pattern with a different sound while keeping the same pattern. Many times Patch Base has helped me make sounds that I never would have made on my own, and that has kept me from feeling like I need to replace my old synths. Literally saved me thousands of dollars. Show more

    NOT FREE
This app is not free. Once downloaded, you must pay like $30 - $100 to use it. SCAM.

    Way overpriced
$60 every year or $30 for one is ridiculous. I will just buy more sw synths and use my synth as a controller.

    Worth it!
I am using this with both a Casio CZ-101 and with a Korg MS2000R. And I love it for different reasons with each. With the CZ, Patch Base is a fantastic editor, letting you create faster than dialing up and down values on the CZ’s hardware buttons ever could. (Also it’s nice to save on wear and tear on this aging beauty). On the MS2000, I appreciate the sound organization capabilities. And iCloud integration makes this almost too good. For me it was definitely worth the investment of time and money to get so much more out what I am fortunate enough to have. Show more

    Cancelling my subscription
Hours spent trying to move .syx files from Win 10 PC to iPad via iCloud. Neither sees the files/folders of the others. Licensed Dev's sysex base and got same results. No manual info available and little activity on Patch Base FB group. Great idea, but useless without ability to transfer my existing libraries. Show more

5 stars for potential, but XV-5080 is broken
Need this for my 5080, but it is stuck on a spinning loading icon when I try to launch the editor after adding it. Contacted via the contact section on site. I do not have Facebook to ask there. Show more

    Wonderful
The editors I bought (MicroKorg, MophoKey) are perfect in every way. Smooth transfers, Easy patch management... and an elegant design that makes programming these two synths a joy.

    More like Patch Erased
Even though this is extremely convenient to have for vintage synths and modern synths alike, it has a glaring problem. Running the recent version of this with the latest iOS, it will randomly wipe your installed editors from the app after it has been closed and reopened, and with it all of your patches saved to the editor and backed up to iCloud via the automatic file transfer within the app. So if your patches aren’t backed up any other way, you’re S.O.L. Luckily I keep paper data sheets of all my patches for technological failures such as this... For a premium priced app, this is quite frankly unacceptable. Show more

No way to just see if the app will do what you want.
I’m sorry, but a 7 day free trial, which you have to then cancel, is beyond annoying when the developer could, at a minimum, stop the immediate pop up and just lock saving/sending so you can see if the app will provide the basic functionality. They probably wouldn’t even need the seven day free trial because the sending/saving is what they are really wanting to prevent users from doing for free. Show more

    Worth the Price
I’ve collected a small stack of vintage rack synths and the latest release of Patch Base just added a whole new layer of happy creativity to my music. I’ve tried dedicated hardware and iOS editors as well as some MacOS-based options before, but the easy setup, clean interface and patch design features of Patch Base are fantastic — learn one interface, one workflow and keep creating. It did take a bit of troubleshooting and tweaking, but once I worked the out configuration it has been a charm to use. Now I can truly dig around in the settings of my Roland D-550 and Yamaha TX-81z and craft some unique vintage voices for my compositions with ease — in my living room, AirPlaying from Logic on my iMac to a HomePod controlling the D-550 from my iPad over WiFi in real time (admittedly, I did it because I could... ?). Finally, I do appreciate the voting system for adding new gear. I’ve got a couple of synths that aren’t covered yet (Access Virus Rack and a Roland MKS-70), so I’ve voted them onto the list along with some others. Listening to customers is a good thing and I get a sense that the developers do care about vintage gear. If you’re a hardware synth person, don’t let the price get to you. It is worth it. Show more

Get SO much more from your 80s +90s rack synths
Ok so when I was a teen in the 90s, I got my 1st synth (Roland D-10) not really understanding techno gear and what was really making the music I loved. Later I figured it out but I the meantime did my best with that D-10. I may not have ever made a decent sounding acid tracks but what I did do was learn to appreciate machines like that, to get creative, and certainly use them in ways their designers probably didn't intend. Since the first time I learned there was an iPad midi interface I've been waiting for someone to design an editor for some of these "ugly duckling" synths. Coffeeshopped has done it. These editors are amazing, cleverly designed and parameters thoughtfully arranged. So far every one I've tried works perfectly and immediately sent me down super fun new paths of sound design. I've read a few reviews balking at the prices. I don't agree with that at all. I don't feel those reviewers really appreciate what these tools unlock. Maybe it's the few decades I spent menu diving and button pushing on a TX-802 that have me convinced. But to me the value is in the access these editors give you to solid, professional, real vintage gear that can be had for tiny fractions of what more sought after vintage gear goes for. Thanks to Chadwick and I'm looking forward to more editors! Show more

How are we supposed to test this?
I used to keep this app on my iPad to see how it progressed. I was able to test a few functions with my hardware. Since the stupid subscription nonsense was added, I have not been able to test the editors. I don’t like the way they look, that’s for sure. A single screen cluttered with a bunch of identical controls... No thank you. But I can’t even see how it works. All I get is a payment screen. DELETED. Show more

Prices are far too high now ...
I see Yamaha TG-33 is added will it show the hidden parameters for deeper FM synthesis editing ?? The JD-990 would be a fantastic addition & since you have scripts for all SRJV expansion boards, why not. I’m not digging the skyrocketed price hikes. Seems greedy. Not everyone does, or ever will own ALL the synths supported & thus we are being extorted on ridiculous high prices for a single editor. On the new iPad Pro the home "line"at bottom covers bottom parameters ... Please fix. Please reduce prices.... You can no longer "try before you buy" instead, you are slapped with an advertisement to buy the editor, buy them all ? or subscribe monthly ? No way ! Show more

    Incredible app
Super essential app for my blofeld workflow, it’s really opened the hardware up for me and made it so much easier and faster to use, patch base puts the full potential of the blofeld all in one place for me, incredibly useful. Show more

    Overpriced
It seems like a pretty solid editor but $30 per editor is just too much. Ten or fifteen dollars would be more reasonable.
