Spooky good. No doubt it can crank out bright and bouncy too. I just haven't gotten there yet. Only half way through the manual, of which, I probably only truely understand about a quarter ?. Any effort by developers (all developers, not just Sugar) to provide 'Help' is always appreciated, however, I really wish they would start by "defining their terms" in detail. The Sugar Bytes videos for Aparillo rank among the best I've seen from music app developers for an affordable iOS synth. That said, I may grab one of those apps that supposedly slows down video and audio without affecting the pitch ;) and rewatch them. Have barely dented sampling the presets because there are so many settings I can tweak I'm constantly getting rabbit-holed (I know, a real first-world sort of problem). Have been running it for several days as an AUM instrument and it is solid, not a resource hog (iOS12.3), and really "plays well with others." All the key controls/settings are also available for MIDI tweaking. My guess is, if you like Cyborg or Factory then you are going to appreciate Aparillo as much or more (probably more). Aparillo is a long-play generative music gem. Show more

    Incredible and Powerful
I’m loving playing with and learning this synth. There are so many possibilities for new and fresh sounds. My only complaint so far is that after a few minutes the keys tend to start sticking as if there is a hold function on and I have to close and restart the app to make it stop. Show more

    Fantastic Sound Design Tool! but......
The developer should mention that Aparillo requires an in-app purchase in order to use it as an Audio Unit v3. Other than that, what a blast to play with!

Turns out I DID need another hole in my head.
It only took three notes on the default sound and I couldn’t get to the buy option soon enough...unlike any thing else. Need some more time to find any niggles, but had to immediately post some gratitude. Show more

    So Awesome
One of my very favorite virtual instrument designers scores BIG with this iOS gem. Well done, creative and inspiring. Jordan Rudess Dream Theater

    Wow!
This is the best synth I have ever heard on here. Definitely buying the additional sounds.

    No iPad Pro support
Great synth, but ugly on 12.9” iPad.

    Thank You!
This app is nothing short of a game changer. Thank You, is the simple message I have for the devs.

The Upgrade Was Worth Every Dollar
Simply said, I’m in love with the App!!! Sugar bytes you’ve done a marvelous design job here. App works A++ on my iPad Air2 n sounds luscious in all ways. Nice layout on controls n screens. Easy to maneuver around on the App. It’s a nice logical setup. Hats off to you Sugarbytes!!! You knocked this one out of the park!! Show more

OMG! This synth app is crazy good.
Update: Thank you for your quick response Nadine! Oh dah, it all makes sense now. Rereading the end of the Aparillo’s user manual I see that now. That’s what I get for trying to read the manual at 2am. lol (I never took one star away anyway as I just like Aparillo too much!) I’ll first check the manual again, as I have a question about the plugin and the virtual keyboard, to make sure that I’m not missing anything again as I’m having difficulties with multiple instances of Aparillo in AUM. ☺️ I used to use various other synth apps (Model 15 & D, KAULDRON, AK’s Synth 1, etc) to create cinematic pieces. Now Aparillo not only makes it one stop shopping, so to speak, but also more ‘matched’ tools specifically for that music/sound genre❣️ I also love the frequency of ‘surprises’ in Aparillo like when you push a slider that extra digit or two and the sound texture completely changes, opening a whole new direction to explore. This is my favorite Suger Bytes app with Cyclops a close second! —- I got the answer to the save state question. AUM has crashed twice today and Aparillo didn’t lose a single setting! On another note though, the user manual and the app don’t agree about what Preferences contain. The manual says, and shows, that Preference contains the Ableton Link setting, in app notifications setting, a display for connected apps, ICoud, MIDI, and Audio. Except for iCloud, none of that exists under Preferences (or anywhere as far as I’ve been able to tell). That and the manual was written for their desktop app and not revised for iOS. —- (This is my third written review of Aparillo, as Apple lost the first two in a two hour period. This synth app is so impressive I’m writing it yet again.) Aparillo is insanely fun ‘right out of the box’, so to speak, without looking under the hood or at the manual. It’s a sound scape music making machine, among other things. But if you do look under the hood, your ‘down the rabbit hole.’ Suger Bytes has done a good job of visually representing what’s going on in the app while it’s active. THANK YOU Suger Bytes for adding the note hold feature. It’s an invaluable feature for my creation technique That omission was the only reason I was holding back buying the app. And thanks for the ‘‘persistent’ note hold when switching between presets, making finding the right sound easier and quicker. Having to re-key a note to sample presets, the mechanical interruption, frequently will break my creative line of thought. I like the ability to reverse the Filter and the Spacializer in the signal path and to be able to assign an Orbiter position to each of 128 MIDI Keys if desired. Play entire complex cinematic pieces using individually played MIDI keys as the trigger. Now how cool is that? The app saves it’s state when gracefully exiting the app but I wonder if it still saves it’s state if the DAW crashes? There is so much depth here, if one chooses to dig deeper into the Aparillo. Right now I’m experimenting with Aparillo, Outta Bass and Audiokit’s Synth One. Sonic Mania! lol Show more
