The best radio station in the Twin Cities. I use the app because I live abroad, helps me keep connected to home.

It was 42 years ago Sept 1978, when a small group of folks involved with the center for communications and development that started the station. The original frequency was 89.7. The station was located in the former housing projects on 4th and Aldrich north. The tower was located on top of a near by Sr housing unit that still stands today. And with only 10 watts of power, it was incredible where we were able to reach. The station was run by Jeanette Cotton, engineer was Nolan Kramer, who resides yet in new hope, Mn. Henry Joiner was the stations music director Kyle Ray and Tim DeBarge were our unbelievable evening D.j’s. I shared afternoons with Gary Johnson also known as the “Deacon “ and as the stations weekly announcers facilitator and station liaison for outside events. We began each day with 2 hours of gospel. Various church’s and announcing was done during that time. Followed by R and B format. Being the only station in the cities with that format, we had no idea how blessed we were. Highlights of the next 2 years was the wattage increase to 100 watts and the visits of legends including Prince which is where the very first prince album was played, Curtis Mayfield, Gap Band, and the visit of James Brown in February 1980. What on honor to say my career as I am sure many others began because of KMOJ, but in 40 years of unity in our community, it needs to be told even more today. Great station, great app. If you want a mix of new and old school, with barely any commercials, this is the place. Saturday and Sunday nights are especially good shows. My family loves kmoj! Show more

I gave one star for the effort in developing an app for the radio station. However, it’s not effective or useful if the app doesn’t work. I tried listening to the Community Value segment today (7-8-2019) through the app on my IPhone and I got the message “cannot stream at this time” I trouble shoot by deleting app and reinstall. No luck. I went to Kmoj website to see if I could stream but again no streaming available. Please work on the technology! I should be able to listen without being in my car. Show more

This app is a great way to listen to KMOJ and the ICE on the go. It has the best sound and I never have to worry about static. I also love staying up to date with all of the current news stories. Show more
