When it works it works great. The interface is easy to maneuver and setup is straight forward. But most of the time there are straight up horrible connectivity issues and I have to repeat the setup process over and over. This is theoretically a great idea, but too many bugs for me to invest any more time/money in. It’s frustrating when you just want to get your day going with some good tunes but, then you spend the morning instead trying to connect your receiver to your phone. Show more

App works very well. One company I have is it takes 3 steps to change a radio station. The presets should be first surface on the tuner screen. Also it would be nice if the IOS volume controls would would even if your not in the app. Otherwise it’s great. They also need a widget that would control the basic functions. Show more

I like to play music from my NAS device, which I have collected over the years into folders with different types of music. Most music players are capable of queuing music from a particular folder *and subfolders*. MusicCast does not have this capability. It can only queue music for one specific folder. Otherwise, you need to set up playlists which is laborious and there is no facility in MusicCast to do this. In addition, Version 5 is too bright compared to version 4 and there is no “dark mode.” Also, version 4 was much more straightforward to navigate, and was easier to use. I really hate the source selection screen now, which is hard to find. Overall, this new release is a huge disappointment. Show more

I’ve had the system for 4 years and it is so unreliable ! The app is difficult to navigate and when it’s playing it goes our frequently ! I am looking For a more reliable system at this time if any one has suggestions I welcome your input ! Show more

Old design seemed simpler. New one has too many things moving around and it’s hard to find buttons to press. They don’t stand out as well and take more concentration to find. Show more

The app constantly has issues at start up where it just stays on the title screen and the wheel spins. I have a gig of internet and I have tested the bandwidth near the receiver at 300Mb. Show more

Very Happy with MusicCast as an alternative to Sonia.

Title says it all, home and Lock Screen widgets would make this a 5-star app!

Not enough options for my receiver

AV Controller was better to see and change settings. Music Cast is ok if you just turn things on and off, but not for more in-depth settings and viewing of current receiver settings. I liked AV Controller being able to show current settings and it’s very disappointing not being able to do that. Not able to activate zone 4 with Music cast it also annoying Show more

Fantastic UI

This app is a awesome app, if you have any home automation devices, as well as a Yamaha receiver .

Latest version of the app will not allow you to enter a network password before it advances to trying to connect to the network. Therefore you will perpetually get the “setup failed” message. I have 5 speakers that are now paperweights. Hopefully one day they will build an app without errors and mistakes in it. Show more

The last update where they redid the UI is great. Super super fast. 100% cloud. Everything works great. Please save the project and close and don’t issue updates that will break things in the future. Show more

I have a strong wi-fi signal and the app doesn’t often respond. I need to hit the power button several times for it to turn ON or OFF. Volume control is just as annoying. The latest revision is just as bad as previous. Show more

the yamaha r-n303 receiver tunes many internet stations, and with the musicast app, easy to find the stations. like the functionality of either bluetooth in or cast out to another speaker. one drawback on the receiver is lack of lfe out for the sub woof. use the b- side speaker out into a matrix to feed the sub woof. with the rj-45 jack, receiver is direct connect to router. the musicast app was recently updated for more graphically oriented recent favorite station selection, its ok, but imho not much value add on that function. The options are spread over the app, it feels like a video game quest to find your way around them, especially if you dare to use multiple zones (you fool). Even changing volume is a disappointment compared to the previous Yamaha AV control app. Please allow me to use that previous app with my new receiver, please ! Show more
