ALBUMS is The Answer for frustrated Apple Music users who enjoy both streaming songs AND listening to albums. It made it easier to repair my jumbled collection (thanks, iTunes!) by displaying incomplete albums. And it has nifty collections of suggested albums, like "new and unheard" or "only heard once." I'm still discovering features and I've only had it for a short time, so I can't speak to it's reliability and robustness, but so far I'm sold on this developer's work. Show more

Sometimes, you find an app where, after spending some time with it, you discover that the app's developer just gets it, and has the skills to create a wonderful experience. For me, this is one of those rare apps. I love music as much as I love life itself and I really enjoy listening to albums as unique expressions of the artists who created them. This app allows me to enjoy albums in the way that they were meant to be, much like they were enjoyed when vinyl and cassette tapes were the dominant media of the day. Sure, I love a good mixtape or playlist, too, and for those experiences, I'll use another app, but – honestly – I spend most of my music listening time here. Albums' focus is creating a queue of albums to listen to. The options for doing so are staggering – too many to list here – but at the end of the day, the interface is intuitive and easy to use. It has excellent integration with the Apple Music service (you'll need an Apple Music subscription to get the most of this app). If Last.fm is your jam (as it is mine), Albums will faithfully scrobble everything you listen to. CarPlay is often an afterthought for many developers but Albums' CarPlay implementation is thoughtful and it works well. Less important to me are listening stats but, If you are data-focused, Albums will not disappoint you. I'm not a huge fan of the subscription model but the reality is that developers need a reasonable income stream to sustain their work. This is one of those situations where I quickly shelled out the $$$ for a lifetime subscription because I'm confident that Albums' developer will continue to delight. That said, the developer offers several flexible options for subscribing. This is a wonderful app and if you are an Apple Music user who enjoys listening to whole albums, this app will deliver. I really like the abundance of information of music library. I know the focus is albums but it would be nice if it had a setting to toggle stats based on individual plays or albums, and synchronization with your music app instead of separate players. Definitely like the concept though. Show more

I really wanted to try this app, however it seems my 70gb of music is too much for it, as it immediately gets stuck running “startup tasks”. I’ve left it running, open and unlocked overnight with no change. Show more

last fm scrobbler isn't free

This might be one of the best apps in the App Store. I have long thought that the team building the Apple Music app has been slacking for years, this was what i had expected from them for so long. An app for people who love music. Just download it. Drop the money and get a lifetime pass. End of story. Show more

As an “album-based” listener managing a very large library, this app solved a lot of my issues with Apple Music. Just the ability to view playlists in “album view” mode was enough for me. But the other features and ease of use have made this my go to app for mobile listening. Very versatile, configurable, and lag free. Love it. Great job! Most of the things that may frustrate you about the iOS Music app should be alleviated by using this one. Show more

If you have hundreds of albums in your library that you’ve never listened to, but would like to rediscover them, this app is for you. If you like the thrill of randomly playing an album in your library, this app is for you. If you’re tired of algorithmic playlists, this app is for you. stuck on “downloading icloud data”, never goes past that so app doesn’t even work

I got this app because I had thought, unlike other apps, you could see the album up close, both the front and back!! However, I do not see any way possible that this is a feature on this app. Where is it???? Hmm? Where? Show more

With the vinyl resurgence, I find myself back in the album centric mode. With the new lossless options in Apple Music I wanted to get away from iTunes Match (my digitally recorded and uploaded vinyl sides) but wanted to be able to shuffle albums. This app allows me to do that the way I want with some nice pause and sort options. I can listen the way I like without having to create new manual recordings. Show more

This app is like I’m back in the record store thumbing through the albums, looking at the covers, reading liner notes and then, back at home, I’m listening to the *entire* record . . . not a playlist, not some algorithm telling me what I want to hear next or off an album in my Library. I haven’t had as much fun with an app in ages — and I’ve already subscribed to support the developer. The UI is a tad rough and a bit clunky in parts — the reason for 4 and not 5 stars. Some actions are just not readily evident — long taps some places, not others, that sort of thing. Maybe when I get used to them my rating becomes 5 stars. What I really love: the collection of album covers, so I can visually browse albums and choose what I want to play ... just like I did at the record store or at home. There’s some smart intelligence built in, too, like how many times I’ve listened to an album, tags so I can organize beyond A-Z and Z-A, old favorites, new discoveries (added last 10 days, 30 days ...), anniversaries (of an album’s release). Data is provided by Discogs and MusicBrainz. All that’s missing are links to Wikipedia pages (for the ultimate in today’s “liner notes”). I’ve tried many replacement apps for Apple’s music player and none have stuck. This one just might. Big high five to developer Adam. Show more

Not only do I rarely review apps, I almost never rewrite a review for the same app multiple times. Until now. This is the best music player for iOS. By far. It allows me to shuffle by album, gives me all kinds of fun statistics, and let’s me pick my jams and then I’m set for a few hours or even the day. It picks up where I left off, it shuffles albums by playlist/genre, and has all kinds of fun insights like “New and unheard” and “only listened once”. This app does so much work for me that I used to myself with playlists, smart playlists, tags. Not anymore! It does respond kind of slowly and break sometimes, but other than that it’s pretty much flawless. Show more

Any chance you can not use Roboto for the application? It is not a good looking font. Can you please use the font Apple gave you: “SF” ? Thanks

I prefer not to stream. If you are the same albums is great app. The widgets are great too! You can’t go wrong with this app!
