    Meaty AU Synth
It's nice to be able to add this synth to your AU host apps (e.g. GarageBand, AUM, Cubasis). You can save presets in GarageBand and AUM. If you open the app from the home screen, you get a manual. When you launch the app from within an AU host app you get the synth itself. In AUM there are a multitude of settings for Viking Synth that you can control via MIDI which comes in handy for automation sequencing. Unfortunately Apple needs to have a standardized way of saving your custom presets in all AU apps and AU hosts so we're not recreating presets every time we use a different AU host app. Clearly it's the responsibility of Apple to take care of the AU preset problem for the iOS AU standard they created. Universal AU plugin synth!
The negative reviews for Viking Synth are ridiculous - this is a Audio Unit plugin, not a standalone app!!! It needs to be nested inside an app that supports AU plugins, like GarageBand or AUM. Once used properly, it sounds terrific! Note also that it's monophonic (one note at a time), so it really excels at vintage analog bass and lead sounds. Ships with a great wealth of presets, though I'd like to see more work on adding preset categories and making the preset functionality more widely compatible with host apps. But thank you for making a universal, low footprint synth that works with AU! Show more

    No Presets
I owned 2 model D Mini's back in the day, and recorded and gigged with them extensively all through the 70's and 80's. Though never having owned the Voyager, I have used them studio side. This apps UI reminds me nothing of a Voyager. Sonically its not bad, but running it as an AU plugin in Garage Band, Auria, and Cubasis, I cannot for the life of me find a preset option ANYWHERE. In this day and age of me too soft synths you gotta not only sound good, but also be user friendly. If the developer makes accessing presets a reality in the 3 major IOS Daws I'll upgrade my rating. Other wise its collecting virtual dust. Updated: Ok I found the presets in Garage Band, but in cubasis and Auria, two of the most widely used IOS DAWs, and both of who support AU, you still cant access presets. This is a shame as Viking Synth actually sounds pretty good. If the developer fixes the app so it will work in these popular DAWs I'll upgrade my rating again. Show more

    Only a manual downloaded!!!!
Am I missing something? I downloaded this thinking it was an iOS app to be used with a DAW. All that I got was am manual describing it. I tried deleting it and reloading it with the same results. Show more

    This is moog-y Goodness.
As apps have become more sophisticated, as well as better sounding, and iOS synths have become abundant, it is getting increasingly more difficult to earn 5 stars. This sounds REALLY good. It isn't a complicated synth, but it has guts and snarl and harmonic richness for miles. Show more
