    Amazing addition
This app is an amazing addition to the Gloomhaven experience. Makes you more immersed in the story. However I have found that in Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion, scenario 21, trigger 3 is missing, guess you guys missed that one ? Show more

No in app purchases, can’t download audio.
The narration is great. The app is incredibly poor. Annoyingly, you need to create an account and purchase soundtracks from Forteller’s website. Once that’s done you can view them in the app. Yes, view. The app doesn’t seem to allow mass downloading of soundtracks to listen to later. There are instructions to download tracks one scenario at a time, but Gloomhaven has 95 scenarios. Downloading even one at a time takes some figuring out, since the app’s tip on how to do so is wrong. You reveal the SAVE button with a swipe, not with a long press as the app tells you. After performing the swipe, the download immediately commences and locks up the app until it finishes, so no queuing all the files at once. Once you have downloaded a file, the app doesn’t provide any indication or marker that you’ve made a scene available offline. So, the only way you’ll realize you haven’t downloaded it is when you go to play the game without internet and it doesn’t work. And that’s assuming you have any internet connectivity at all. When launching the app you need to log in to your Forteller account to get off the opening screen. If you don’t have internet at all, you can’t even look at the files you downloaded earlier. It’s infuriating, because what I’ve listened to of the audio is so good that I’m not willing to just give up on it. If I could click a button to download all, or at least queue up all my downloads by pressing 95 buttons in order, and get a checkmark by the ones that were stored locally, that would be a massive improvement. Furthermore, I’d love to be able to actually listen to my downloaded audios without having to log back in. I downloaded them because I don’t have reliable internet where I play. Requiring internet defeats the whole point. Finally, why in the world do I need an account in the first place? Just let me download the game’s data with an in app purchase. As it stands there’s no way I will be buying the Frosthaven audio lines when it comes out unless these issues are resolved. Show more

    Great narration! One suggestion/bug?
Bought the Jaws of the Lion narration. Love it! Only complaint is that usually on my phone I play the narration and then my phone goes to sleep on the app on that same page. When I wake my phone (face recognition or passcode) the narration auto plays again. Show more

    Unlocking purchased game difficulty
Purchased the game but trying to unlock or load audio is difficult to navigate.

Impossibly confusing to redeem purchased items
Just signed up and purchased for gloomhaven but no instructions on how to use in both the app and on the browser that the app sends you to. App says 2 scenarios with 4 hrs 19 minutes of content and an icon that brings you to web browser which after purchase says 75 scenarios with 4hrs 19 minutes content. Then that’s it. No option to download or instructions on how to access content from there. Super easy and clear instructions on how to purchase though..... Show more

    Incredibly Immersive
Was somewhat unsure about the necessity of having dictation app for games like Gloomhaven. But now that I have, I can’t imagine playing them without it. The voices and the audio immerse you soo deeply into the game and story, I have played close to 8 hours that felt like 30 minutes. To anyone playing any boardgames like these, I can’t recommend this app more, you will not regret it. Show more

    Disappointing on multiple levels
We had high hopes for this app, but we were disappointed. While the production values are very high, there is a good deal too much noise compared with the voices. For older ears it can be hard to make out what the voices are saying. We also found ourselves disappointed in the direction and the acting. The direction seems to disregard what’s written in the text. Characters who are said to “bellow” or to say something “triumphantly” talk just like all the other characters. And the acting is pretty good in the male parts, not so good in the female parts. For example, Hail is supposed to be powerful, mystical, and a bit intimidating, but she just comes off sweet and girly. I dunno if that’s the actor or the direction, but it was a real disappointment. Finally, the technology of the app is not up to snuff. It takes 14 to 16 seconds to load an audio file. On a 2019 iPad Pro, that’s shockingly slow. Audio should load and play almost instantaneously. Moreover, the app won’t let the device go to sleep—it will happily sit on for an hour and drain the battery. And if you do tap the sleep button to put the poor iPad out of its misery, once it comes back and you’ve re-authenticated, the Forteller loses its place: instead of going on to the next clip of the scenario, it wants to replay the last one you’ve heard. I love the concept of this app. But alas, the execution is wanting. Show more

    Worth Every Penny
Professional voice actors and top notch sound engineering has added some much needed immersion to Isaac’s already-amazing game. My Gloomhaven game just leveled-up! My friends and I will obviously be playing through it all again just to enjoy what this adds to experience. And 95 scenarios (73 so far) for only $15? It would be a bargain at twice the price. I already pre-ordered the Frosthaven narration pack. Keep up the good work! P.S. I would happily pay for narrated event cards and the town records book... in case that’s ever on the table. :) Show more
