Really cool app for generating ideas. Would love ableton export like Koala has , even more genres , and some more sounds, even a simple synth within the app would be really cool. Would also like more tracks as opposed to the just 4 it currently has. Counter Melodie’s etc Show more

First thing I need to get outta the way is telling writer’s block to take a hike! “So go on and get outta here writer’s block! Nobody wants your kind around so just make like a banana and split!” Sorry y’all had to witness such a gruesome scene.. Now that’s outta the way… I have been using Songen since like week 2 of it’s birth. I released a song back in December that Songen helped with. The loop it gave me ended up being the chorus for the song then I manipulated the MIDI files for the rest of the song to my tastes, which I wouldn’t have gotten the idea if Songen wasn’t around.. I personally prefer to export the loop to make into my own song with Logic Pro. I use the full song generate to freestyle over or sometimes to get some ideas on how to go about the intro for my song… I’ll admit, there has been some seriously annoying bugs here and there, but they have always been taken care of by the devs immediately. You can tell they’re passionate about their work. Here recently, Songen has been generating 2 bar loops instead of 4 or 8 bars.. I’d say I began to notice it was giving 2 bar loops about a week ago.. Which idk if this was intentional or not, but it’s only annoying because I have been frequently getting t 2 bars generates more often then not. A feature I would love see come to fruition is instead of having 4 tracks Songen helps you with, but 5 or maybe 6 tracks?? I feel it’d help add more depth and fullness.. With or without it though, Songen is my go-to Co-Producer when my creative juices aren’t cooperating with me. Keep up the amazing work Devs! Show more

This app almost never fails, offers incredible and versatile chords and Melodie’s with great song editing abilities, I hope to see a Japanese city pop preset in the future.

Use this in the studio all the time to jump start sessions or problem solve songwriting. Genre requests - drum n bass, baille funk, footwork :)

Many apps have streamlined the process by providing MIDI out and ability to assign each part to a selectable midi channel.

Not a big fan of the new UI navigation. Hoping they provide a good option for exporting songs en-mass. I have so many songs that I essentially have to pay the subscription to keep or I may risk them being lost. I don’t use this app to create song anymore. Just figured out to re order arrangements again and honestly I found the old arrangement editor superior despite it being smaller. Legacy songs was a startling surprise. I can’t seem to find the distorted crunchy mastering filter if thats still around. I am sort of lost with how the new arrangement works. The repeat and beat cut settings are cool but I have to be honest in saying the new UI is convoluted and very over-tappy to navigate. The app could have stayed similar to its original edition while improving on upgrades without feature-creep like this. I had a plethora of songs named in Songen. I paid the subscription to keep them in the app. All of my songs that I have tweaked and created are now gone and lost as far I am aware. Is it possible to recover the songs? Or did the update disregard user saved songs? Also, I’m sorry but the new UI/UX is terrible by the way. You had something going, and it looks like someone went for a change of aesthetics over functionality. It may have seemed great to give everything it’s own page to swipe to; but now I can’t see basic pertinent info at a glance… Did you hire someone new that doesn’t know what they are doing or did someone acquire you guys? I haven’t used the app in months but kept my subscription BECAUSE it saved my songs to be editing and mixed later, as well as exported in different ways. The piano-player visualizer is useless. This app has been destroyed from it previous potential and existing quality. I can only hope another comes around with your original idea as its inspiration, as Songen is no longer what it was. Good luck with your new users. It was great while it lasted. A shame how it ended to become something else in a reduction of utility and intuitive creation for appearances… OLD REVIEW. This is the cutting edge. The coolest music production paired with algorithms and AI! I reaaaally hope you add some kind of “variation” feature that automatically creates 2-3 variations if a song. I have edited some songs to mKe new songs with adding swing, changing octaves, and especially the awesomeness of note repetition settings. I don’t really use the chord progression often as its difficult to navigate and set up and sometimes it seems to jumble the notes I set when generating a new song. Realisitically my best tunes have came randomly, and with tweaking the note MIDI rather than the chords. What I would really love is some huge feature that can either create/breed/mutate a new song from using an existing song, or perhaps mixing songs together or even… generating new songs using old songs + additional genres. The arrangements are wonderful and I have a library of custom setups that I may even use if I end up really getting into music creation. I hope for this app to fuel professional music production. Love the constant improvements. Don't know how to produce a correct "stab" in garage band yet. Any ideas? The transition onto garageband doesn't have that instrument.

This is an amazing app. As someone who intends to use it a lot, a subscription model can be daunting - especially over longer periods of time. Please release a pro version where we can use all features for a one-time fee. I’d be willing to pay the cost. All I ask is that you create a practical alternative for producers like me. I really enjoy this app but you guys should add more instruments.. as in a saxophone, more flute sounds, and just more in general it would make the beats sound better overall and you should also add more then four audio things so there can be more sounds and so you can make it more personalized.. it would make this app 10 times better but other than that there is nothing to complain about other then if accidentally pull the notification center down on iphone you sometimes lose all the sound and have to close the app and reopen it or if you connect some headphones it can also happen.. Normally, I love this app, great way to get me going, but lately the exports have been getting bricked. I have tried solving the issue and finding work around, to no avail. I’d love to continue using this app, but I can’t until I can either export properly, or look at the stems within the app to work around. Please fix if possible! Show more

I like some features but not all. I love that I can change up chords the types and the Melody arrangement. This app makes sense for songwriter as it gives them a starting point. I really don’t use the app that often maybe not months between using it. I’m a producer and uses the Algorithm to see if I can get any ideas but lately haven’t got anything I like out of it. I would love if I paid a full price to own but not monthly for something I rarely use. I guest the Algorithm needs to get paid for all the work it does. Show more

Honestly loved of organized the old design was and how you had better controls of what you wanted to keep and do with it. This new update was a change in look which I saw was for an aesthetic change but at the price of usefulness. You can’t simplify the parts, can’t mix how loud they are anymore, can’t change the syncopation nor make it export without crashing over and over and when you finally get it to export something like your separated drum midi with multitrack stems in wav and midi, it doesn’t export the whole 11 files even when you try to put it on google drive or simply to save onto your device. This new update came at the cost of 90% of what I liked and used this app for. It was useful and organized. Well put together and made sense with actual functioning things not just aesthetic. Can this please be fixed. I’m actually incredibly disappointed and I’ve been a customer with a premium subscription with them for almost a whole year. Almost uninstalled the app because of this new update. Show more

Is it no longer possible to combine different genres? That was one of the best features imo but I don’t see a way to do it in the new version.

But it deleted all my saves. I am glad there was an overhaul with more variations in the song. If you could scratch with the circular loop i will change it to 5 stars that would be perfect. It deleted my saves from the previous update though ? so maybe that too. Show more

App is amazing, but there are bugs with this new version Songen 2.0, can’t export audio stems. The app crashes immediately
