    Update?
This app was ok before the “update”, now I can’t even used full functions!

    Improved but needs more options
This version is definitely improved from previous version for use with my iphone and Onkyo TX-NR6100. However, it would be great if more options were included on airplay page to allow for adjustments for treble, bass and L/R speaker balance without having to go to another page or app to adjust. New update has issues
We have been using the App for about a year with no issues. Now, the most recent update, fall of 2022, is not stable. The App freezes or is not able to connect to our Onkyo receiver, when we attempt to connect to Pandora or Tidal. It will connect to both streaming services, however it will not go beyond that point. You are not able to get to the menu of Playlists (Pandora) or Menu of playing choices with Tidal. We have 3 iPads and 2 iPhones and all our devices are experiencing the same issues. The developers need to fix this issue. Show more

Okay, but needs a few added feature
So this app, while has some useful functions that allow you to skip using the remote, needs just a little bit more work to get more stars. Firstly, while more product related, my RZ50 is constantly dropping network connectivity. About once a week I will have to reconnect the AVR to my WiFi network (Wifi6 Mesh system) in order to use the app. Thinks I like: -Input switching is easy to navigate and pretty responsive -Adjusting trim for center & subwoofer and switching between DIRAC slots is quick and easy. -Having audio/video info available help verify streamer is working correctly and pulling the correct audio Things I don’t like: -Switching between sound field modes is frustrating because you have to cycle through each mode to get to the one you want. Yamaha’ MusicCast app uses a drop down feature and lets you pick exactly which sound field you want without having to go through 6-7 other modes to get to the one you want. -Making any adjustment with tone controls causes the AVR to drop out for nearly a full second with each tick of adjustment. If it was as smooth as subwoofer/center trim that would be a great quality of life change As far as features/updates I’d like to see: -A “Pure Audio” button in the adjustment menu. So I can just snap to that mode without having to cycle through the others -Drop down menu for sound fields, saving the frustration of cycling through them all -Larger volume “knob” when adjusting volume. The haptic feed back is nice but the simulated dial is a bit small, and also I’d like to see it offer either volume number or dB scale to match what is displayed on screen -Graphical representation of what speakers are playing, similar to what is shown on the AVR front display Show more

    A big improvement for me.
The ability to control zone 2 in the app changed my life!! Thanks, Onkyo.

Vastly improved UI and other necessary features
The app feels much more modern and intuitive to use as of the 3.0 update in October, 2022. They finally added a volume knob, sleep timer and concise Interface of audio info within the app while remaining responsive and easy to understand. In addition, there’s some quality of life options such as the ability to add a custom photo of different backgrounds to represent your receiver within the app; nice touch. Nothing is slow and unresponsive like the how the volume and option menu used to be, and overall everything looks seamlessly designed and upgraded for the modern digital age of today. Do not become complacent, Onkyo. This app is excellent now, but it will need to be continuously updated to accommodate new receivers and features. Show more

    Mostly works and is convenient
When the app works, it’s convenient and controls the amplifier nicely (a TX-6260). At times it does seem to have problems with the network. I suspect it’s the amplifier itself. My one main complaint is that for Tidal it doesn’t show the quality of the album or song so you see multiple identical titles without any hint which one to pick. New UI looks good and at least doesn’t scroll back to the top of the list every time. Show more

    I like the New IU
Why is everyone complaining? I never use the app anyway but when I do the IU looks cleaner.

    Onkyo is DEAD
This company and his products are dead. No one buys them anymore and this is exactly why.

    Onkyo Controller now broken
The older versions worked acceptably. But new version won’t control streaming nor function if receiver started by the IR remote. WHAT HAPPENED? very frustrating. Definitely not progress

    Put it back
Put the app back how it was, so I can like, idk actually use it to control my receiver.

    Review
The app connects to my receiver and seems to work fine. The reason for my bad review is the speaker levels in the audio adjust section does not remember the settings, which is the main reason I use the app. It will change the settings, but when the app closes it doesn’t remember them on the receiver. They really need to release a new version with bug fixes. Show more

    A Frustrating App
Frustrating. I dread opening this app. I wish my TX-RZ830 allowed me to dump this trash and use the newer remote app. Slow. Selection of features takes 10-15 seconds per selection. Don’t select anything more than once or you’ll be watching a replay of the last 15seconds of your life through the eyes of a spasmatic tweaker. Unreliable. Every 4th or 5th login requires reset of my network and power cycle of the receiver to allow recognition of the app and the receiver. The receiver can connect independently to streaming channels, but does not allow connection through the app when the issue occurs. Disappointing. When I coughed up the cash for this receiver I thought I was getting the latest greatest technology for linking a multi-room stereo receiver to streaming services. Boy was I wrong. This is early 2010’s tech at best. Am I just supposed to be enamored by the fact that my stereo and phone can talk, while I struggle to keep my excitement contained? Come on. I think many issues could be resolved by bringing in compatibility of the TX-RZ830 with the “3” app. I hope this happens soon! In the meantime, embrace the pain. It will make you a stronger person, and you too may develop a passion for writing wordy reviews of obscure electronic devices on the internets that no one will read. Show more

    Does not work
If I could I would leave zero stars. First thing, is there is no need for location services. Even after enabling it, still doesn’t work. I have tried to search by specific IP, app will not allow it. Don’t waste your time. Show more

    Can barely see text
Get rid of the black background with faint white text. Impossible to see outdoors on my patio during sunlight hours.

    Sooo disappointed
What good is having an app to control my receiver when it rarely works? I have 1gb internet and my TX-RZ830 is ethered to my router which is 3 feet away so that’s not the issue. It’s either the app or the receiver’s interface that doesn’t work. I can stream music through the receiver via my AppleTV without issue but I wanted to be able to control the speakers on my deck (Zone 2) when outside but no can do with this app. Come on Onkyo, it’s 2022, develop an app that works! Interface
    The interface needs a facelift.
