More sounds such as a guitar, etc. would improve the app greatly.

I was always a fan of this developer's previous music app, "Drummy". As I think that you can create some pretty crazy sounding beats in that program. I do wish that it would please be updated with more editing features like filters and especially more sound banks too, though. As for, Melodist, I have to say that I was quite impressed after my initial use with the program. So far I've only loaded my digital paintings into it, no regular photos of people or other subjects yet. And this is probably just all in my head. But, I could swear that the bizarre paintings that I loaded seriously created a more eerie and out there type of melody. I, of course, don't understand the algorithm used here to create music from images. But maybe the strange color combinations, intense shapes and stuff such as that is what seems to me to create the more bizarre tunes. I don't know, I just know I think that's it's all pretty cool. Regardless of the reason behind that, I would definitely recommend, Melodist, as something fun to play around with, relax to, get inspired by and create some neat videos and or midi files to use elsewhere. Bad app

It would be awesome if this was made compatible with other devices. Also the way primarily dark photos sound vs primarily light photos is stunning.

What a great app to use cherished as well as fun photos into soul soothing memories

I find it relaxing and it's kinda cool that each photo had a different melody. Great for relaxation, sleep, inspiration..etc.

Utterly beautiful, intricate, and enchanting nonsense. The design is perfection. This app excels in its simplicity.

The design is absolutely beautiful, and the melodies that have come out of the app so far are really pretty, and each is different depending on the picture you upload. There are two free sounds (zen garden & ice cave) and three others which can be purchased for $0.99. There's also an option to export the MIDI file, but that's extra as well (also $0.99). I just wish there was some way to sample the sound first before buying it. Show more

One of my favorite apps for sure. It has great music and a beautiful interface. The sleep timer is also incredibly useful, and I hope more options are on the way. Please add more free features as soon as possible, but still a fantastic app! Show more

Once you hear one composition, the rest all sound kind of the same. The only tool for varying them is the tempo and two other background environments, one of which is $, both of which kind of convey the same mood. If the devs want to really set this app apart, they could offer a choice of different primary instruments, or possibly a choice of beats, trance rythyms, or tinkly space music (or some such) in the background. As it stands, this is a parlor trick, not something creative. Show more

This is actually so weirdly relaxing

There should be more parts of the music than just the one melody.

This is a solid app that has a neat idea which is about turning pictures into lullabies. However, there are a lot of features that could be added to the app to make it more engaging and fun and full of life. For example, instead of just having lullabies, the app could take into account of the picture is lively and full of warm colors and make a fiesta, dancing melody based on that, or if it was based on daytime or nighttime. The app could also take into account the music the user listens to and base the melody on that as well. This is a pretty creative app that will help you sleep better. I'm just saying it could be much much more. Show more

In-app purchases aren't accessible -- they load infinitely and never allow me to purchase, I want to purchase them and give you my money but not sure how it's going to happen if the app itself won't let me. Show more

Terrible! What is the point of this app? I simply thought sone nice music you would be heard while looking at the picture. Well,the picture is blurry. So who cares about the music? I quickly deleted app! Show more

I just wasted 10 minutes of my life that I will never get back, downloading and trying this app. It is a complete waste of space. The people giving this 5 stars must still point at airplanes. Show more

Great app. I love the concept! Unfortunately, as a musician, the lack of rhythmic consistency in the tunes gets under my skin a bit and defeats the purpose of being relaxing. However, it's ignorable as long as I'm not trying to relax. Maybe add an option of rhythm or no rhythm :-) Show more

Sound does not play when opening pictures after the first one. Otherwise nice app. Also some previews of the sounds you can buy would be cool.
