I really wanna love this piano app:(
Please read that before you buy! The sound of pianos and electric panels are really good, however that’s not all. This app is crushing or freezing meaning, stop responding to midi and audio. Is very hard to know when will stop working. You can play for half an hour and sometimes it’s working fine, sometimes crushing or freezing like crazy! I’m not new to music apps using to play and make music on IOS devices. My friend also download this app and he has the same issues on his iPad, so the problem is not just on my devices. I did follow developer advice and all the steps to eliminate issues with troubleshooting. I don’t have memory is lo, a message on my iPhone X or iPad Pro. The crashing or freezing are not related to that or my memory size or space that requires to running those apps. My both devices are half full and that’s not the issue. I reinstall the apps on my devices reboot my iPad many times and I don’t see any changes. Before I even start launching this app the other apps are always closed, airplane mode on, wi-Fi off, automatic apps updates in settings off, so nothing would running a background or use my extra processor power and the ram memory when I am using the piano app. My iPad or iPhone is usually connected to Korg plug- key (midi/audio Interface with usb power connected. I’ve never had issues with this with the other apps, besides a toasted with plain with out, it was the same problem. Unfortunately, nothing seems to help:( The problem is that app is sometimes plays just fine and sometimes is crashing or freezing and is unknown when that will occur. I know this that the longer you play, then more likely often is happening. This is just not acceptable! That’s mean this piano app is not reliable and you can’t play keys without fear that app will crash. When I’m using the other music apps like, Korg module, gadget and many other apps i’m pretty confident that they won’t crash. I never have that kind of issues in different apps like with this one. Colossus app is still acts like beta i’m not fully baked product. I don’t know if they are planning to fix that? I reached to developer and they said to follow their troubleshooting guideline, of course I did that. Developer seems ignoring my responses and not really understand problem. My hope is that developer will eventually fix that this, but for now it’s been disappointment:( The app is free, however in order to play anything you have to purchase stuff $$$. I pay a lot of the piano you should expect excellence for investment that I made! I Purchased most pianos within app and spent probably around $120! My hope was to use that piano app to perform in church or stage, unfortunately there is too much issues! I cannot predict when app will freeze, crash (stop working)! Another issue, velocity: I mentioned before piano sound quality by itself is very good, especially with a big brown piano or the white upright. The problem is with velocity of the sound feel one playing soft to hard, there is no noticeable stepping from one layer samples to the other. You can’t really hear that better on electric pianos. I know some piano sounds using 6 up to 12 layers of different velocities sampling structure, but you can’t really notice steps in sound velocity playing. So what I’m trying to say it’s not perfect. I don’t want to be too negative but the last thing is piano sounds kind a mono-ish. Piano sounds more like home piano, not like a (stereo) grand piano. Be aware of those issues because of that I cannot do recommend this app:( It’s fine for practicing at home but I would not rely that app to play live on stage. I’m really hoping that this app will be updated soon to resolve all the stability issues very soon. Peace! Show more

    Keeps Crashing in Au Mode
I love the sound quality of this piano, but unfortunately it’s been useless for me since I can’t load it into any daw without it crashing within the first two minutes. This issue happens in many programs that use to make music on the iPad Pro 10.5 (iOS 11.3). My hope is that you can work on this as soon as possible. When this problem is fixed then, I’ll give it a better rating. Show more

Nothing much to say... but best of the best
If you want a solid symphonic instrument catalog as a midi keyboard lover, look no further than Crudebyte Apps. Easiest midi connect ever. Very unsatisfied with other large name companies interfaces. This is WORTH EVERY PENNY in software and connection! No one will beat what Christian is doing. This is my first review ever on iTunes apps and really felt the need to say thank you and job well done! The idea of REAL super fidelity recorded instruments with velocity/instant use track sound is spot on. The high SSD storage space is also worth it no question once you hear. The HEAVY BRASS app is also a must have! SEVEN STARS ******* Show more

Never ceases to amaze me .
App developers need a huge factory overhaul of their moral compass. It’s went the way of Captain Jack's. They always find a different way to fraud. I get to download a free piano which comes with my x-37 Air. Except, the piano is missing. Non functional after I down downloaded it into my iTunes library. It is there in my iTunes storage, not ever to be removed and completely silent. You guys took me to another level. The last app I bought as an experiment. A game. GOF3. I paid as an experiment 365$ to pay to win. It was a disastrous crude same level game. You guys win the crown for now at least u could have added an untuned honky tonk bar piano. Just please take it out of my folder after I delete it, in 5-4-3-2-1-Mark. Show more

    Great sound!
I purchased the Japanese Grand and was not disappointed. Keep in mind I have not listened and tested other popular piano apps such as iGrand/Ravenscroft. Previously I was using Garage Band and Music Studio, and thought an upgrade was needed. I rolled the dice and went with Colossus and I am a happy customer. Show more

High Quality piano sounds and great customer support
I’ve had the Upright Piano since shortly after they came out with this app. It’s a fantastic piano and a good all around sound. Works with rock based music, jazz, and sounds fine with classical as well. There was an issue with a sample on one of the layers of velocity on a single note. I emailed support and they quickly responded to say they will look into it. They emailed me 2 days later again to say that it was fixed and all I had to do was uninstall the piano and re-download it as they had the newly fixed version already uploaded. I wish I had emailed support earlier. I give them 5 stars as well as 5 for the sounds of the piano. I also have the less expensive Vintage Upright. It’s not as good as the Upright model, but they also charge you less and it’s a different sound for some extra variety. I’ll likely end up buying some other pianos at some point, but definitely don’t need them all. Show more

Absolutely the best digital piano app!
The sound is so beautiful full and subtle no other digital app can come close to this one period. This must be a labor of love to make this app happened, Worth every Penney! Highly recommended! Show more

    Amazing sound, best piano app.
Don’t usually write reviews but here I go. I play piano and definitely prefer digital piano/keyboard or software with laptop when playing on stage. That said, a small setup is sometimes needed and definitely a go to piano which is why i wanted a piano app. I purchased the red Japanese Grand Piano and used it on stage. I was amazed by the sound, and quality; it delivered a rich and full quality sound of a grand piano. Comparing it with Korg module, ivory and other apps, this is hands down the best Piano app. Con: initial download is over an hourlong and other Colossus pianos cost more and take up a lot of GB space, but definitely worth it. Why do you need to buy every one
I think y’all should have it to where you at least have one or two pianos available to use but all of them. I say don’t get this app, it’s a money pit!!!! Unless you like giving your money away, never in a million years get this app.??? Show more

By far the best, 10 stars
I have igrand, really quite good; korg and ivory, both a bit electronic and a disappointment; Imperial grand, pretty nice; CMP, very good; and Ravenscroft which is very good. I have never played a Real Grand Piano, but the Colossus Dark Brown is, to my ears, almost perfect. I downloaded the Dark Brown, which took hours, but has been worth every minute! It is amazingly beautiful, so full and, well, GRAND! I can’t stop playing it. I also have bought the 3.4 gb upright and am equally impressed. BY FAR THE BEST. Only drawbacks are only reverb to adjust and crashes are common when changing the from one sound to another, but just re-open the app and all is well. I have been assured that the crashes will be fixed in next update. Show more

What in the hell is the point?
I accept the need for IAPs, but why the free download WITH NO FUNCTIONALITY AT ALL?! So, I'm essentially using a couple of hundred GB for the privilege of accessing the demos of your apps for possible purchase? Not me, Jack. Show more

    The perfect digital piano sound
Okay, I have tried them all. I have Korg module, with their ivory plug-in. It doesn't pass muster because the bass notes drop out when holding down the damper pedal and arpeggiating and with the right hand. I have contacted technical support department, and they tell me that it's basically a flaw in their program and they can't do anything about it. I also have iGrand. There are certainly some decent sounds in there. But they suffer from the same they still drop out as Korg module. Their techniques for voice stealing simply makes the piano perform unacceptably. I also have CMP Piano. The jazz grand is very good. The voice stealing techniques use the proper algorithm so there are no bass note drop outs. Their concert. It is quite good as well, but the base is not well defined. It's kind of muddy, but good. I have also tried Pianoteq5 on my Mac. It's not bad. But that sounds just are not that good either. Enter Colossus Piano. This thing is unbelievable. The sound is truly perfect. This is an unbelievably expressive instrument with the highest quality sound I have ever heard in any digital piano, anywhere, anytime. It is simple to set up, simple to use, it gives you an option to add hammer sounds, and a pad layer. The hammer sounds are OK to add some realism if you like that sort of thing. The pad layer is simply gorgeous. These people got it seriously right with this app. They also include an electronic music piano and a ghost piano, both of which are pretty much useless and could be chopped out of this otherwise perfect app. You truly nailed it with Colossus Piano. Just be prepared to wait a couple of hours while it downloads. And be prepared to wait a few minutes when you open the app for the instrument to actually load. It's called Colossus Piano for a reason. It is huge. But it's pretty much perfect. Don't change a thing. Show more

Korg and iGrand are better apps
I purchased this app with high hopes given the 14 GB sample size. However, it sounds nothing like a concert grand. As a matter of fact, note 26 (Bb2) has the same tonal quality of a Yamaha U3 upright which gives me a suspicion that this isn't sampled from a grand. The bass notes especially around where the bichords break into trichords sounds very much like a vertical piano. I've also yet to find a velocity adjusment that affords the ability to realize the dynamic range that should be possible or play consistently at ppp. Sure you can bang on it and it sort of sounds like a piano, but playing with subtle nuance is nearly impossible. Hopefully it will improve but for now I'm sticking with the other apps. At $50 it isn't the best value. Show more

You have to buy it for $50 just to test it
The app is free but it has no sound unless you purchase the instruments. Each instrument is between $20 and $50. Sounds great in the demo but I would prefer to test myself before I shell out that kind of money for one piano. If they would allow a one hour to demo the app for yourself would be cool Show more

    Solid
Solid samples, note by note, layer by layer, rich high quality tones. Takes an investment in high end gear with high end pianos to capture the tones, not just developer time for the coremidi and settings interface. Fun the output plays out to bluetooth Marshall (STANMORE) powered speakers. Show more

    Awesome Pianos
It is truly amazing to have this concert grand coming from an iPad. All I need for weddings and other gigs is this app and my keyboard controller. I have both an 88 note and a 61 note. They both work well with this app. The sound is so rich and full. Holding the keys for a long time and you can hear the sound board. I am amazed. I can't wait to see what you do next. Btw, thank you for the update that allows my iPad Air to work without using all of the memory. Again, awesome job! Show more

Hands-on, definitely the best piano on the App Store
Fantastic sound quality & dynamic control. Also love the pad / hammer / electronic modes. Can't wait to see what other models you add! And a huge thanks for the AudioUnit implementation! Show more

    Up all night
I read the review by TicTac and watched the demos. I bought the upright piano and like the other reviewer I was up all night enjoying the beautiful sound of this piano. I've used many other pianos and samples including iGrandPiano, SampleTank many of the pianos which come standard with Auria Pro, the Salamander piano as well as the Ivy Piano. I haven't heard the Alan Parsons Imperial Grand on SampleTank. Awesome app, thank you so much. Show more
