    Don’t buy/ doesn’t sound like sruthi box
This app is useless, doesn’t sound anything like harmonium or sruthi box, doesn’t have intermediate tones like G# and is complete waste of your money. Their website link for information is not working either Show more

I have been using this app for years. Love it. Dr. Pauline Oliveros?! That’s high praise.

    great app...a must have
this app has been good since 2008 but the 2014 iOS 8 updates rock! the app sounds great, looks great and it worth its weight in bytes. get this app today!! p.s., i gave the app 5 stars despite it missing audiobus support; my stars are freely given, without expectation of audiobus delivery later on. i would, however, pay for audiobus support. Totally cool
You have to have a little theory & program it, but you can make WONDERFUL SOUNDS with this thing!

I am not sure if the programmer tried once. Most useless I ever bought, minimal criteria for this program is sound, which I don't get it. Apple should remove from its site. Show more

    Fantastic drone app
This is a great sounding and feature packed app. I am a just intonation enthusiast and i love the amazing amount of flexibility allowed in specifying intervals and timbres. Very useful and unique. My first app review-- just had to say something about this one. Show more

    Quirky, But Enjoyable Program
Sadly it seems Mr. Lowengard is focusing on Droneo, but the srutibox is fun and *CAN* sound wonderful, if you're willing to play with the settings. I use a variety of noisemakers at night to help me get to sleep, and the problem with most of them is that they offer only a limited set of preprogrammed sounds. I enjoy the variety and customization that srutibox provides. Although a built-in sleep timer would be wonderful, you can use your ipod/iphone timer instead. Get this if you like drones and aren't afraid to fiddle and knobificate! Show more

Sounds are very very bad. Waste of money. Should be marketed as a simple multiple sine wave generator.

    Ugly Box, Sweet Filling
I bought this after listening to the audio examples on the developer's site; it makes a surprising variety of timbres, and with the Churn feature, you can crossfade between any two for an animated sound. It's a lot deeper and sweeter-sounding than it appears from the drab Formica interface. I'm enjoying exploring alternate tunings and learning how harmonics layer to form chords and textures. I don't like the clicks you hear when changing some settings, and I told the developer an echo effect would make the drones even spacier, but he replied that would detract from the authenticity. (Bonus points for responding at length to my emailed suggestions!) He also said he'll be concentrating on his Droneo app, so I'll probably buy that next. Show more

    Personalized Hyptonic Drones
I love this app! The interface allows you to easily layers different tones, timbres, pitches, and frequencies. If you are a fan of ambient drones, you must get this...

    Very Cool
If you know music theory, you can have a ball with this. I was originally looking for something that could emulate a Tanbura. This gets close, with the right scale, but it could use a preset voice for the Tanbura, and something to distort the waveform to get it to sound like a Tanbura drone. I realize that it wasn't intended for that, it is a SrutiBox simulator, but it seems like it wouldn't take much to add the Tanbura, and it would make it much more useful (at least for me). Still, think it is a great app. Show more

    Amazing App.
Thank you so much for Sruti Box. In addition to being able to adjust notes from the harmonic series, it also gives you the ability to play notes in a variety of tunings, as well as create your own! An amazing instrument and learning tool for musicians of any level! -michael Uhler Show more

    I Dig It
Its fun to have something like this if only to manipulate interval and chord tones against each other on your ipod at your convenience. I think the haters that are whining about the 3 bucks and I should have used logic and all of that are missing the point completely. The sounds are soothing and pleasant enough even if they are not totally authentic, and kind of remind me of some of the non-westernized pedal tone drones used on some of the recordings I have from people such as Ustad Bismillah Khan. Great app, but I need some help testing something
Is the new version causing anyone else's iPhone to overheat and stay overheated until the app is uninstalled? I had this installed for a couple days before I tried it. After trying it, I didnt notice anything odd, but a few hours later my iPhone felt really warm. I thought it was a body heat thing, since the phone was kept in an inside coat pocket. But the temp never dropped, even when I kept the device off-charger and near a fan. At some point I recalled that v1.0 of Sruti mentioned slight heating while Scrutibox was played...I guessed that maybe some function in version 1.1 wasn't releasing all of its resources, and this was causing some sort of runaway heating...to test this, I uninstalled Srutibox. I noticed almost instantly that my iPhones temp was normal. Has anyone else experienced this? This is not a knock on the app at all...I really enjoy it and wish I could find a way to port the sound to my Boss BR-600...but I can't play it if it's going to overheat my phone. Show more

    awesome
Thank you for this app! Please continue to support it. I love using it at gigs as a backup drone, and I'd love to see added functionality. Maybe a stereo reverb setting to amp up the room wetness? Show more

    Very cool
This is not, as one reviewer said, a "simple sine wave oscillator", it allows additive synthesis of 12 oscillators. While it may not match the authentic sound of a harmonium, it is in fact very cool. I agree that the sliders are a bit hard to control (it got easier when I found I could tap on the location I want it to go to, rather than trying to drag the button). My other complaint is that the help text is way too small to read; the zoom gesture did make the text larger, but then it was too hard to scroll. I'm only going to 4 stars because it is totally lacking in modulation options. Show more

    Not even close
I have a harmonium, and have use a shruti box many times. for those of you thinking you're going to get the deep responant, reedy tones of a shruti with this app.... SORRY! Like on of the other reviewers has said, and I didn't listen. It's a tone generator. Show more
