Great capability but has some bugs. Settings keeps changing on their own. Tap feature is flakey. Not very intuitive in setting up. I'd give it a 5+ for capability for the price if not for the bugs. Show more

    Not together
Awkward app. Not intuitive. Worst problem is it crashes half the time I try to add a new sequence. iOS 5.0.1 iPhone 4s.

    For Intermediate or Advanced musicians
I searched high and low to find this app. I wanted to re-create the metronome sequence that Virgil Donato used in his Video "Power Drumming". It's an 7 bar sequence preceeded by an 8 count, and the tempo bumps up from 100bpm to 200bpm in increments of twenty and repeats itself starting from the 8-count again until you're done with several single stroke variations. It's a killer workout for your chops. but all of the Virgil magic distracts you and/or discourages you, and makes you lose count and you miss the tempo changes. So i wanted to emulate it so all i have to worry about is me during the excercises. So... mission accomplished. and it's perfect and totally customizeable. It's too much though if you are just wanting a steady pulse or just to work on one time signature. I have 4 other Metronome apps and they all center on some aspect of timekeeping that the others don't. This is an awesome addition to my toolkit and I can't wait to dig deeper into it later. PROBLEM: the video clips on the website are out dated. I initially purchased this based on the demo online only to discover that the interface has changed. It took me another 45 minutes to do what I wanted via trial and error. I don't sight read music but I do have an idea about meters and subdivisions. A begginer or a total score-illiterate will get frustrated and give this app bad reviews... as you have probably already read a few. C'mon guys, it says "professional metronome" in the title. If you want a little clik-tink-tink-tink, then just buy the freebee ones. I'll give it 5 stars when they update the web videos. I really think that is probably whey some people are disgruntled about it. All the reivews are from 2009 and 2010 and are reviewing 2.0 or 2.1. This version is 2.5.2. Just get up to date and it'll be cool. Show more

    A-ok
I bought this for accelerando capabilities and it's more than delivered. Also the mixed meter stuff is EASY to figure out (not sure what everyone else's deal is). My only problem is that this is ergonomically tricky to use on the fly- the controls are so small that if you want to flip back to a slow tempo (if you want to repeatedly practice an accelerando for example) it takes several seconds to find an exact tempo that's more than 4 bpm away. If you attempt to slide the control with your finger instead of using the +1 or -1 buttons you'll overshoot by 20 clicks, almost always. Even expanded on the iPad it's not much better. I'd still buy this app for accel. and multi meter but I hope the interface gets updated to be more ergonomic. Thanks! Show more

    Good, solid, metronome
A good, versatile metronome. It a bit of time to figure it out but it is not a simple, single time metronome. It is complex but worthwhile to learn. I am happy with it and use it often. Show more

    Good app
Especially now that it does background metronome. I'm almost embarrassed to say I only use the app to pace my cadence on my exercise bike and I use it because my regular metronome drives everyone crazy when it tick rocks away. My family would probably rate this 5 stars or more. Show more

    Awkward as All Get Out
Nigh impossible to configure the way I want it. E.g., can't figure out WHY those stupid 'dot beats' are inserted at the end of each bar/phrase. Let alone HOW to get them the heck out of there. Show more

    Excellent! (with slight learning curve)
This metronome has a lot of great features. The ability to create a tempo map for a whole song (with tempo/time changes) is very useful. You can also save your tempo change sequences, apply a tempo scaling factor to the whole piece, and have the metronome speed up (or slow down) slightly each time through, amongst other useful features. It was just a little counterintuitive how to setup a "sequence" and "setlist" but it makes good sense when you get going. Overall, this metronome has horsepower! Money well spent. Show more

    Very Useful
I have played drums and guitar for seventeen years or so. Regardless of what my focus has been on musically I have been a metronome fanatic. After a bit of a learning curve I was able to program looping bar patterns with periodic tempo increases for the eight exercises in the Rudimental Cookbook. As soon as you get a handle on this app, the applications are endless. Please keep this app up to date so I can continue practicing with it. Very pleased. Show more

    Don't buy this app!
It is very difficult to figure out how to get the app to work because the directions are impenetrable, for starters. After messing around with it for a couple weeks here and there, I was finally able to program a 6/4-5/4 pattern into the thing. Or so I thought. As I pressed the play button, the screen went blank, and the app froze. Now, I tap on the app, I get a blank metron screen, and then back to the home screen after a few seconds. I wrote the company two weeks ago and they did not respond. I'm deleting the app after I finish this review. I would recommend frozen ape tempo 2. It will do mixed meters and is reasonably easy to figure out how to use. Show more

    Pretty good
It's really comprehensive. However, it has no tap to tempo app in it. I wish it went higher though, 220 is way too slow. It would be nice to have it go up to at least 500. Show more

    As unintuitive as can be
I hate this app. I'm sitting here feeling like I have to learn a new programming language. All I want to do is set up a bar of beats with audible subdivisions, but it beats me how to do it, even after consulting the user guide. I definitely should have chosen the other app I was considering (and now will have effectively paid more for once I buy it, as I will never use this present app.) Show more

    Excellent!
Where do I start...this metronome leaves so little to wish for. You can tap along to music to find out its tempo (use the tap pad, which is visible in portrait mode at the bottom center, with the little happy man SintraWorks logo in it), or simply tap a tempo to set the metronome tempo. (Not sure why the previous commentator did not find it, since it is so obviously there, and listed as a feature right here in the iTunes app entry.) Simple traditional practicing is as easy as with any well-designed metronome, but you get so much more if you need greater flexibility. The control over ways to vary beat speed and beat patterns (rhythm) is virtually endless. There is a large array of controls, but efficiently implemented and laid out. Since the default values are so well chosen, you only need to change those controls that are appropriate for the task at hand. And if, in spite of the intuitive interface anything is unclear, there is even an integrated user guide behind the About tab to dispel any remaining doubts. Many practical adjustments can be made in an instant, but if you want, you can spend some time essentially creating your own, well, compositions. I could list so much of what's possible, but quite a few of the previous commentators have already touched on the possibilities, so I'll keep it very short: if you want near absolute control over your metronome, this is it. I'm so chuffed a developer rethought metronome design from the musician's perspective, so we can wield all that power in a way that makes musical sense. I really have only one feature on my wish list for Metron: setlists, but I've been told that is already in the works. (And, in a way, very basic setlist behaviour is already available trough the list of sequences.) One last thing: the developer proved to be very responsive and appears to enjoy direct feedback from customers. Show more

    Wow
It's official. With this app, my iPhone has finally become my perfect music studio.

    Nice find
Could be cooler looking. The icon makes it look like it's going o be a stylish but it really isn't. The sequencing part is cool. Great amount of time signature possibilities. Would be nice if there were a way to tap the tempo you wanted. I have another metronome app that you can do that in. That other app also looks MUCH cooler. Great for 99 cents!!! Show more

    An Incredible Find!
For everything you can do with this app, it is easily worth a LOT more than a buck! Try finding a machine in a store that does all this and see what you'd pay! This thing is AMAZING!!!! Show more

Great app. Here are some ideas for possible updates.
This is an amazing start. Being a percussionist and playing pieces with all sorts of mixed meters and 5-let /7-let things is grueling, but this has definite potential to help with a few updates. If there was an option to edit more than one beat at a time it would definitely help A LOT. For example. If I wanted to program it to play a quarter note five-let over 4 quarter notes or 8 eighth notes I couldn't with the way it is now, but if an update allowed me to do so it would MUCH appreciated! Also, perhaps an update that allows the metronome to play two voices as to outline whatever duration of notes you want as your downbeat plus the quarter note five-let or whatever you're trying to play above it as to hear how it fits in with your desired down beat. Amazing app!
This is a great dr beat app for .99!!!!! This does so much. Everything from mixed meter to color assignment for beats and even a pitch pipe! Incredibly worth the buck!!!! Show more

Wow... a metronome AND fully programmable rhythm sequencer
I really didn't understand what was so unique about this app until I bought it and started playing with it. It's not JUST a metronome with a dizzying array of options, it's a fully programmable rhythm sequencer. Got a song with changing rhythms and tempos that you'd like to practice without having to stop to change your metronome settings? This is your app. You can program entire songs into the app with changing rhythms, tempos, accelerando, and ritardando, and play the entire song through with the metronome/sequencer keeping the ever-changing beat. Sequences can be saved for later use. Brilliant! Show more

    Definetly a must have!!
This metronome seperates itself from all the others by incorporating endless combinations of mixed meters and the capabilities of accelerandos. Brilliant and reliable!
