    Used to be awesome
This app used to be great. But the browser within the app is so buggy and slow I can't stand using it anymore.

    A must for guitar players
I started using this app somewhere in like 2009-2010. It's fantastic. It's helped me so much. I just wish that it would be revamped for newer iPhones/operating systems. Also, the in-app browser is garbage. I mostly transfer from the computer, but I just learned that you can use safari to download the tabs, so no real problem there. A revamping would be fantastic. ok
App itself it pretty good, In fact I was gonna give it 5 stars till I tried to use the web browser to download some tabs. The built in browser is obviously not designed to make it easy downloading tabs from the net… its VERY slow to the point I don’t want to use it at all. Show more

    Best
Best 10$ I've ever spent and if your complaining about having problems using the built in browser just use Safari ( just like you normally would) and go to download the tablature file and it will pop up and say "open in tab toolkit" and then works just like normal or using the old built in browser. Seriously I have no problems using it that way at all. Try it guys!! Show more

    The app has become useless
I used to love this app, but the browser has become completely useless making it virtually impossible to load new tab from the web into the app. I'll move on to a new app. Show more

Once great app that is now outdated
I bought this app several years ago when the iPad 2 first came out. Back then I would have easily given it five stars but since then the team seems to have stopped updating it. The last major update was version 2, which introduced their tab store, and added updates for the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. The 4s?! That was released in 2011! At least the app still works in the newest iOS versions, but they haven't even updated it to look like it was made recently. Opening up the keyboard or browser still shows the old iOS style, not the flatter look of iOS 7. They haven't even updated the iPhone version for the bigger screen of the 6, and that's been out for over a year. The browser is incredibly slow with ultimate guitar. Not sure if there was some behind the scenes war going on between the two companies over tab access, but it was pretty much unusable until I found out that you could browse the site in regular Safari and just open the tabs in tabtoolkit directly. Basically, the software works, it just feels dated. I still use it a lot but I haven't really come across any better alternatives. They could also work on the presentation of the tabs to make them more legible. I'd like to be able to have the show fretboard/keyboard display a system wide option instead of having to turn it off every time I look at an individual tab. Sometimes I just want to see as much of the music as possible and the extra lines would be helpful. It's also getting difficult to see some of the annotations while I'm playing along. For example the string bend marks are way too small and I don't know why they decided to display them above the staff when all the notations for hammer ons, pull offs, slides, etc are displayed on the fret numbers. It I'm playing along with a song, put all the notation where I'm looking, not in multiple places. Show more

    Great app but please update
Been using this app for the longest time now. Got the iPhone 6s today and extremely disappointed that is not optimized for it. Otherwise 5 stars.

    One Problem
I absolutely love this app. I've had it since about 7th grade and I'm now in my junior year in high school. The only problem I am reporting is that the screen on TTK will not fit my entire screen on the new IOS 9. (I play mostly technical death metal, and need all 27 frets) Show more

Used to be great. Now an obvious ripoff.
This app was the best in it's class, but now the developer has gotten greedy. Basically you have to pay 99 cents per song which have the possibility of being inaccurate like most tabs are. Trying to download tabs using the built in browser has been made useless, again, by the developer. It takes FOREVER to load the browser pages on my iPhone 6 plus with fast internet connection. On top of that, the auto tab detect doesn't even work half the time like it used to work. Show more

    Used to be great
This used to be a great app. For whatever reason it's impossible to view websites through the tab toolkit browser. Sites like ultimate guitar choke. I'm not sure why but this app-- which I paid for-- no longer has any use for me. If you want to browse external sites and save tab find something else. Show more

    lag
a few years back i would've rated this a perfect score but now everytime i try to download a rab it keeps lagging... took me an hour to open tab on its browser when it just took seconds on safari. tab works well and opening tabs from other sites is very cool! i have this on both my ipad and iphone and same thing when using the browser on both... i was hoping it would be fixed after a couple downloads but i guess they don't know about it... if ever fixed its a very good tool for musicians everywhere and of every age. laggy
use to be a really good app, but now it's difficult to get tabs and more of a hassle to navigate through ultimate guitar.

Loved it, lauded it...now I loathe it
This app is great. I have used it extensively with my students. However, browsing the resources on Ultimate Guitar has become so slow it is very painful. I am using an iPhone 6+. I would love to love this great app again. Please fix!! Show more

    Pretty cool app so far
I have guitar pro 6 on my desktop, and also have the guitar pro app, which I gave a positive review. This app, tabtoolkit is a pretty nice app. It's a player. It has its own tab store, but it will also play any of my guitar pro files. I load them in via Dropbox. Compared to the guitar pro app it holds up quite nicely, and has more realistic sounds overall than the guitar pro app. It also looks nicer. One of the weaknesses I've found is with tremolo strumming. It "ignores" it, and just plays the notes regularly. The company itself must be pretty busy, I wrote with a question about tabtoolkit working with the iRig HD and didn't get a response. But so far so good. I hope they fix the tremolo strumming on both single notes and chords. One nice feature is with the drum tracks, you can watch the drum kit as its being played. Also, I love the slow down "wheel" 1 percent increments. A very useful feature. Show more

    Review
It's a good app I suppose but I feel like I wasted my money first 12 songs I searched they didn't have and you have to pay a dollar for every tab. Guitar tabs is way better Show more

    This app is the best!!
I've been using this app for a few years now and I still love it!!!! For all the negative reviews saying it doesn't have enough songs, they don't know how to use this app. There is an in-app web browser and you can download whatever tabs you want. I personally download apps from the website ultimate-guitar and it works perfectly! Show more

    The worst app ever
Don't buy it. I know what your thinking. "This guy is overreacting." No I'm not. I bought it. I deleted it in 45 seconds. Burning your money is more economical than buying this app. Show more

    Don’t bother
Kinda wish I’d known how limited the song selection was. Really, there are about 1000 songs here… which sounds like a lot until you see that some of them are old washed-up bands like Meatloaf, America, or Wham. I wouldn’t mind paying for songs I wanted, but I didn’t find a single song that was worth paying for. Added to the problem is that I was mostly interested in the bass lines, and there are only about 600 of those. Compare that to a competitor’s app which advertises about 400,000 songs. Now that’s a playlist! Show more

    Sounds awful
When you play songs it doesn't sound like a guitar, it sounds like a cheap toy piano. I don't plan to use this app and I wish I could get my money back. Show more

    Must buy for tab players
Not sure why there are reviews complaining that this app comes with a few public domain songs to showcase how the app works. You are purchasing a viewer/player similar to Guitar Pro, Power Tab, TuxTab, etc. and not licensing music. It's a solid app that allows you to easily open your existing Guitar Pro and Power Tab format files. Show more
