Highly overpriced app, should NOT be more than $1.99
Absolutely not worth the money. Buy GarageBand instead, which is 1 million times better. Do NOT buy!!!

Good basic features, lacks important and crucial features for live performance
No transportation feature, no octave control on main screen. Piano sample is good. There is no way to layers sounds. My advise save your money and get garage band instead, garage band is the software to compete with even for live performance musicians. Show more

    nice little "keyboard"
I really like this app. It's like having a hand-held electronic keyboard, only there aren't a lot of instruments to choose from. It would be really nice if they added more, especially sounds like string ensembles, chromatic percussion, and other orchestral sounds. Hopefully they'll make these additions in a future version / update. Then it will be perfect! Show more

    Great wifi midi
I just went out and bought a new MacBook pro and the first thing I sis was look for apps that would connect through midi wifi network sessions using the Mac's audio/midi setup. I was very surprised how easy the connection was and the zero latency I got through my wifi network without having to create any special ad-hoc networks. The set up just plane works. I was controlling synths in GarageBand in seconds. The dual keyboard setup with mod wheel and volume pedal makes controlling AU instruments a pleasure. I was so happy with what I experienced that I stopped looking for other midi wifi apps! The app itself is extremely powerful even if your not going the wifi route. I loved the piano and arp as well. There are few apps we have on the AppStore that call themselves pro and actually live up to the name. This is one of them. Show more

    Pianist Pro Review
Do NOT buy this app! Waste of money, buy GarageBand instead because GarageBand has much more quality instruments and options to choose from. Overall, I am disappointed that I can't return this app for a refund! Show more

    Exports MIDI files, good keyboards
I've tried six or seven iPad MIDI apps, and this is one of the most useful. It lets you record sessions and export them as either audio or MIDI. So far, this is the only app I've found that will export MIDI files. This makes Pianist the app I use on the road to try out and save bits of music. The keyboards are OK. Pitch and mod can be done a wheel to the left of the screen. Amplitude is soft or loud depending on where you touch the key. This seems to work only part of the time ... probably due to how it maps to the synth I'm using. The "tuned" bars are very nice. You can choose from a wide variety of tunings ... from Blues to Arabian ... and use the bars to quickly generate background chords. When it loads, Pianist Pro sets up a MIDI session on your computer, but you still have to click "connect" in the MIDI setup dialog box. This means you need to open Audio/Setup and click the button every time you switch to Pianist Pro on your iPad. To make it better" 1. Auto-connect MIDI to the computer when loading. Then I could use Pianist Pro when away from the computer. 2. Change amplitude by sliding your finger up or down on the key. 3. Create a "chorded" option for the tuned bars ... bars should be set to play single note, 2-note chord, 3-note chord, etc. 4. On the two keyboard screen, include a button to set the top keyboard to "follow" the bottom one ... making it be contiguous to either the top or bottom end. This can be done by hand now, but it's a pain to set up. 5. I would give up "soft, sust, arp and drums" to have four, mappable MIDI control signals. But that might just be me. In any case, most of the other MIDI apps have some control capability. Show more

    my jaw is still hanging.
I got a great little midi keyboard for five bucks! It's really easy to hook up, too.

    No Standard Sized Keys!
This app has a lot of nice features, but one glaring omission - it cannot be configured so that the key width is the same as a "standard" piano! Please add a simple option to make the keys "standard" width. Show more

    More than you think!
Great program! (or should I say "app"?). Anyway it is a very cool app that offers much to those who spend time with it. Garage band is very limited. Here you control the limits. Sound is intense. Love the auto play function too. New synth sound very cool too. Come and get it! Show more

    Excellent piano app
I really appreciate the author for writing this... probably 5-10 times a week I find myself launching this app just to play with a tune. Excellent sound, simple ui. My 16 month old daughter loves it too, though I wish it had a "hide the widgets" mode for her. Thanks! Show more

    Tech support highly response
Pianist pro is a great app, no double about the. What separate them from the rest is their great customer support. I emailed the support team asking about some multitasking feature. They response back with the detail of why they implemented the current version the way it is now. Very informative. Highly recommend any app from this company. Show more

    Paino PRO
If you want to learn how to play, this is not for you. This is an elaborate studio for musicians who are full aware of reading and writing notes and playing the piano. Show more

One of my favourite apps on the iPhone and iPad
I absolutely LOVE Pianist which I have been using for a long time both on my iphone and ipad. The app. is very elegant, the sounds, piano, organ etc are great. I'm an opera singer and I learn parts and check notes all the time with Pianist. Can't quite figure out some advanced functions of Pianist but that's just because they keep adding deeper features.
