This app is great for improving your rhythmic accuracy. The settings allow you to tweak basically every aspect of the app so you can use it however you want. Also, the random exercises are extensive and great for practicing sight-reading. Really an incredible app I have all of our new percussionist install the app for learning how to play in time. And when I find the app lacking certain obscure rhythms, I email the developer and he quickly responds with a screenshot of a prototype. It’s incredible and a must have app for any musician regardless of if they are a percussionist or not. Show more

Almost uselesss for real sight reading practice only allows short sequences and can only select preset rhythms,

For the amount of exercises, you CANNOT beat $3. I saw another similar app that wanted $10 after the free trial. As a somewhat beginner drummer, this is VERY USEFUL. I can practice timing when I’m on the toilet :) ?? or wherever else I guess.. Show more

This is the best app for learning to read rhythm. Learning to read rhythm will help all musicians in their site reading skills.

I’ve been using this app to practice different saved rhythms for more than a year now. I’ll use it before a gig to tighten up my feel, and it really does make a difference to use this app as a warm up. Often, I’ll go through different rhythms and continue to test until I perfect it. I am 49 years old and went to music school. Decided to study jazz piano more seriously in my ‘old age’. I had never been great at reading so I am using computers to gain experience quickly. This app is perfect. I stuck it on random exercises and have not looked back. I am on level 6 of 4/4and feel so much better and confident about rhythms. It just keeps throwing new exercises at me and the beauty is I have it set so I have to sight read it 3 times correctly before it says I got it. This is exactly what I was looking for. You can start from the very basics like I did. I can’t think of a better or faster way to learn to read rhythms. Show more

I was skeptical at first if this is will serve my needs. Anyway, I took the plunge and found out it doesn’t have 12/8 time. I emailed the developer and he was really quick to respond to my questions and provided me a 12/8 template. Now I’m happy. My favorite part of this app is being able to modify the builtin rhythm exercises to match the music piece I am currently working on. This app really helps a lot. Now on to practice ;-) Show more

I am actually learning how to stay on beat (not ahead or behind!) and read rhythm thanks to this app. These were both major goals for me as a relatively new bass player. Thank you to the developer for all the time you’ve clearly put into this app. There are incredibly extensive exercises in every time signature imaginable. I love being able to quickly adjust metronome setting and choose between being tested or just practicing, both of which offer different supporting sounds. Visual feedback is superb. I like that I can stay at any level of challenge for as long as I want. I highly recommend this app! Show more

Good app for rhythm practice....just be sure to read the instructions

This is a great app for learning IF you read the instructions. If you don’t, you will hate it. The developers would benefit from one of those quick 5-screen intros when you open the app. Otherwise I love this tool for teaching me to count music and KNOW if I’m right or not. So hard to do while playing my violin on my own. Show more

I've finally found a replacement for the old Tap Master Rhythm System by David L. Shrader. This is it!

This app is great for learning rhythm and very well-thought-out. It's super simple to jump into an exercise; just open the app and you're ready to go. The exercises are highly varied but the description already tells you that. Another thing you can tell from the description is that it's packed with features and options. I found them all very useful. However, the app works fine without needing to fiddle with the options. Discover them at your own pace (that is, whenever you decide to peruse the menu). The best part of the app is that it's free and ad-free and still getting updates! Definitely try it out! Show more
