13 lucky years with Sound Studio — Just great!
I am a professsional radio broadcaster and often need to edit interviews, music, speech, create mixes, features, and the like. I have been using Sound Studio since 2005 on a weekly basis (if not more) and have found it to be easy to use, full of pro features, and reliable. In fact, I don’t know what I would do without it. Tried others - some too complicated for my needs, others so automatic-driven I have no control, still others crash during my work session losing all changes - and precious time. Sound Studio is an amazing audio tool, priced right, and full of features that let you control what you want. I highly recommend it without hesitation. Show more

Who needs Cool Edit or Adobe Audacity?
This is definitely a league apart from the more expensive Toast (with included Spin Doctor). It may not be as colorful as Roxio’s hyped product, but it permits precise and relatively easy editing of wave patterns. It’s not a complicated program for the audiophile who wishes to edit more than one track and to edit “sound on sound." But for editing a single broadcast, or podcast, or musical file, nothing could be more clear, precise and user-friendly. Moreover, the audio is professional quality (I use it for NPR broadcasts), and if you’re “into effects,” this program offers as many as Adobe Audacity and other expensive programs. One notable feature that’s been added to this edition: Automatic and Timer Recording. In fact, the timer setting could not be more easy to set and convenient to review. Sound Studio is definitely not resting on its laurels. And yet the company has lowered its price for an unbeatable value. Lately, or after Apple’s most recent update (possibly no relation to problem), I can’t seem to make Sound Studio see the songs from iTunes that I want to burn (in addition to my spoken commentary from a Blue microphone). Possibly an Apple program (or errant app) is prioritizing and nullifying my needs. I don’t recall doing anything more than sliding my iTunes on to the Sound Studio app, without redirecting them to my mic—I certainly wouldn’t want to re-record commercially recorded music on a microphone. This Program doesn’t work.
IT DOESN’T WORK !!!! I tried all kinds of ways to record songs from the internet, and from CDs through the direct inputs. “No Nada”. The only part that works a little is the “mic input". Also , there is no tutorial, or a operators manual. With all due respect- Don’t waste your money on this program. Show more

    Great Li'l Application!
You won't be able to remix Sgt Pepper, but its a handy simple to use audio app for general use. Very stable. I use it for most common audio tasks like recording voice overs, editing, etc. I've been using it a number of years now and Its never crashed or let me down in any way. Show more

OK Most third party AU Plugins don’t work
I found for the price it’s OK for basic use, I did notice that most of my third party plugins I use don’t load because of a sandbox test it didn’t pass, don’t know what thats about. Hopefully in future updates the developer will allow this app to work with all third party plugins, and I’ll change my review to 5 stars. Show more

Locks up my MAC and I can’t force quit the App
The previous version provided no issues. The current release of the application causes my MAC (macOS Sierra) to lock up. Once the spinning ball comes up, I cannot get out of this application, my other applications stop working and the machine winds up having to be powered off and back on to recover. Show more

The Best two track editor/mastering program for Mac bar none!!
I’ve used all the available two track editor/mastering programs for Mac since OS9, and I am telling you, beyond the shadow of a doubt, Sound Studio is the heir apparent to Bias Peak. I used to love Peak. I was a loyal user and when the company went under and I switched to OS X 10.11, the old version wouldn’t work. For that very reason, I kept the hard drive with OS X 10.5.8 and wiped my 10.11 hardrive completely clean, but Peak still wouldn’t even be recognized by the old hard drive any longer either. I was upset. But..my search began for a replacement two track editor that could utilize my plug ins, (Izotope in particular)> I tried WavePad, Audacity, Fission the list goes on. Didn’t like any of them!! Clunky, limited…I missed Peak. But then I stumbled upon Sound Studio and you know what?! I love it!! It is every bit as good as Peak and even quicker! Once i learned the key commands to do markers, choose selections, print plug-ins, i am back in business and comfortable as can be. Goodbye Peak. Loved ya, but I done found me another!! Sound Studio for users that were hooked on Peak is a winner! Please note, there is a difference between the App for IOS and the Mac OSX version. If you are using it on a computer, go to the site and download the full Mac OS X version. André Berry Show more

    Won’t launch
I’ve been a registered user for many years. Moved to a new Mac Mini in the studio. Downloaded the app. It cycles between bobing up and down in the dock at launch. No Console output. Need to get work done, so it’s off to something else. Show more

    Doesn’t Work With MP3s!
The interface is nice and relatively user friendly, especially for a novice. However, I was surprised and really disapointed that it will not work with MP3s. It prefers the Apple version M4a (MPEG4). It can open an MP3 file. But it won’t save a file as MP3. I’m at a loss. MP3s, while not an apple format, has been the foundation of formats for years. Why isn’t it includedi in this app? I’m going back to WireTap Studio. Show more

    Present Version of Sound Studio
Of the four music editing apps I have tried, this is the best. I use it mainly to convert vinyl records to CD. I found more difficult to erase the scratch sounds with this version than with the older ones. Show more

    Great App and support
I used sound studio back when it was a freeverse software and loved it then. Recently downlowded the trial version from their website to batch process files with it’s Automator actions. My actions worked great however after purchasing the software via the App Store I found that my automator actions were no longer available also I could not seem to get the LAME .mp3 encoder working. I contacted FeltTip via their website and explained my problems. I receievd an email and within an hour had my issues resolved. In the end I had to download the trial version again and was given the steps to take to activate that version. Once I did that I found that my automator actions as well as the LAME encoder was working again. Show more

    Clean, responsive
When I need to do manipulating of a sound file, I find that Sound Studio makes things very easy to get the job done. Just the scroll wheel alone makes it lightning quick to find what I want. Very good job on the clean, reliable, solid interface! Two requests: 1) When Apple switched the scroll direction of the scroll wheel to “Natural” mode, it took some getting used to, but now I don’t want to go back. The only place I find that it is a disadvantage is in Sound Studio, where reversing the vertical scroll wheel direction makes things counterintuitive, IMHO. Can Felt Tip add a simple toggle somewhere (maybe in the Preferences window) that would allow the user to reverse the effective direction of the vertical scrolling within Sound Studio? 2) This is not a dealbreaker, but it would be nice to have MP3 output as an export option. As it is, I need to go back and forth between Audacity and Sound Studio to produce an MP3 file. Thanks! Show more

"Improved waveform display" is not improved.
The latest update has shaded waveforms and they look fuzzy and horrible on a retina display. I rolled back to the previous version. Give us the option to have the old waveform display type or test the waveform display on retina screens because they don't look as sharp as before. Show more

    Great Application
I have used this app for seven years to edit wave files for my band’s first two albums and for radio station sweepers. Both albums received extensive FM radio airplay and one song went to #1. This app does many thing the very expensive pro audio programs do and in less time. Granted you need to know what you are doing to use this app to its full advantage. I highly recommend this app for people who want a simple program that can do almost everything Pro Tools does. I haven’t experienced the problems people have posted here. As with all apps you must learn how they work and not depend on knowledge of other programs to work the same as this one. If you want to the to use the space bar to stop and start the music it works. If you want it to stop at the spot you are at, press stop instead… The space bar will bring you back to where you originally started the song file. You can speed up and slow down with the app, but don’t need to. Just move the cursor bar to the time you want to start play and it will play from there. Simple! Show more

    Very Useful
I’ve been using Sound Studio for 12 years and I love it. It has many useful filters and a great user interface. Great tool for adding EQ to songs, changing volume, etc. Also useful for editing audio for video projects. Show more

    Missing a key element
Sound Studio will not capture sound from your computer. Want to record an audio snipet of a your favorite guitar lesson for quick review later? You can’t. This seems so obvious to have in a lite audio editor, but it is the reason I use it rarely. Show more

    My Go-To Conversion App
I’ve been using, Sound Studio, for as long as I can remember (ok, at least 12 years). It has been my Go-To app for converting my old, vinyl albums to digital files. Easy Mac interface, and well written help section, via the web. Just used Sound Studio this morning to create a new ring tone from one of my iTunes song files. I’ve tried some other app’s for converting vinyl to digital, but Sound Studio is the best, for me. Show more

    Meh...
Good: Easy to trim off the beginning and end of sound clips. Also allows one to divide a long recording into tracks an name each. Also helps autotag with LP art if that’s what you are doing. Bad: Doesn’t allow multiple tracks with overlaping (at least I cant easily figure out how and I’m usually good at this sort of thing) - makes me wish Audio Cleaning Lab would make a Mac version. Also, VERY BAD this program inserts itself as the default for playing all media files (easily undone but an unwelcome intrusion). So it does really basic things OK, but without multitrack overlapping, a bit limited for me. Show more

If you need Mp3 don’t buy this App
Maybe I acted too quickly but I bought Sound Studio to create video sales letters and podcasts. Guess what, it dosn’t save as Mp3! Guess what I need my audio files to be, you got it, Mp3. Bad choice for me. Show more

    Don’t update
Just updated…now it crashes with System error. Nice update! Wait. Reinstalled. Now it works. Odd.
