    much better than Tune Up
This app does exactly what Itunes is missing: clean up dead files in the library identify which music is in the computer and NOT in Itunes (you can select what to do then) remove duplicates I also used Tune Up which messed up my library hopelessly redoing metadata which was perfectly fine and NOT identifying missing files! terrible product - dont buy if you have anything in the cloud
I am asking Itunes for a refund for this product. If you use Itunes match or have ANYTHING in the cloud it wont work. You have to download everything for the match to run. I have asked for help repeatedly and there is no response. Bottom line - it is easier to manually fix our itunes than to run this product. Show more

    HUGE Time Saver!
I have been adding to my digital music library for the last 10+ years and had never really taken the time to organize it. I recently upgraded to an SSD hard drive and wanted to make sure that I wasn’t wasting space, so with the daunting task of sorting through my music library staring me in the face, I purchased this app, hoping it would at least help in the clean-up process. After running the app, I was nothing short of amazed. It did EXACTLY what it claims to do. What was going to end up being a weekend-long project, ended up taking less than an hour. Worth every penny! Not smooth with OS X Yosemite Beta
The GUI of Tune Sweeper keeps freezing now that I’m running OS X Yosemite Beta. Maybe Yosemite Beta is the issue. I’m not sure. But I have to resize the window to get it to refresh. Not a big deal but not smooth either. When I first used Tune Sweeper a year ago I noticed a glitch on the dupe count. In that case I ran it once, deleted dupes and saw a pop up advising there were X duplicates still not deleted. I think that was an erroneous message though. All the duplicates that I had manually seen in itunes were gone once I clicked the delete duplicate button within Tune Sweeper, regardless of what the pop up advised. Which is great! So it does what it’s supposed to do well. Even though it’s reporting and screen refreshing seems a bit slow/wrong. Show more

Its a killr must have app!!
I had about 24,000 plus songs and when I started the cleaning process at around 4:00am it finished about 11:00am. It did an excelent job it did miss a few but that seams to have been atributed to them being on an extended HD where it say was read only. And the other cool thing is it lets you know if its in the cloud or not. Now I tryed other apps like Dupe Away and this one caught about 1200 more songs than Dupe Away so I would say Tune Sweeper is a better app! So my advice is its worth every penny. Ps: One request for developers is that they give a little more control over search peramiters like Dupe Away does and it would be nice if you could select more than one search peramiter at a time. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
If you have a large music library like I do, this app is perfect for detecting duplicates, removing the file of lesser quality, all while maintaining the original file in order to secure your music. I tried using a regular duplicate file finder, and even after going through each file meticulously, I still ended up erasing many files and had to reload iTunes….an entire weekend of “housekeeping” my music. I am pleased to say that TuneSweeper not only worked without flaw, but was able to erase multiples without losing the core file. My music is now nice and organized with no stray files, no duplicates and all core files in tact. After having my first “ooops”, TuneSweeper is my new best friend. Don’t use just a regular dulplicate finder…you will regret it. TuneSweeper allows you to set perimeters in order to assure original files stay put. I highly recommend this app for all who have a large music library or even those who want to organize iTunes. From a music lover with OCD (haha)…THANK YOU!! Show more

    Frustrated
Tunes Sweeper identified over 30K duplicates in iTunes. I carefully reviewed to make sure the selections were legit; I was impressed. It took about 15 hours to actually delete the files, but I didn’t mind, since doing it manually would have taken me at least 15 days! However, the deletinion also wiped the mapping, so that about 75% of them “cannot be found”. I’ve tried selecting the drive in iTunes’ preferences, etc. No luck. What’s frustrating is that I cannot select through Tunes Sweeper the drive holding my music and video files. I currently have a request into the Wide Angle Software for assistance. No luck. If I receive help, I’ll be sure to post an update. (If you have your library on an external HD, beware.) Show more

    Two stars hoping it improves
Worked ok on the first pass. The second time tried to use it, it will not finish reading the iTunes library — just keeps girding. So I fear that when it deleted duplicates it also corrupted the library. That’s not good ... Show more
