Next best thing to a real guitar & sometimes better
The only two things I would like to see from this app is custom chords that can be built using all fret positions and sounds modeled to emulate different guitar brands and models. Show more

    Very realistic
This app is very realistic. I play guitar and this thing is really good.

    Fantastic!
Why did I not get this app sooner? It leaves every other guitar emulator choking on its dust. Beautiful design and performance. Get it!

Fantastic, but could be even better
I've only used this a few days and am really impressed. I'm puzzled, however, that you only get to choose between 6 chords. It means I often need to stop between songs and change the chord configuration. Especially in the Ipad version, and with the larger screen iphones, there is plenty of room to add an optional extra row if chords. This would allow a freer flow between songs, and make the program much more enjoyable to use. Please consider adding an extra row of chords! Show more

    Beautiful sound, feature requests
I love this app! There are only a few decent guitar simulator apps in the iTunes Store, and this one is tied, in my opinion, with iShred. guitarism sounds better, and supports iPad - iShred works on iPad, but only at iPhone resolution. There are two features that iShred has that Guitarism does not, so I want to request those features and this would get a hearty five stars from me. 1) Add a fretboard mode, so you can pick out individual notes. Having a bend feature and hammer-ons, are essential. 2) Create a mute pad somewhere, so that instead of enabling fret-muting globally, you could just tap a spot on the body of the guitar to mute just when you want it. My third request is a bug - not sure how widespread it is, but this app won't play audio at all through my Bluetooth headphones. Strangely, both Guitarism and iShred both won't play through Bluetooth, so whatever the problem is, is common to both. IShred hasn't been updated in years, so I'm planning on building a new relationship with Guitarism as my PRIMARY guitar app for both iPhone and iPad. Thank you for building a WONDERFUL app, and I look forward to your future updates. Show more

    Great sounding touch guitar
This is the first touch guitar interface that I have run into that actually sounds good and is playable. It has it's own synth but also allows you to use an external synth via MIDI. The interface is uncluttered and easy to understand but also has a lot of depth to it. And the best thing is that it actually works reliably. This is a very high quality app. The developer has recently made all the in-app purchases free making it an amazing value as well. Show more

    The best iOS guitar emulator
This is the best one, pay no attention to what the App Store charts may tell you. It's not that close. Best sounds, best interface, most responsive developer anywhere. If you get just one virtual guitar app. This is it. Show more

Very nice but needs a little more
Very nice. But would need ability to create custom chords and shoppers different chord positions to be get 5 stars. Also, would be nice to have additional guitar sounds... Les Paul, hollow body electric, telecaster, etc. Show more

Very cool solo, but add 4play and Audiobus, awesome!
For an app, it's surprisingly satisfying for a real guitarist to play (when no real guitar is within reach), and it's sound, although far from a perfect replica of a real guitar, is quite convincing at times. But listen to me, buy the in-app purchase stuff, especially the 4play thing! It allows you to route any of the guitar notes, bass notes, and chords (like a pad) to either the Guitarism virtual guitar sound, or any virtual MIDI channel. I highly recommend Arturia iSem for the bass notes, DXi for the chords, and the guitar notes through the internal Guitarism virtual guitar sound. With the virtual analog synths playing the bass notes and chords alongside a very convincing virtual guitar sound, it's very... old school prog rock. Wanna get really fancy? Open Guitarism in Audiobus as an input along with the two aforementioned apps. Put the awesome delay effect Crystalline in the Audiobuss effect slot, and then just use the speaker or your favorite Audiobus recorder as the Audiobus output. 21st Century prog! Show more

I can't say that I'm the best person to judge this Application, but there are too many extras that you can download without the thing asking for passwords. It looks more like there might be a scam behind this guitar. Show more

    Love this app
Great app that works so well for guitarists and non players alike.

    Closest to a real guitar
In all of the iOS universe, no other app comes closer to sounding like a real guitar. It departs from a real guitar when it comes to how it is played, but that is a VERY GOOD thing, because trying to shape chords and fret strings on a touch screen is annoying and stupid. If you only get one guitar app, this should be it. If you have more, this should be at the top of your collection! Show more

    Great Update!
Absolutely one of the best tools available for playing or writing on the iPhone and iPad. The midi in/out features and built in AUFX effects are really excellent. Thanks for another great update! Show more

Best of my iPad award 2014
The closest I've come to a 5-star review. For me, 5-stars would mean a more intuitive interface for secondary chord selection, an option for bending strings (most glaring missing performance option), and please, a simple way to save a performance, or at the very least a warning before I delete forever yet another chance moment of Guitarism inspiration, simply because I opened the app and touched one string. If you've ever been in a recording studio, in an unrehearsed moment messing around, and find yourself suddenly immersed in inspiration, when you come up for air, you quietly pray a voice in the headphones will say "I got it all on tape". Guitarism delivers this precious gift...then makes it so very likely you will moments later lose it all. But yeah it's awesome I open it every day! Show more

    I have an instrument now!
I didn't learn to play anything when I was young. I thought I was too old, too busy. I was wrong. I'm not saying this is a guitar, because it's not, but it is true instrument. Practice brings real improvement and you can play interesting, complex music. I love it. I have my iPad with me all the time, so I can practice anywhere. Show more

    Real Easy To Use!
Love it! Really quick way to ensure we have right chords on praise and worship songs. Absolutely my favorite app. All-time fav, for sure!

    Fantastic iOS 8 update!
Thanks so much for the excellent iOS 8 update with Audiobus compatibility! It sounds great and works perfectly with GarageBand and other music apps! Keep up the great work! Note: If you plan to use guitarism with Audiobus, please be sure to restart your iOS device and enable Airplane mode. Otherwise, the apps won't launch properly in Audiobus. This is an issue with iOS 8—not guitarism or Audiobus! Enjoy! Show more
