    So far so good!
I suspect there’s some love/hate for serious audiophiles, but so far I’m very impressed! (And the original files are always there, so be sure to read the instructions if you have a problem). There’s a lot of attention paid to newbies in the instructions/guides/etc, and its light-years ahead of the competition for getting your vinyl into the modern era. Its also careful to keep original extractions for those that need the serious post-production manipulation. They care more than most in documentation too. The software that came with my USB turntable is awful at best, this can download track info and artwork on top of the audio processing. I also honestly feel there’s a dedication to the future and recent technologies, so they can definitely keep my $30 to pay it forward! Show more

Stop Be sure you can actually hook up your turn table
I am not making any statements about this product per se but rather that I bought this and then discovered I can not hook it up to my new Mac Book Pro. The Mac Book has no non-USB inputs except one HDMI. My Denon receiver AVR 2310 ci has no audio outputs that I could find. So it is impossible to mate these two. I did connect the Denon HDMI out to the Mac HDMI in but nothing. I did discover an affordable phono preamp with a USB out so maybe I’ll try again. Show more

    VinylStudio
I was hesitant to buy this program after reading Zaneman's review for the current version, so I tried the trial version from the developer’s website. After recording one album and saving it to iTunes, I promptly purchased it so I could save unlimited albums. All I can say is that this program is amazing!!! We just wanted to be able to listen to our old jazz albums on our newer devices, and this program made it easy and quick. As far as any audio distortion or clipping issues go, they were non-existent. I wonder if the other reviewer bothered to set the input levels before recording audio at all. I followed the simple instructions, set the levels to avoid clipping, recorded at the highest quality, and was able to easily seperate the tracks and import them to my iTunes library with almost no effort at all. The audio quality is amazing, better than any digital music I have bought in the past. I highly recommend this program to anyone who has vinyl records they wish to listen to on their modern devices. Unlistenable
Not happy with this program. After hours of use, and three albums later, I’ve removed all of the albums that I digitized with this program from my iTunes library. This was mostly due to the extreme clipping and boost of of the frequencies below 31Hz. Its unlistenable. sounds nothing like the record. This software does a good job of looking up the ablum titles and applying them to the split tracks. What this software does not do very well in my opinion is remove clicks, pops, noise, album hiss and normalise. Instead, the inaudible clicks and pops of less than .0001 second in duration with an unmeasurable amplitude are removed. The software finds anywhere from hundreds to over ten thousands of these, depending on the setting per album side. Of these corrections, (in my opinion} may be ten or less, twenty in a bad album, are audible. Problem is if you have brass and precussion protection on, the software will miss the ten to twenty audible clicks and pops. Noise, album hiss to be more specific. I could sample it, but in the end it was still there. I could here it on all of the albums after they were digitized and added to my library. Normalise, this feature worked like a champ at increasing the overall input to the point of distortion, and clipping. All of the albums that I digitized ended up with an extreme low frequency boost which was centred around 30hz or so. I’m talking distortion level to the point of severe clipping. The normalise feature is found in numerous places from save tracks to filter settings. Not sure if it got applied numerous times or what, but the albums are unlistenable due to distoration and amplification of the low frequencies. Sounds nothing like the original album. Bottom line. This product is in my opinion not ready for prime time. What this did well was add the track names to the split tracks with no typing, and convert the file to MP3 and or other formats. As far as faithfull duplication the LP to a digital format, it made a mess of it. Show more

    Perfect for it’s purpose.
I’ve recorded vinyl in Logic pro and audacity in the past, and this illiminates all of the tedius work. I have a nice pro-ject usb with a few upgrades, running through an appogee interface, and loving this app. Only complaint, after having to pause a single track, I went to start the recording over. I deleted the track as highlighted as the only one to delete, and it cleared my whole album. This is the first error I’ve encountered, unfortunately it was during a recording of a box set, side G. Also, even with the cleanup features, I reccomend getting a decent record cleaner for the older or used ones. Otherwise I’m stoked to be able to convert a lot of vinyl, and enjoying the listening and organization process. Also a great way to know exactly what you have! Show more

    Great program
After getting a new iMac with OSX ML, my Roxio Toast 8's Spin Doctor no longer worked. I do a lot recording from all sources but especially from LP and not having easy to use Spin Doctor anymore was a real pain. The reviews for the latest ($$$) Roxio Toast 11 appeared to indicate Spin Doctor X wouldn't work with ML (actually it sort of does but thats another story) so what to do? So glad to find VinylSoft. Seems even more comprehensive than Spin Doctor. The interface takes some getting used to, but the results are fabulous. The pop-up explanations for the various functions are a big part being able to use the program easily. Highly recommended. Show more

    Great
I struggled to find a way to record my vinyll collection with other software. I tried many DAW which were cumbersome and added way to many steps to a already overwhelming task. I broke down and bought this App and haven't regretted it one bit. It's still not an automated process by any means but this takes most of the work out of digitizing my collection. Having cleanup tools and track slitting is great. not to mention Discogs lookup. The only thing i wish it could do was warp the timing back much like ableton. That would seal the deal. Show more

    Well Designed Software
I don't usually rate programs but this one is so well designed that I wanted to thank the developer(s). The screens are easy to use and the workflow is natural. The help is well written and when an unusual situation pops up, the help often suggests the fix. The tools like noise reduction are simple to use. I am using VinylStudio to copy my record collection to digital format. Show more

    Headache
This is the most complicated app I've dealt with since iTunes was updated. Extra downloads required for different operations. I just wanted to make good sounding files from my record collection. I didn't sign up for MIT!! Show more

    Great results, clunky interface
VinylStudio is the complete package for ripping records. It has a lot of tricks and options, and puts them all together for a single app workflow to get your old 33s into your Mac. Weak: the user interface is so clunky that it has to be a Windows port. Ugly, too. And a bit hard to navigate. Good: The unified work flow takes to from reord jacket in hand to finished folder of songs for iTunes or whatever your music app of choice is. Fantastic: The built-in click and pop filter with controls to save bass and percussion works better than anything I've seen. Old records sound like new downloads. Well worth the money. Show more

    Vinyl Studio
I have evaluated several similar applications and this has everything I need. It even gets track names and artwork. The UI isn't pretty, but it gets the job done.

    Best Vinyl Recording App
This app does everything I was hoping for and more. The ability to lookup track info and album art online while you're recording is great. I was also pleasantly surpised that I can record old 78's at 45 rpm and it will convert them to the correct speed. I have a large stack of old 78's inherited from family and this gives me the ability to record them and does a great job of cleaning up the scratches and pops. I recommend this app! Show more

Exactly what I was looking for.
This app is awesome. If you want to transfer LP's to iTunes you couldn't ask for a better app. It is incredibly easy to use, has all the necessary functions and not too much other fluff. So easy to download track names and album artwork. So easy to adjust track breaks. So easy to clean up LP noise- excellent sound quality. So easy to export to iTunes. Good job! Show more

    Superb application
A purpose-bult application that delivers on everything it promises. Tech support is as goog as it gets. If you want to burn your old vinyl to digital, there is no reason to spend more than USD $29.95 Show more

Does what it promises and does it well
I have just recorded about 65 tapes… easily. I can start one then leave by setting the recording time. I set the input to line in and can still use my computer … only the line in is recorded. Very, very easy to use. I make extensive use of the "split tracks" feature which provides a graphical view of the wave form of the sound file, making it easy to spot segments of silence. Perfect app for what I need it to do. Show more

    Awesome App!
This app is great! Definitely does what I had in mind to do with my new vinyl collection. Everything it claims, it does! The guided help was great and after a few tweaks here and there, I got my vinyl on my iPod and sounding amazing! Better than any CD or MP3 download could do. Definitely the bang for your buck! HIGHLY recommended! Show more

    Easy to use, and Awesome!
I've used this software instead of EZ Vinyl Converter and Audacity - it is very user friendly, you can look up track lists rather than typing them, import record art work, and easily transfer all of this to iTunes. The option to take the crackles out inherit on vinyl works great. If you are frustrated by the limited version of Audacity that comes with both Numark and Audio Technica turntables, VinylStudio is a must purchase. My only complaint is with the Numark, I couldn't adjust the loudness of the recording since the feature was disabled, causing the recording to be too soft. With the superior Audio Technica LP120USB, I was able to set it up where I could make these adjustments, and it sounds so much better! Hopefully VinylStudio can find a way to allow all usb turntables to adjust the recording volume. Overall, so much easier to use than other softwares I've tried, and the features for importing the track lists and artwork, burn CD's, and import to iTunes makes this the best software I have used. Easy to Use and Works Well
Many audio-editing programs come with a pretty steep learning-curve. This one is relatively easy to use. I'm only on my second vinyl capture and I feel as though I know the app thoroughly and can navigate it/use its features confidently. This app does what it's supposed to well and the dev/seller is attentive to support. In my experience the dev/seller was swiftly and satifactorily responsive to a bug report. Also I believe the price to be very reasonable for what the product delivers. I like how I can edit track-breaks or apply some declicking on a rip I already made, close the program, and come back later to finish exactly where I left off. All prior editing is saved. This seems like a great all-in-one app for the enthusiast who wants to get some high-quality transfers from LPs. I like it. Show more

Excellent app for recording from turntable to mac
I downloaded this to try out of desperation… was going to invest major time in using an audio recording app that came free… needed this to record my record collection from a vintage turntable (sturdy and classic Micro Seiki MB14, modded RCA cables) hooked up to an ART USB phono pre-amp, connected via USB to my MacBook Air. The MacBook Air needed the ART due to no audio in jack and the ART offers a superior audio converter anyways… I found the software very intuitive. The first "wow" factor came when I discovered that I can add tracks and modify track information while I am actually recording and that the software automatically began playing what I was recording through the MacBook Air's speakers, which is what I wanted. Splitting the tracks was a breeze and then the second "wow" feature: a super-easy scan command that automatically eliminated unwanted "pops" and "clicks" from my vinyl; the third "wow" feature: with only two or three mouseclicks I was able to save my tracks directly into iTunes without doing anything. And by the way, I was able to save my file and the actual tracks all in Apple Lossless format and fine-tune the settings on that, as well. Really, really, useful app for the intended purpose and priced just right. Show more

    This thing really works!
A year ago I bought a USB turntable so I could convert some of my old vinyl to digital so I could play in iTunes. I made a couple tedious attempts, using Garageband as the throughput. It worked, but what a pain. Everything had to be done manually (separating tracks, finding online info, etc.) I just didn't want to work that hard, so the turntable, and my records, sat collecting dust. Well, today I thought enough is enough: there must be something out there that makes this process easy. I did a couple searches in the App Store. My first search resulted in an app called Soundsaver. Sounded like it was what I was looking for, but it cost $50! I balked at shelling out $50 for something I wasn't sure would work. So I searched a little more. Finally, I stumbled across Vinylstudio. In fact, my biggest problem with this software was finding it in the App store! I read the reviews (not many, but they seemed positive). Sounded like it could be what I was looking for, and $30 sounded better than $50. So, I went for it. I AM SO GLAD!! I purchased the software about three hours ago. I am currently recording my third album (on this computer, as I type). It records in the background. If I want to listen, I can click a button and monitor. It starts by itself on needle drop (cues you when to drop the needle). It ends when the needle lifts, then prompts you to flip the record. It finds the album on the net. It gathers artwork. It splits the tracks. It fixes pops. After everything is recorded, split and fixed, it allows you to port right into iTunes. This thing is freakin' easy to use. The songs sound great in iTunes (scratch sounds from my old albums are gone, effortlessly). My old vinyl has found new life! Thank you Vinylstudio!! Show more
