The app needs work, the station does not
I grew up in the Bay Area and after living in several cities around the country, this is still the best jazz station by far. The DJs are knowledgable and give you relevant information, and their selection of music is a great mix of the best of different jazz eras. Unfortunately this app ruins the KCSM experience to some degree. Among the many issues is the fact that after closing the app and disconnecting my phone from Bluetooth, it somehow continues playing through my phone's speakers mysteriously. Aside from the bugs, it would great to have more features, like the track list that's available from their website. Show more

    Ugly, ineffective
It's a shame to have a great station and music abused by such an ugly, ineffectual app

    No playlist, no volume control
This app streams kcsm-fm just like the previous version. But they've deleted the playlist and the volume control. Why would they do that? Yeesh. But worse is how crashy it is. I don't understand this. Aren't there some College of San Mateo students who could make a brilliant app? Show more

    App keeps crashing

Still ugly app and a giant step backwards.
UPDATE: 31 Dec 2014 The latest version of this app is still ugly, though not quite as bad as the last one. It's buggier, too. When streaming, I can't open the menu or select the i icon. There's still no in-app volume control. Every player app I've used has one, a big convenience when using an iDevice one-handed. The original app was well done and a thing of great beauty. This one needs to be razed and replaced. - - - What happened to the elegant KCSM app?! This app is seriously ugly on it's own merit. And compared to the original app, it's a nightmare. There is no playlist. There is no volume control. And it's ugly. The On-Demand feature is so limited it has little to no value. When the phone locks, there's just a black screen with the phone's volume control showing. There's no visual indication you're listening to KCSM. This is low-bid work. And you've killed the previous versions forcing an upgrade. A very Corporate move, KCSM. Why did you do this? To summarize: New layout - UGLY New Features - MEH User Friendly Interface - KLUDGEY and LACKING Removed Useful Features - ACCOMPLISHED You need to get your money back from the developer. I've deleted it and will not recommend it. Show more

    Great station, mediocre app
This app has been, at best, a work in progress for years. The current version is barely usable. It refuses to respond to the slide up play button, and regularly stops streaming at about half hour intervals - the only way to resume listening is to close it (not just quit) from the double-click-home-button multitasking screen and reopen it. Until they get it fixed, use another app like Tunedin Radio to listen instead. Show more

    A Huge Mistake
I have had the KCSM app on any smart phone I have ever had, but this I can do without. Why KCSM deleted the playlist I don't know. I was on it multiple times daily and now it's gone? Wow! Show more

    PLEASE BRING BACK THE PLAYLIST!!!
The update is ok, but you lost the most valuable feature: THE PLAYLIST---which songs were just played and at what time. If I am driving in my car and hear a song I like and want to support the artist, i used to be able to access this information right from the app, now it is kludgy/not a friendly UI… The social media stuff is over blown…. Here is a further suggestion once you fix the playlist… have click throughs to the amazon and iTunes stores right from within the app…. On my kid’s school website, if I click through to Amazon, the school gets a cut/kickback from amazon, why not a public radio station?, it would curtail, the long ‘whine and grind’ pledge twice a year…. Serious failure
No volume control? No playlist? There is no improvement in removing essential features.

    Sleep timer needs work
The sleep timer's CANCEL button doesn't do anything on my 5th gen. iPod Touch running iOS 7.1.1. Please fix. Other than that, the new version is a nice improvement. Is the alarm clock supposed to work even if you put your device to sleep? It doesn't, which isn't very useful. Show more

    Kcsm
I recently tried to use the "share" button for Facebook. Didn't work. The spinning thingy spun for almost ten minutes. I gave up. Thumbs down!

    Bring Back the Playlist
That's the most used feature. Bring it back and link it with iTunes downloads to further monetize it. Why would you remove it?

    Good before, TERRIBLE now
Eliminated the playlist and volume control, why bother with this app now? I deleted it!

    Love it!
I live in another state and this station was a wonderful discovery. Like everything on the playlist and the announcers. Listening makes me feel as if I'm in San Francisco again. Show more

Apps don't get better than this...
KCSM obviously has the resources to get top app-writing talent since they are owned by the College of San Mateo (CSM). Their efforts shine in this app making it is one of the best of apps of any genre. Solid. Fast. Reliable. Works great with my LG Bluetooth stereo earbuds. Another great feature is the Playlist detailing artist, title, album. Note however that very late night emcee Bob Parlocha skips the playlist entries but more than makes up for it with his commentary on the artist plus whoever is playing what. His knowledge is vast. His delivery is without grandstanding...just the information punctuated with great personal story Show more

    Was great, then started crashing
I'm running this app on an ipad 2. It was working great until today. Now every time I start the app it just crashes and closes. When I searched the App Store for this app, it did not show it. I was wondering if it was discontinued, so I did a search online and found the link to it, but no updates, so I'm not sure what has gone wrong with this app. Show more
