    So close to perfect
To get straight to the point, I love this app. Closest thing to Audacity on the App Atore, and meets all my audio editing needs, and I was really excited to move all my work over to my iPad. However, there’s one major thing holding this app back for me. The track limit. The mixing work I do and the projects I’m in typically require at LEAST 10 tracks, typically more. However the limit in the app is only 6 tracks, which I find very limiting. I’m on a 2020 model iPad Pro so I know it could very sasily handle much more. Please raise the track limit even if just for premium members to something like 20. Show more

    Constantly crashes
Used to be a great app. Out of nowhere became completely unusable.

    Music Library won’t open
When I press on the Library, it flashes for a second and then disappears. Makes the app useless for me.

    Really good!
It was the only audio editing app that was able to do what I needed. It works great and is easy to use.

Has potential, but not good to get exact pitch value
I bought this because I wanted to be able to down pitch my music to 432, but the pitch adjuster doesn’t allow you to type in the value. Instead, you have a knob that’s way too skinny to get the exact frequency you want. Please upgrade it. Show more

    Fantastic
I never have any issues at all, the app works great every time with everything I’ve ever needed to do. I use it to store the audios I get off of websites like YouTube. It doesn’t pull audios from those websites but I can send them over to Hokusai seamlessly. It imports audios straight from the Apple Music app seamlessly (don’t know about iTunes). It’s very easy to edit, copy, paste, silence, fade in or out, overlap multiple audios and more. I haven’t even used all the features yet but it has worked very well. Show more

    Add MP3 feature.
I’m writing another review because even after an update, there is no mp3 feature. It could be the best audio editor ever with that. I’m looking forward to see another app which will do exactly what Hokusai is doing and will add MP3 feature. I’ll stop using this app that day, if they are yet to add the feature. I do love this app and I’ve been using it everyday for more than 3 years now. But I have to take it out to another app to get it on MP3. Makes no sense. Show more

    Vital Tool!
Great app in a very limited market of audio tool boxes. Love you family of apps just want more ways to use them. We need a DAW from you! Show more

    Great with Pro
I bought the pro version and I can’t stress how much I love it. I make audios for my instagram edits, so unlocking the pitch shift and frequency settings is a really cool feature for my audios. I also use it all the time to slow songs down and listen to them on repeat. Overall this app is so fun to mess around with and get creative with outside audios like sound effects and voice overs, highly recommend unlocking pro version too. Show more

    Exactly what I needed
Perfect for simple snipping of long mp3s into bite-sized pieces. Extremely easy to use and well documented!

    A great app for free
So I was a former user of audacity so I’m still getting used to it, but it’s a great app for free has all needed tools for free some extra tools are needed to purchase. A great iPad alternative to audacity. No complaints a 100% recommend. Show more

Closest thing to Audacity in iOS
If you like the destructive editing of Audacity, Hokusai will fit the bill. Hard to believe this app is free. With a proper USB interface and connector, you can record and edit high quality audio on your phone. Also good support - my questions were answered promptly so the app is in active development as we speak unlike most other freeware. Editing is a breeze and feels particularly fluid on an ipad - you’ll be dragging to highlight and edit. Cloud uploads are painless allowing to have a truly mobile recording experience. What this is not: this is not a full DAW. There are other apps for that. But a competent sound recorder program it is - for more options, upgrade to the paid version. Show more

    Hard Limiter
On the Preview of the pro tools list, the hard limiter doesn’t show anything. Is this included or not developed yet?

    Good app,
This is a good app and free too. I purchased a paid app and it only recorded then downloaded this full featured app and was able to edit and split audio easily. Show more

    Great for beginners
I’m not an audio expert but this has always been the perfect app for me. It’s easy to use and hasn’t let me down even once. I do and will recommend it easily for anyone that needs to edit audio even just a little. New update seems nice too! Show more

    awful
definitely try the app out before paying for premium. theres a lot of empty promises it doesnt deliver on. be prepared to spend 15 minutes trying to make the app deselect tracks instead of focusing on your project. youll spend most of your time trying to select or deselect things. stylus or finger its a stupid program thats problems could easily be solved with buttons or a toolbar. but instead you just gotta pray to god that maybe it will deselect the track you accidentally highlighted so you can continue focusing on your project. 5-second delay
I guess I shouldn’t complain about free software, but there is a literal 5-6 second delay with many basic actions, such as selecting or cutting. Using this software is a form of torture. Update: After writing this, I stopped experiencing the problem. And other than that issue, the app is exactly what I need. If you’re doing simple edits of voice recordings, its perfect. Later update: Then it came back. It’s so maddening that it offsets the program’s virtues. Btw, I’m editing single tracks of spoken word of 20 to 60 minutes. It’s not exactly a symphony of data.
