I recently had my entire CD collection professionally ripped to AIFF format, and I’ve placed the files on a dedicated SAN drive (WD MyCloud) for use with Sonos. At full CD resolution each song is over 50 MB, and pushing this much data through my wireless network means the audio is prone to dropouts, especially if I’m surfing the net. So, it became necessary to compress the files to a smaller format. With nearly 1TB of files (about 900 CDs), I needed a tool with excellent batch capabilities. This application does the job and I am very happy with the purchase. It’s simple, easy to understand, and performance is rock solid. The key feature is that it has a configuration item (in preferences) that preserves the original directory structure. So, I can create a parallel MP3 library to my AIFF library with one simple set up. The conversion process takes time, but once it’s done, that’s it. The latest version of Pro Audio Conveter has ten five-star ratings. With so many five-star raings, I bought the app. I have tried to convert 24bit flac to 24bit Apple Lossless. They convert and look good, but many (not all) files will not mount in iTunes. I convert the 24bit flaqc files with Tunesify and they mount. Show more

I agree, with what appears to be the consensus here, this is a great app - simple, yet extensive, easy to use, excellent results. Saves a lot of time, especially working with batches of files. There’s even USEFUL in-app Help, including a nice reference to audio file types and variables associated with each. Customer support is superb! with personal attention by the developer. (even helped me with an issue I had with Apple Mail - thanks Mark :-)… oops! better not open the door to him being Apple support, too. A nice feature I discovered is it’s ability to extract audio from video files (mp4, at least); handy for trimming down file sizes for those pesky online videos I save that are really just audio with fancy wrappers (and BIG file sizes). I’ve used plenty of audio conversion tools, a lot of them have cost many times more than this one and not performed as well as or been as flexible as this is. Very happy customer and would recommend it to anyone. Show more

I use this app frequently. It is stable, easy to use and pretty much any kind of audio file into any other kind of audio file. One thing that I like is that you can convert the same audio file into multiple targets at the same time. So for example I will often convert a wav into every possible level of MP3 conversion at the same time so I can choose the best possible quality under some given size limit. Show more

This is the best audio converter I’ve used. It’s well-designed and the interface is simple to use. There arent any useless features and its very streamlined. There is an option to import your converted files to iTunes as they are being converted which is a big time-saver. There is also an option to transfer the metadata. I can't believe how much trouble it was to convert .wma files to mp3s. I tried an expensive audio editing program with a batch converter (didn't work), a free application (Max, sometimes worked but didn't preserve metadata), and streaming the audio through VLC (extremely time consuming and results *ahem* varied). Finally I bit the bullet and downloaded this application. I can't believe how fast it was. The user interface is simple and obvious. This is going to simplify my way-to-many weird music files life. I had to come here just to add how much I love this app and how much it improves my life. I have to convert hundreds of audio files for audiobooks. They all have to be in specific orders, with the right frequency, bitrate, etc. etc. It’s a freaking pain to keep track of and to manage. This app does ALL OF IT. I just line up my files in their folders, click the preference that maintains the file structure, click Encode, and bam… 5 minutes later (I have a lot of files) the new files are in the right order, in the right directories, and have been converted correctly. I have used this app for awhile and converted a lot of flac and other files. I like the ease of use and reading the embedded metadata to create mp3 or m4a files which imports into iTunes. It does, however, have problems with OS-X 10.9.2 (Mavericks) where it doesn’t work. The company is aware but can’t seem to find an answer. I hope they do. Show more

This is the best converter I have ever tried is so easyyyyyyyyy to use and super duper fast i loveeeeeee it i pay $10.00 for this is a little expensive but no regrets at all. It's simple, fast, and gets to the point. I want to convert format A to format B and maybe adjust some options. Works perfectly. Highly recommended.

I was looking for something to batch convert and keep the folder structure. Just pointed to the music folder viola! I tried another converter and it was super slowww! This one is great because it takes advantage of multi-threaded processors. Great stuff! Show more

I spent a lot of time looking for a way to convert a ton of files to mp3 and edit the ID3 tags. To my surprise there aren’t many other options. Pro Audio Converter is the answer to my prayers! Another feature that I love is having it automatically put the converted file back in the same folder and delete the old file. Saves so much time! Editing the metadata was a breeze. It batch converter at least 7 files at the same time, so it was super quick to get through hundreds of files. Just go ahead and try to find another app that does all this! I dare you! Show more

This app is set up right, there's no doubt about it. Very easy to select files to be converted, just as easy to choose formats. Best feature: you can set up the output folder in Preferences, which means drag'n'drop, click, and you're done. When I convert 30 song files to mp3 and move them to a Dropbox folder, the whole process takes about 30 seconds. Show more

I have been in touch with the developer, and have learned that the 1.7.4 update that fixes the startup issue of this version is already submitted to the App Store and is awaiting approval for release. I notice he’s updated his app description along those lines as well, so I have returned my rating to five-stars, in anticipation of the release of the working 1.7.4 version. Show more

I loved this app—converted, RSS tagged, all in one easy step. Then the last update happened and now it doesn’t open. Fix it so I can change my rating. UPDATE: Emailed support. Update in process for the app. And got a solution for the gap. And on a Sunday! Show more

I rely on this app for quick conversion and it worked excellent for this until the latest update! NOW IT CRASHES AT STARTUP AND WON'T LAUNCH!! PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!
