Used to be pretty good but now adds are disruptive.
I’ve used this for a few years. It was decent. The thing seemed to limit the songs it played to a few, even though I’m sure of the thousands of songs I have downloaded to my phone, there are more than 30 or so at my target BPM, but I made do. Now, I can’t use it. This new update causes an add to interrupt the music with basically every skip. Then you gotta look down and hit a button with sweaty fingers to get it back to music. It’s more annoying than its worth, and I’m done with the app until it changes. Show more

    Premium works same as free
The only difference now is, there is no ad that pops up. My music still stops after about every 2 songs and I have to unlock my phone, go into the app, hit the stop button (even though no music is playing), discard workout, restart music, all while trying to keep my pace up. Tell me again, why am I paying for a subscription?? Show more

    Pretty useless for runners...
I have a huge library of about 2500 songs. This app can only come up with about 20 songs that it can BPM adjust to a 160 bpm pace... even though ALOT of my songs are very close. I even adjusted the ranges as far as they can go in the settings. I also bought the premium service because without it, it will only let you listen to about one or two songs before a commercial comes up and you to have to tap a button on the screen... stupid for this to occur in the middle of a run. Don’t bother with this app! Show more

    Had features, and lost features
What a bummer to have had features and now lost them. I’ve had the app for so long and really enjoyed it. I may take them up on their one dollar a month subscription. Show more

    So about that subscription.
I downloaded a paid version of this app a good while ago. At least a year. It wasn’t perfect, but usually did what I needed it to do. Today I launch it to discover there is a subscription. Ok. Sure. 99 cents a month isn’t that bad. But I can’t seem to activate it?! I’d consider giving it a try but... I can’t. On top of that the free version seems to play the same songs. In the same order even though shuffle is on. Look. I like the app. And I’d consider a subscription but 8 need to be able to purchase one first! And please tell me that there will be some sort of 1 month trial for legacy members? I feel a little cheated paying for something and suddenly not having the same functionality without warning. I’ll check back in a week. If I still can’t subscribe I’ll be looking for a new service and a new app. Show more

Won’t buy subscription for app I already bought
Edit: I also notice that the forward skip button seems to be cut off in the app (on my iPhone 6). A bit annoying since the app also doesn’t seem to work with iOS audio controls. I can work around this using a Bluetooth device, but it’s an annoying bug, especially if users are being asked to pay for a subscription. Original: For a few years, PaceDJ has been my go-to app for listening to music on my runs and walks. I have tried other similar apps but kept coming back because I appreciated being able to set and correct BPMs for songs saved to my phone. I originally downloaded a free version of the app and then downloaded the paid version to get premium features (removing ads, interval training). About a year ago, the free version of the app was removed or changed to paid. Now developers are switching the app to a subscription model. That’s a fine way to get revenue from new users. But the app is now set up so that people who previously paid for the app don’t have access to features they paid for. Not a great business practice. Please provide some means for legacy users to access features they paid for. Show more

    Don’t mind paying......
I’m going to upgrade to premium and I don’t mind paying as long as you support the app properly now. I feel it’s been very buggy in the past. Ignoring loads of my music that it should be able to shift. So it will play 3 songs from a 200 song playlist. So I will pay and try it out. But I will cancel if it’s not supported properly. AirPod support has been less than great too. Will this be addressed? Or has it been addressed in this version? Hoping I can come back and give you 5 stars. Thanks. Show more

    Awesome app!
I love Pace DJ! Exercising to music gets me motivated and moving, and this app helps you do just that. Whether you're a novice runner or experienced marathoner, you will love having Pace DJ with you on runs, both short and long. Show more

Great tool to improve athletic workouts!
PaceDJ is a great app to help runners and athletes improve their performance. Pace and tempo are so critical to maximizing workouts, and PaceDJ allows you to customize and fine-tune your workout through your favorite tunes. Additionally, PaceDJ can handle a huge database of music. I highly recommend!!! Show more

    App doesn’t work
I have iPhone 7 with all updates from iPhone. I setup my running playlist and downloaded all songs. Updated the BPMs on each song but tried to play the music for a run and no sound what so ever. I read in the FAQ to turn off iCloud settings and whatever but still nothing. No music. Lame!!! Show more

    Disappointing App
I have tried over and over to get this app to play from my Apple Music library and it refuses to. I have selected entire library (which is entirely downloaded to my iPhone) as well as creating playlists specifically for use with this app. The only music it will play is the 4 albums that I have purchase through ITunes. This app clearly does not work with anything but iTunes music. Very disappointed!!! Show more

Just what I've been looking for!!!
Love this app. My music, my pace=Awesome motivation.....

    Doesn't work
At first it wouldn't play a song at all, until I deleted and reinstalled it. Then after reinstalling, it would only play one song over and over. I turned off "BPM shift" and that caused it to play one additional song, but still no more than those two. My song library contains at least a dozen songs within three BPM of my target (151), so there's no good reason for it to just be playing those two songs over and over. It's just broken. Show more

    Good but not great!!
I absolutely love the concept of this app because I believe whole heartedly in running to a cadence. However there are still issues with this app. I've noticed that when I change playlists on the app it still holds on to songs from the previous playlist. I literally have to delete and re-download the app just to clear it. The next problem is that I would like a wider range on the BPM shifting, something closer to 30 +/- Show more

Works again ! Handles large music databases
The new update now works again, making this the single best app for music selection by pace, especially with large databases. If you are a DJ or insist on great precision, there are other apps but for the mainstream, this is the best I've found. FMJog works as well, but that app stops when in background, not an issue for PaceDJ. Show more

    Great App, Want Bluetooth option
I use this app for my spin class all the time, it's great, I can change the BPM/Music on the fly or set interval/time frames when I use it alone. And I love listening to my own music library...thank you for that!!!!!!!. My only request is that if it could work with my bluetooth cadence bike sensor (MapMyRide does) that would make it 5 star!. Since one not actually going anywhere (no GPS tracking) in spin, or on a treadmill, this would be a valuable tool for winter indoor exercising! Please seriouly consider for the next Update. Show more

    Used to be Great
When this app used to work, I used it for my cardio. Helped to keep me on pace and I lost a lot of weight using it. Now it's useless. Won't load, won't play, just freezes every single time. They should just remove it from the App Store. Seriously, don't waste your time. Check out AudioFuel playlists instead. Show more

    Was great
Now it just hangs. Make PaceDJ great again ;)

    It's ok
The app chooses songs based on pace well but I really wish it would save the song list. I agree with another reviewer that given the size of my library it should be able to find more songs. Finally the interface is poorly designed, too, in that it asks every time whether I want to share to fb after I finish a workout, rather than making that a setting, like mapmyride. Show more
