    Thbtttt!
The tracks don't play. The track animation moves but no sound comes out! What a dud!

    Good Material, Poor Delivery
There's a lot to like about this app, and a lot of great material, but the backing tracks don't work at all, and the tempo of the full performance tracks modified, which makes learning the riffs more difficult. Giving the user the ability to slow down the tracks would seem like a no-brainer for an app and magazine designed to teach techniques. Hopefully they'll update it at some point. But the failure of the backing tracks to load is a real problem they need to fix right away Show more

    Clumsy, cheats the rating system
The app is slow, cumbersome to use, and tries to cheat the rating system by showing a fake rating screen inside the app.

I love the audio and video features
Guitar Techniques is a great monthly online subscription, I find myself reading from cover to cover and playing along with the song transcriptions backups and lessons with audio and videos. The ability to resize the screen while concentrating on a part or to hear the part played with full backing track is invaluable to me for keeping up my playing chops and learning new techniques. I had been buying the newsstand magazine until I discovered the iPad version, now that I subscribe to the online version I can keep a large amount of the magazines on my iPad or archive my collection and call them back up when I need to look at them again. I save space when I am on airplane trips across country as I can use my iPad for an amp and play along with the magazine through headphones wherever I am. Show more

    Good for all levels
I am an intermediate player and I have a fairly good understanding of Music Theory. I know those words scare a lot of beginning and advanced guitarist. But the way the theory is presented in Guitar Techniques is painless. Little bits at a time, at your own speed. I Think that anyone wanting to learn some music theory along side the TAB method that this is a great "Text Book" for that. Show more

    Unreadable previews
Check out the Cooking Light app, now! While not perfect, there one thing that sets this app millions of miles above the rest. FULL PAGE SAMPLES!!! Because it doesn't have the micro-view offered by Zino and other Newsstand apps you can actually SEE what an issue offers. You almost want to buy every issue, matter of fact I'm getting a subscription! Imagine-FX, Guitar Techniques, Official Xbox Magazine, Zino and Future Publishing, pay attention and see how it's done right. Bravo Cookling Light Magazine! Who would think to take a great magazine like Guitar Techniques and put it in an app that is unreadable? The blurry cover and Table Of Contents offers no temptation to purchase the magazine or get subscriptions. So you are left with searching for the issue online in hopes of finds a clear description of what is being offered that month. Too much work! Low tech app for a high tech mag. What a shame! Show more

    Amazing
Best guitar magazine I've seen around. They have a lot of content and tabs for how to actually improve and learn guitar rather than just telling you to play cliche jazz licks til your brain turns to mush. Keep up the great work Show more

    Latest update doesn't work
App freezes. This is on the 8.4.1 iOS iPad gen 4. I've used the app for over a year. Removing the app, restarting, and reinstall seemed to solve the problem

    Best guitar mag ever
Whenever I head to my local bookstore and check out the new issues of all the guitar magazines they're all 90% fluff and 10% actual content. This magazine is the exact opposite. There are so many amazing lessons in every issue. From theory to fully tabbed songs to practice licks and phrases. I love the playable tab and videos that are incorporated in the issues now. Also the price point is much more friendly through newsstand. It's a win all around. If you love playing the guitar do yourself a favor and pick it up. The one criticism I have is purely selfish on my part. I'm still a beginner and it does feel like the magazine is generally geared more towards advanced lessons. I'd like a touch more material for people starting out. Show more

    Awesome magazine
The British know how to do magazines. Guitar Techniques is well written, contains lots of informative lessons, and the videos bring it all together. I'm glad it's on News Stand because it's much cheaper and easier to get to here on my iPad. Show more

    GREAT!!
This magazine was already very good in paper, but with this app GT is the closest thing to having a bunch of personal guitar tutors...and way cheaper!!

    Love it!
    Really enjoying my purchase!

    Much Love!
This is the best technical guitar magazine in the world. So glad it's digitalized. I would love to see the rest of the back issues with audio someday, but I have a lot of technique to learn from the ones that do, so I am doing just fine. Show more

    Good mag, horrible app
I am sooo tried of trying to download an issue, it hangs, then I have to go though all of the trouble of deleting the app, turning off the app, reinstalling to get to it, and even then it sometimes hangs. Just not worth the trouble after a while. Show more

    Great Instruction Tool
I'm a digital user, god knows I carry enough paper and other stuff into work every day. This magazine helps bridge a gap in my learning and changing in a positive way. Good articles and instruction techniques. Show more

    Hands down, the best!
Guitar Techniques magazine has long been my favorite music publication. Having the digital version available is a real money saver too, especially for us here in North America. I love the print edition and always pick up a copy when I can find it, but even when I do, it's expensive. For the cost of just two print editions here in the USA, you can obtain a whole years digital subscription! Finally, I love having a music periodical that's about playing music and playing guitar, and not just another 80-100 page commercial for equipment. Keep up the great work Mates! Show more

    Digital user
Getting used to digital edition. 98% great. When playing examples, the pause button at bottom disappears until you tap it again. Wastes time in replaying to learn phrases. Can you fix this? Also would love a slowdown feature in updates to the app. Otherwise, I'm so impressed by what you generate each month! Show more

    GT
This is the best publication for serious guitar players by far.

    Great instruction
Been playing for 30 plus years and still find something to take with me from every issue...love the iPad version! only is that I could download audio and keep it as an audio file away from wifi! Show more

    Raised the bar
After 45 years of playing I've become bored with 99% of the "educational" material available, finding most to be "quick buck" rehashes of stuff that's been repeatedly cloned (and if that sounded redundant- it was supposed to). Guitar Techniques, however, seems to find a fresh twist in almost everything they present. A bonus is rather than dumping endless repetitions of licks on us, their material has a point to it and a focus - but without being limited to a single style. Well worth the very reasonable price, even to us "old dogs" who think we've been buried under every possible page of tab that could possibly ever be published! Highly recommended! Show more
