Great app for learning, writing for drums
I second many of the positive comments from other reviewers, and would add that the ability to import songs from iTunes and slow them down is really helpful when trying to figure out or learn beats. One thing I'd love, however, is for the BPM to be adjustable down to tenths. The sync feature isn't perfect, and this would help tremendously. Update: iPod TruSync no longer works on OS5 :( Show more

    Pretty good!
The only thing that'd make it better is the ability to name certan sections (verse chorus ect.) and the ability to select multiple sections at a time for copying and pasting. Other than that it's great! Show more

    ODD TIME SIGNATURES!!!!!!!!
I've been hunting WAY too long for a simple drum beat app that exports MIDI and allows you to create odd time signatures. Just downloaded the app and it was immediately intuitive with hardly any learning curve. Simple interface on the iPad and easy to set up and use right away. The purpose of the app, to me, is not to have a million options and sounds at your disposal to complicate the writing process, but instead to give you the bare bones tools to create a simple groove and then export the midi into your DAW for structuring the song. Being a fan of fusion, metal, funk, jazz, R&B and modern prog/mathy/djent metal ala Periphery and Animals as Leaders, it's daunting to program beats in normal DAWs that are other wise easy to use like LogicPro. You get lost in the MIDI interface for odd time signatures and I find myself frustrated wrestling with the software instead of making music. This simple app seems to have really caught the solution for making semi-complex beats for Djent type metal or fusion. Once again, there are only a few drum sounds. The point is not to have a HUGE selection, although I would dig some nice "Toontrack SD" type sounds, but to make it easy to program beats. I'll post more as I dive into more song writing. It would be a huge hit with the Djent crowd if it included some pro sounding beats resembling Matt Halpern's kit or Bulb's SD sounds. Just sayin. Thanks to the developers for this app!!! Show more

    Awesome app!
This is a useful and easy to use app that anyone can get into! The only minor complaints I have is you don't have the option to go back to the last written or new bar when you're in the first bar. Instead, you have to click the "choose bar" button, go through a list and scroll to the bottom to get to it. A -new bar- option on the top of that list as well as the bottom can possibly make it smoother to navigate through the entire song. You might sometimes experience the bug where nothing will happen and you're still in the same bar, making you have to go through the process again, maybe a third time. Finally, there's no option to copy/paste multiple bars like in guitar pro, which isn't that big of a deal if you're copying/pasting sounding bars next to each other. Still, I'm sure something like this can be fixed in an update and everything else it does makes it worth the $2! Show more

    Mas o Menos
The interface is ridiculously small, the ever-present "bongos" are about 2 mm wide! And no way to resize, they should have spent less time on the sweet graphics and actually used up the iPhone real estate properly. Show more

    MUST HAVE for drummers.
This app is amazing- exactly what I've been looking for to write, store, and edit drum beats/arrangements on the fly. The drum sounds are total crap (what can you expect for $1.99), but that hardly matters. The meat of the app is the tab editor/creator, which allows you to save and/or export your drum parts in a variety of formats to several different places (i.e. Email, iTunes, ect.). The editor is easy to use, not to mention it has a metronome and quanitizing capability. The drum set used to record is clumsy, but I doubt anyone is planning on laying down 32nd note death metal with their fingers. You can easily record a rough draft with your set then edit or add to what you recorded using the editor. My one and only complaint is that there is no 6/8 time signature. You can write in 6/8 by using 6/4 and subdividing to 32nd notes, but this is a pain. **Note to developers: Pleases put out an update with 6/8 time!! This is a very common time signature and would be wry useful. THANKS!** Show more

    Need one more thing
I love this app, it both helps with my playing and allows me an easy way to right and rehearse new beats. One thing I would really like to see in a new update is a tap tempo button, as it would be nice to be able to change to what I hear in my head without needing to search for it. Show more

    Almost perfect!
Brilliant! exACTly what I've been looking for! 2 suggestions ... 1. screen flipping would be nice. Drum Tab 'orients' on the opposite side I'm most comfortable with. 2. Any chance in the future you'll include actual drum notation? I know I'd pay for such an upgrade(!) Show more

    Has potential
I downloaded this as a teaching aid to show my student the beat I asked them to play instead of writing it out. In addition they could hear the beat and see it at the same time. It worked well. There is some room for improvement but I think this is definitely a cool tool. Suggestions: - Love the email tab feature however the hihat line didn't line up with the other notes in the email. - I couldn't get the screen to rotate - The volume wouldn't turn up very loud - It would be nice to be able to reorder the drums on the tab page or add/remove the ones you don't need. For exampl as a teaching tool it would've been helpful to only show hh snare and bd next to each other. Overall very robust and full of features for the price! Good job! Show more

    Good. But lacking some.
What about an open high hat? More note accents would really be nice. Customizable kit parts and stuff like that. And when I hit record, I have no clue where it's going. I checked the voice memos. Not there. I think it's to record with an outside source. I'd like if the drums were more organic sounding too, with a selection of drum tones and kit tones that you could mix and match into your preferred kits. Can't wait for the update! This is pretty good stuff. Definitely a step in the right direction. Show more
