    Great sound enhancer
You have not heard your files correctly until you have heard them played though this app and an external DAC. Night and Day difference in musical contrast, listenability, reduction in high frequency hash, etc., etc. A lot cheaper than most of the alternatives, and seems pretty good about working with iTunes (needs the occasional restart if they don’t sync up). Works wonders with AAC and other lossy files as well. Show more

    smooth sound
Takes all hardness out of the itunes sound and delivers a smooth ear pleasing quality, even when using external speakers hooked up to my iMac. Tried other sound apps, but this one seems to be the best. Easy to incoporate as well. Very hard to use iTunes natural sound anymore once you have crossed over to Bitperfect. Show more

    A bit sketchy
When it is working, it is great, but about 50% of the time it seems to have trouble consistently generating an output signal. Or perhaps it's having trouble getting a signal. Anyway, I've given up using it as it's too much trouble trying to persuade it to work Show more

BitPerfect works great if you have a great stereo!
I find Bitperfect to be a very effective product! It makes my iTunes sound like a really high end CD player. I would describe the improved sound as: the digital audio file being “restored”, so that the soundstage becomes fuller and the music sounds “rounder”, more dynamic, more full of tone and timing. It reduces the harsh “digital” quality and presents the music mush closer to the ideal, original, pleasant sounding analog recording. That said, it is designed for Audiophile use, and if you don’t have really good speakers and a good external DAC, you probably won’t hear any difference in the details. It is impossible to do a live “AB” compare of iTunes to iTunes with Bitperfect running. But I did ”AB” “Normal” iTunes against a really clean record, and then iTunes/Bitperfect against the same record. The difference was very obvious, Bitperfect makes the music noticeably more dynamic, focused, transparent and overall pleasant. The best $9.99 you can spend on improving an iTunes based HiFi System. My signal chain: used 2009 MacMini (stock) – iTunes (all 16/44.1 CDs processed with apple lossless) – Bitperfect – an old USB cable – 2016 Schiit Modi2 Multibit DAC- 1992 Macintosh mx132 PreAmp – 1992 Mcintosh 7150 Power Amp – 2016 ELAC unifi F5 speakers. And It’s all set up in a critical listening arrangement. Show more

    Use external (hardware) EQ
I've not encountered the concern regarding software equalization, by including two "dvx Audio" 131s 31-band 1/3 octave hardware equalizers (one per channel) right after the nuForce uDAC (Digital to Analog Converter that I've ben using with the Audirvana App) and before the external amplifier. BitPerfect sounds, well .. perfect ! Show more

Does the job, but no EQ
Because BitPerfect is playing your audio instead of iTunes, your equalizer settings are completely ignored. Just something to be aware of if you care. In my experience, messing with the EQ for 5 minutes makes a much bigger difference than a nice DAC or exactly matching the source and output bitrates. It works as advertised (in my limited testing), though. Show more

Simple, Good, Works with no Bugs
I’m an experienced musician and electrical engineer and Audio buff but not by any means an Audio fool. I just bought a sweet pair of Fostex Headphones ($400) from MassDrop and realized well I need a fancy DAC to up the game of my 2011 MBP. Once I got that ($120 but very nice unit from OriGen) I realized the proper way to drive the DAC is by letting the source drive the sample rate. And that is all I really needed BitPerfect to do. I use BP 3.1 with the latest iTunes and now am collecting some Higer Res files. Do High Res files sound better or are they just remastered perfectly? ha. Not totally sure. But the tracks I do have do sound great, that I’m sure of. Does iTunes have bad sound? You have to be an Audio-fool to say yes unless you are doing some processing (advanced EQ) sample rate conversion or perhaps volume and even then I doubt iTunes is all that bad. For me, iTunes is set on 100% volume and I’m sure it is already Bit-Perfect, I’ve read enough and know enough about engineering and sound. Bitperfect does keep the system sounds out of my music and switch my DAC to the correct sample rate flawlessly. I avoid upsampling and all that other BS and keep it simple. Buff, not fool. Setup sounds great! BP works as advertised. For $10 bucks, BitPerfect is just that. Perfect. All those other fancy players are a waist of money uless you are doing real room EQ compensation or something fancy. Is the iTunes interface a love hate relationship? Yes, but I still prefer it. And Bit perfect rounds out the key feature I needed with is simply DAC sample rate switching. BTW When using Apple music, BP does not controll your DAC, your Midi setting does. Show more

    Annoying little quirks
I love using it. I hear a difference between BitPerfect and Apple’s iTunes. However, every time I have Bitperfect running, it routes every other program’s audio through the built-in speakers. So when I jump from iTunes to YouTube, I’m no longer hearing it through my DAC. Freaking annoying if you ask me. Please fix this. Show more

    Latest update crashes on 10.11.3
Love this app, I listen to music all day usally on it. Sound is incredible, 5 star app normally. This app plus my hi-fi set up = perfection. Best $10 ive ever spent. But now it crashes randomly and skips on tracks. Leave computer alone, crashes…blow on it, it crashes. When I control music remotely its so annoying having to open the app again to start the music. Oops, there was a skip while I’m writting this. Now it quit. It used to work ALL DAY. PLEASE FIX. I want my perfect bits back. Show more

Nice try, but needs more work.
This application improved sound quality using iTunes 12.3 and OSX 10.11. However it does not support Airplay, the crossfade feature is wonky and it behaves erratically.
