Good app but needs some small tweaks.
I really enough having the hymnal on my tablet but one thing that frustrates me is that when I select a song then open back up the navigational menus (Title or Hymn Number) it starts me back at the top (the "A" titles or hymn number 1). Would appreciate an update that opens those menus at the hymn you currently have open and therefore fixes this issue. It would be the difference in a 3-star rating and a 5-star rating! Show more

    Wish I had known
Wish I had known that all I had to do is type in my password again and it would give me the message that I had already purchased it. I didn't want to spend the $9.99 again. Even called Apple support and they could not help me. You are correct, once I agreed to purchase it again, it gave me the message that I owned the product and downloaded all the songs. Thanks for writing that review. Show more

    Great App, Needs minor tweaks
I paid for the full version of the app, and so far, I am very happy with it. There are two things I would fix....1) The Table of Contents should highlight the current song and automatically jump to that song when viewed. 2) It would be very handy to be able to "flip" (swipe right to left) the pages from one hymn to the next. Otherwise, I am very happy with this app! Show more

    Mrs
Purchased full version, but lost the purchase with resetting my iPad. App doesn't remember purchase, but God does. Cannot find anyone to contact either to fix. Would be an excellent program if app could remember previous purchases Show more

    Purchase not restored
As others have stated, I purchased the full version however when I downloaded the app after getting a new device, I keep getting prompted to purchase. Please fix ASAP.

    New bug
Please fix. When using the search feature in landscape mode on my iPad, the typing goes above the visible area of the screen....so, that I can't see the actual words I'm typing... I'm also not able to see the possible search results if it only comes up with two or three options. The search does work in portrait mode. Please fix. Show more

Will not remember purchase if you have to hard reset
If you have re-install apps from The App Store, you will have to repurchase this app again. Every time. I would like to think the problem is with the App Store, but I have purchased a good number of apps including this one and don't have any problems with the others. Also, I hate when companies state their app is free when it isn't. Please just be honest. If you want to state that a handful are free and the rest have to be purchased, fine,, but say it. This isn't even close to being free. I don't mind paying for apps, and I bought this one, but lost it as stated before. I won't do it again. Show more

    Sad effort by lifeway
Fortunately I did not pay the in app $9.99 upgrade. Lifeway's website say that you can sort by topic, but that is not the case. I am only given the ability to sort by title or number. For worship planning that is a pain. You cannot swipe through the pages , as others have noted. No ability to transpose. Seriously, this should have been a no brained. One of the beautiful things about the digital age is the ability to manipulate music quickly. This alone was a deal breaker for me. If all you are looking for is to find the hymn on your ipad, then this app is fine. If you want more than that, then go elsewhere. Really poorly made. Show more

    Great, but....
I use this app on a weekly basis. I am the Minister of Music in a church. I do think it is a great app. However, there are a couple of things that would put it over the top. Th ability to swipe between songs in a set list, or just swipe like I would be flipping in the regular hymnal. And even though I have already paid for it, it was too expensive. I just needed it. Bought, lost, found
I agree this is a pricy app, but it has what I need without a ton of web searching. I, too, lost the paid version and didn't want to have to re-purchase the whole version. I went to the support page of the app and it talked me through re-installing it. When it asks if you want to buy it, and you proceed, it can tell you already bought it and it updates the app. I have a lot more new songs now. Thanks for updating, but shame for not telling what to do up front! Show more

    great app!
I had no problem changing ipads and keeping this app. Since buying this several years ago at least 2 times though I have had to reload the app. I did this by saying that I wanted to buy it again and it said that I had already paid for it once and would I like to reload it. I said "yes" and it did at no extra charge. Show more

Only rated five stars to get you to notice it
I just downloaded this app and was very excited, until I opened it. Most songs you have to pay for to see the lyrics, most of which you can look up for free on Google. I was hoping to have them all in one place, but I guess not. Show more

    NICE WITNESS LIFEWAY!!!!!
Is this how the Southern Baptists conduct their business nowadays? Over charge you then keep re-charging you for the same thing??? Save your money! These people are thieves!!!

    Disappointed
There are a lot of great hymns in here. The problem is I pay for the whole thing then it keeps making me pay again. No, once is enough. Show more

Missing features make app nearly unusable
Recommendation - Maybe purchase this app if you want a digital reference of the print Baptist Hymnal 2008. Short Review - Content is “almost” identical to the print Baptist Hymnal - Technically, this app is somewhat unstable and the features are extremely unfriendly to the user Long Review I was very excited when I ran across this app in the app store a year or two ago. As a Worship Leader of a church that uses hymnals, I have looked for some time for something that would replace my bulky hymnal and give me more flexibility. The content is almost perfect in this hymnal. The digital pages look like the print version (the app description says they are taken from the actually printer files for the hymnal). While very rare, there are a few hymns where letters are missing from certain words. An example is the second page of #66 Open the Eyes of My Heart which says “To s e Y u” instead of “To see You.” Technically, this app is not user friendly and is often times unstable. I’ll address the features first, then the stability issues. Title and Hymn Num lists have no way to quickly jump down into the list. The list always opens at the top. If you need to get to hymn #674 in the Hymn Num list, prepare to swipe your finger upwards 15 times (at least that’s how many swipes it took me). Pages do not fit on the screen, but run off. When a page opens on screen, the bottom of the page is cut off, meaning you’re missing the bottom line of music and the notation at the bottom. Even if you pinch jester to shrink the page, it goes back to this default size. No sideways jesture page turn. For leading a congregation or choir, this one issue makes using the app impossible for me. When you have a multiple page hymn, you’re constantly having to scroll up and down with your finger hoping the page ends up in the correct place. A hymn like #70 You Are Holy, which is three pages, is impossible even in a controlled environment to scroll to the right place. This is compounded by the fact that an entire single page does not fit on the screen. Setlist is really more like a favorites list. You can add hymns to the set list, but to go to another song in the list, you have to click Setlist again, find the song in the list, and click the song title. No way to actually quickly scan through hymns in order. If you wanted to look through several hymns in a row, you would have to go to Hymn Num, click a song, view the song, click Hymn Num, scroll down in the list to where you previously were, click the next number, view the hymn, etc. No access or way to purchase hymns from the extended hymnal. There is no access to hymns past #674. The only hymns available are from the printed version. App does not like multitasking/switching. Open the app, double tap the home button, select a different app, then go back to this app. Seems that usually 5 out of 7 times the app will freeze on return, then close itself. Latest update was not backwards compatible with my version of IOS. Was thrilled to see an update to this app. When I updated, it would no longer run under my older version of IOS, even though it was supposed to. So I updated my IOS to be able to run the app. Purchased hymns can get lost during updates/reinstalls of the main app. You can reinstall them for free, however. My Hope The content of this app is great (other than a few missing letters), but the technical shell of the app is nearly unusable. Anatoli Rastorgouev’s Baptist Hymnal has poor content, but the technical shell is great. I would love to see these two apps merged together. It would also be great to have a method to sort hymns by key (the content already exists in the print version of the Baptist Hymnal and The Worship Hymnal (2008) Resource and Planning Edition). Unable to restore!!!
Greatly disappointed....I'm unable to restore my previous purchase to my AppleCare replacement iPad. This is horrible business practices.

    THIS IS STEALING..DO NOT BUY
This app keeps charging you $9.99 over and over again for the same thing...it will give you a few songs then KEEP CHARGING for the rest. Every time you reset your iPad or attempt to put the same purchases on another device WITH THE SAME ACCOUNT, it recharges you. Don't wast your money. Show more

    Love This App!
I love this app! We have a limited number of the 2008 hymnal and this comes in handy when beefing to see the words and music. I sing in our choir and this app allows me to practice upcoming selections during the week. The set list is amazing that I can put the hymns in order and just click down the line to the next one in queue. Highly recommend! Show more
