Generally favorable. Seems to require stronger network connection than other apps. Biggest Complaint: Genre and Artist fields from the MC data file are not used the same way in the app. Albums categorized by genre display individually By album name in MC and by Artist in the app. If these were actually available to assign it would help. Pushing the same field usage to the app really needs to happen ! Show more

iPad 3rd Gen. I am so sorry but it immediately crashes after start. It had worked great before I updated ver. 3.33.

Just updated my app to v3.33 and now it won’t open. Closes as soon as I try to open it.

My first review of JRemote awarded 1 star because I could not see the icons nor would the app connect to my music server. But I changed my rating when JRiver’s support community recommended I change my iPad theme setting from light to dark. Then, on my own I discovered that JRemote would not connect to my server until another app on my iPad was already connected to to Wi-Fi. Doing those two adjustments turned my opinion of JRemote from “rip-off” to gold. There’s room for improvement with regards to adding filters and such, but this app does exactly what it promised, allowing me control music selection on my stereo system from my iPad. I believe! Since the most recent update, this app is unresponsive, flaky, and generally aggravating to use. I hope they either fix it, or revert to the earlier version that worked.

Will not connect to media center on my pc. Giving up

Updated five years later I see most of the negative reviews are recent, using earlier iOS versions. In ‘15 - This is the app to have for remote control of JRMC from iOS. The developer uses the host himself so his efforts are reflected in how often updates roll out. 5 stars Show more

This app was great until the last 2Jmedia center updates Remote disconnects constantly

I’ve been using JRemote for years... However, after the latest release or version you can only open and navigate, and when you try to play a movie it closes the App. I thought I’d wait until the next release, but it’s been maybe 4-5 months. Please note, on an older device where I haven’t upgraded to the most recent release, no issues playing a movie. Show more

Click on a video and it crashes. Many of us have left messages on their support board but we have received no response nor acknowledgement.

Would be nice enough if it would connect reliably. Rarely it will connect on the first time. Others it keeps timing out even if firewall settings, etc modified. After a dozen tries with no changes it will connect and usually stay connected. Show more

This remote app is one of the main reasons I use jriver. I have really enjoyed using it over the years to control jriver on my Mac Mini. It has been simple, responsive, and intuitive. Unfortunately my system has developed gremlins with this latest version paired with both MC24 and MC25 on my Mac. - As mentioned elsewhere some of the controls now display over the album artwork. - The overall app display does not utilize my entire IPhone XR screen. - Browsing music or changing the volume will cause the music to stutter or dropout. This has been getting extremely frustrating. * Given the complexity involved in the jriver ecosystem I admit that some or all of the issues above could be a result of something on my end. That said I have yet to find a remedy. Show more

It’s incompatible with the latest iOS 13.3 — it doesn’t even show up in the list of apps. It’s as if the software doesn’t even acknowledge its existence.

My audio won’t load on my iPhone anymore after updating to 3.30. I am on iOS 13.3

I have been using this app for a long time and it is quite. However, the recent update has a display error: the transport control bar sits on top of the album art image obscuring the controls. The controls still work but they need to be positioned as before the update. Show more

The sort by letter has never worked on this program. Now the search function doesn’t work either. Ugh...

If you use JRiver Media Center this app does a great job as a remote control for all the zones in your setup. However, for playing media on a mobile device it’s missing some features. There is no EQ settings, so if your headphones are too boomy, tough. It cannot play files stored on the device. It can *only* play media streamed from a JRiver server. I would also like to see integrated CarPlay support. Show more
