This is such a great app, like having an encyclopedia of grooves at your fingertips. The quality and breadth of the recordings is excellent. It’s great for practicing, so much better than using a metronome. It’s also great for composing - I’ve written many songs for my band (Rabblefish) using Drumgenius as the inspiration for the feel. App has been updated!! It’s great!! Look this app is great for practicing but really needs an update. There are a lot of bugs when exiting and reentering the app. Usually it just stops working and I have to restart the app. Dark mode. Screen rotation. More loops. If the app gets updated I will change my review, but’s it’s been 3 years since the last update. Show more

Got that purdie shuffle in there at last, im lovin it! The best metronome and an even better drum looper to jam with all types of styles to shed. One day maybe jdbeck, marcus gilmore type beats will make it to the platform, but now im just being greedy haha Show more

An absolutely great program. Unfortunately, the latest update is not compatible with those who choose the dark display seeing on our iPhones. Please correct this display seeing bug so that I'm not forced to switch to light display in settings each time that I launch Drum Genius. Show more

This is such a great app and I love to use all of the drum beats, but all of the text was changed to white, so it is now impossible to see the bpm against the white background. Please fix this because it is such a great app, but I can’t use it right now. Show more

The loops sound great, the variety is vast, the labor is of love. The UI, I’ll admit, isn’t awesome, but the content is excellent. This is the most fun and affordable encyclopedia of grooves you’ll find. It makes practicing fun! Or if you already like to practice, more fun! Show more

I have been using this app for the last year. It is a great source on rhythms and an excellent practice app for any musician. I am a Band in a Box user and have other apps in iOS that serve the same purpose, but Drumgenius is main app because of the simplicity and ease of use. This last update is incredible. I would have given this app 5 stars but it suffers from a severe limitation - you can’t export the patterns to use in another piece of software. Apple provides this functionality and other apps make use of it. E.g. the Music Memos app exports audio via Airdrop. It’s odd, and quite limiting, that Drumgenius doesn’t provide this functionality. Many awesome beats to choose from in all genres. my only gripe is the load time for previews. Almost none of the previews ever load and if they do it takes a few minutes. Show more

I’ve been using Dg for a number of years and purchased the infinite credit packs when I first downloaded the app. Recently, whenever I try to download one of the loops, the app crashes. I’ve “restored purchases” under the store link and it confirms that I have purchased “infinite credit packs” but they won’t download. Has the app not been updated by the developer recently? I’m using it on my iPad running iOS 13.7. It worked great before, but now it’s not working at all. Show more

I am not a drummer. I am an amateur musician who wants to play against rhythmic backgrounds. DrumGenius was recommended to me by my professional musician friends — drummers and flute/sax players — as the best selection around for realistic drum loops. Instead of trying to pick and choose, I downloaded all 400. What fun! There is one rhythmic feel I can’t find in DrumGenius and I can’t find in other sources, and would love to have it available on DrumGenius. It’s a jazz feel — simple brushes in a swing style. You may not be a jazz drummer, but if you would check out Beegie Adair Trio’s style on The Good Life or Oscar Peterson’s Quartet, tune You Look Good to Me - you’ll get the idea. Second question, is there a way to export a loop from DrumGenius to an app like GarageBand? If that’s not possible, is there another way to think about how to write, for example, a duet with two flutes and have the drum loop for the background? Thanks so much! Show more

Super nice and affordable app that fills a big void! Nice variety of useful patterns. Plays well with garage band and blue tooth speakers and amps.

As a conga player, I need to be familiar with lots of drum set rhythms I may encounter, this app has tons of them from every conceivable genre, very professionally done. And great customer service! Show more
