    Works beautifully
So much slicker than I expected. Moved all my Movies and TV shows to an external hard drive with about 3 minutes of clicking and 10 minutes of waiting. Now I have an extra 200GB on my hard drive without having to mess around with multiple iTunes libraries. Show more

A MUST HAVE for large media libraries...
I have over 3Tb of 1080p movies, about 2Tb of 720p TV shows, 102Gb of HD podcasts, 54Gb of Apps, and aprox. 50Gb of music/tones and audiobooks in my iTunes library. My library is the hub for Home Sharing on the three AppleTVs in my home. I keep my iTunes library on 2 RAID array 4-bay enclosures that can hold up to 9Tb each. I need for the movies (which are the largest files) to be on a separate RAID array than the rest of the library contents. Using TuneSpan makes getting those movies on their own RAID array as easy as select, drag, click! After I use the iTunes menu option to add a movie to my library, I fire up TuneSpan, locate and select the movie on the “Media” RAID array, drag it to the span area at the bottom of the window, then click the “Span” button to send the newly added movie to the “Movie” RAID array and everything is cleaned up and updated after spanning! Best part is never having to have more than one iTunes library or having to make sure that you have the CORRECT library selected and/or attached (if on external drives) which can be at best, confusing after working with multiple libraries for a period of time, and at worst, waste time and space and possible misplaced or forgotten media if you accidentally work with the wrong library for the content you want to add or organize. I love knowing that if I need to do some tidying up or organizing/tagging of one type of media, I can just shut that drive off from the Home Sharing setting while still letting the AppleTVs access the other RAID array and no switching of libraries to make sure that the AppleTVs have access. And I can work on and clean up the other drives’ contents, make sure they’re properly located and spanned without having to shut down iTunes if it’s in use by an AppleTV or another device on the network. Another great perk is deleting content: usually when something has been deleted from the iTunes library, it leaves behind info in the Library.xml file or if moved with the Finder instead of in the iTunes app, you can get duplicate files, incorrect location information in the Library.xml file or possible corruption of the media. Now, I just select the media in iTunes and hit the delete key, send the file to the trash can, then start up TuneSpan. Immediately, TuneSpan recognizes there are deleted library contents and asks you to clean up the left-overs and remake the Library.xml file so there are no location entries for media that doesn’t exist or has been moved in the Finder. The one issue I have had with the app was the display of missing or moved podcast episodes. However, after contacting the app author and getting IMMEDIATE feedback from him, this was not an issue with TuneSpan but with iTunes intermittently failing to save the updated Library.xml file when deleting or moving podcasts. The author was already in the process of updating TuneSpan to deal with podcast Library.xml issue but helped me fix the issue with email guidance and a script so I didn’t have to wait until the update to have my library perfect! The author was genuinely interested in my issue, quick to respond and offer help and guidance, and puts a lot of time and effort in to fixing even the smallest detail. If you have a lot of media, media that takes up a lot of disk space, or you just like to organize and have your media types on separate drives but don’t want to have to have multiple iTunes libraries, then this app is a MUST HAVE. I couldn’t have the 24hr. media center access on my network if it wasn’t for this app. I can honestly say that it’s the best and smartest app purchase I’ve ever made. And because of my experience with TuneSpan, I’ve also purchased and have come to rely on his other app, NoteAway. Peach Show more

    A Must-Have app from a great developer!
The combination of relatively dinky SSDs and big iTunes libraries leads to a lot of file juggling and pruning. TuneSpan is a very smart app that gets you back the SSD capacity that your iTunes libraries are gobbling up. TuneSpan works this way: It leaves the iTunes media directories and media access unchanged, but cleverly moves (“spans”) the actual media files to one or more other drives. Given that Apple prices its SSDs at about a dollar a GB, you can save some real money with TuneSpan. In effect, TuneSpan pays for itself if you span just 7 movies. In addition, the app itself is rock-solid and fast. It always has the integrity of your media content its top priority, and lots of ways to do just what you want. Finally, the developer really cares about the product and your satisfaction. The developer is very patient in helping you get things get back to normal if you or iTunes bugs do something stupid. Super app, super developer. What more can you ask for? Show more

    Such a useful app!
Where would I be without it? I have a massive library of burned CDs and DVD’s and this app makes it possible to have it all in one library spanned across different external drives and it just works. Show more

    Awesome app and developer!
The app does everything it says it does… and does it well. This latest update cleans up many things that were messed up since upgrading to iTunes 12.2! Outstanding developer!! If you have media in more than one location linked to iTunes, don’t think twice… buy this app!!! Show more

    Brilliant App! Fast and Efficient!
I was sitting here tonight thinking, I have to move all the music files on my hard drive Mac Pro 2014 to make room for more film editing and production work. I knew that I could make that happen by moving hundreds of tracks to an external drive of 3TB but I did not look forward to a lot of time and effort to make sure I did a good job. I have moved my library before and it is a big job. I searched the app store with “transfer music” and this fantastic app popped into view. I carefully read about it and it looked like the PERFECT SOLUTION! I thought the price was right for a quick solution. I downloaded it and within minutes I moved every music file to the 3TB within a few painless and lightning fast minutes, the JOB WAS DONE! What a brilliant job of software development and engineering! Thank you Mutiple Drive Support! Do not hesitate to make your life easier for the iTune library that grows by the years and will grow even faster with the new Apple Music app! Show more

    Works well
I download many tv shows and movies - Tune span allows me to very easly move the shows/moviews to USB devices and still have complete access. I can manage the space on my laptop. The UI is good, simple - if you select recent added, you can move all to external media with one select . The reason for the 4 stars is the one case - if a show has more then one file like SD VS HD or some other different versions(like iPhone) then tune span will not handle and it crashes. If the program would simply count the files - gray our the case that it does not handle then that would make it 4.5 stars. 5 stars would be to handle the muti file case. Show more
