Update July 2020: Stopped working as great as it used to, it doesnt show the artwork of the song and it doesnt display the year either... this app has been amazing for a long while but as of rn is not worth it UPDATE to my old review: I figured out how to have the name of artist, song, album... you can decide what it will show on the menu bar, you just have to choose maximum width and adjust that because by default is 'logo only'. This is the perfect app that has all the features I was looking for. Kudos to the Dev/s. PS: As an extra feature maybe adding lyrics would be nice, frankly, I would pay for an app this well developed. OLD REVIEW: Works great but there is one feature that doesn't work for me and is the name of song, artist, album on the menu bar, the rest works like a charm, would be 5 stars to me if i had the menu bar names displaying. this is a really cool concept but it won't work unless i have the app store application open on my macbook, and i don't want to have that open all the time. might just be a problem on my end though. otherwise it's great. Show more

Grate work guys!

This app just works and has fantastic control over how it looks and operates. I have tried multiple alternatives that either don't work or are flaky. Spotica always shows what is playing with excellent control over text, background, width, style and any other aspect you might want to tweek. For a long time I was trying to figure out why Spotify was always starting up after a reboot when I'd set it to not start up then discovered Spotica was starting up Spotify via its own setting. I have the Menu Bar Width set to the maximum 600 pixels and put my system clock to the left for a nice, spacious menubar layout using Bartender. I use the menu text string {song}{ by artist}{ (year)} with no scrolling and no background image and it just blends into the menubar seemlessly. Under Mojave 10.14.6 it works great. Show more

With the latest macOS, Spotify and Spotica update the application does not launch itself anymore. Unfortunately no support, no answer to any of may emails. And when I think I pay for this app to support the developper... :( Show more

I downloaded this because I was so sick of having to pause/interrupt my work flow simply to open Spotify, see what’s playing, or “Like” the song using the heart icon. I use the Discover Weekly and Release Radar playlists a LOT, so I often find myself needing to “Like” the songs quickly to improve the algorithm and add new songs I didn’t know of to my playlists. This is the ONE feature I find missing from this otherwise wonderful app- I thought there might be a customization option, but I don’t see it! If this features gets added, this would 100% be a 5 star app! Show more

This is the best menubar appplication I've come across for controlling Spotify. Things I'd like to see: - Decrease the delay between changing tracks and the display updating - Directly expose a 'Save to your library' button rather than putting it in the overflow menu - A way to adjust the colors of the popover / dropdown Show more

Awesome job on this. I wanted an app that was backed by Apple and this was the only one I could find on an Apply forum and also the only one I could find on the App Store. All the rest wanted me to download and install straight from their website. Glad I can trust this one without my new macbook bugging out. This app was great when I first got it. However, once I quit the app, it never worked again. Not worth it

I wanted something so I could see what was playing on Spotify while I worked fullscreen. This is perfect! I like that I can customize the scroll speed, information, and width of the app. Keep up the good work! Show more

Doesn’t seem to do anything. Opened it and all it does it put a VERY annoying “No supported Apps” ticker at the top of your screen, even if you have Spotify downloaded and opened. Really hope this isn’t Spyware. Show more

This is an under rated nifty little app. The thing i like about this app is the location this app sits on the screen is convienient for viewing but not annoying and bothersome when working in other apps. Here are a few improvement ideas that came to mind when I first started using this app: 1. The menu bar when you right click on the song name is rather bulky and intrusive. An addition of a 2 finger click to expose more detailed song controls would be useful. 2. Add support for iTunes. This is a great app. Keep the same features just have this app detect what player is playing or selected. Nice job! Keep up the good work! Show more
