I’ve been having a pretty good experience with this app, but sometimes it will show 2 of the same album. The ampache server only shows 1.

First off, I love this app. One of the few that works with Authelia SSO in front of your music server. One feature request I would love is the option to sort songs in a playlist by name or artist. I mostly play songs from my playlist and not having it sorted by song or artist name makes it difficult to select a song I want to play. Show more

I can't recall the last time I used this app to successfully stream music. Paired with my navidrome server (running on an i7 6700k with 16gb ram) this app always fails to start teaming anything. Only workaround is to download the songs for off line playback. It's a shame because the android version of this app works fine on my older blackberry android phones but the ios version fails on an iPhone 13. Show more

Best of the airsonic apps. Will this ever be compatible with CarPlay?

I like how this app prompts me to explore my music collection with its home screen suggestions. Works great with my Navidrome server. Only wish there was replay gain support.

The app has great features that alternatives lack such as being able to download an entire playlist into cache rather tgan having to download one somg at a time manually. With that said, it is missing a very simple and cruicial feature: being able to view all songs. We can view all artists, albums, but not songs. Being able to scroll through all songs is the easiest way to find songs to add to a playlist or just find what to play now. Please add! Show more

This is a great app, in a space where it doesn’t seem like there are many that are frequently updated. The interface is slick and the configuration was intuitive to get it going. A few potential areas of improvement: 1. In every other music player in the world, the back button goes to the beginning of the track - unless you’re already there in which case it does go back a track. This doesn’t do that, so I have to go back and then forward if I want to restart a song. And if I’m on the first track of a playlist, it doesn’t work at all. 2. I’d be great technical playback details. Is it playing a FLAC file? Is it an MP3? AAC? Plexamp has this and I really appreciate seeing it. 3. There’s no way to clear the queue. Just replace it. This has the effect of the iOS “playback controls” always being on my Lock Screen no matter what until I kill the app manually. Overall though, a great start and I hope to see continued development. The application is generally good. It has some nice offline features which I appreciate. But it doesn’t coexist well with built in iOS controls. For instance if I start a track and want to skip tracks from the Home Screen there are no options to do so. Next track from action center? Nope. As far as I can tell it will only play the next track of the app is left open. With just a couple feature it could be the star of the subsonic genre. That said it’s free so I guess you get what you pay for. Show more

App gives so much for what it is. Thank you for making this. Even having the ability to offline my music is huge.

Edit: Out of all the apps that I saw that had updates, this was the last one I was expecting, especially since the last update was three years ago. The update fixed nearly all of the issues that I had with the prior version, and added a few other new neat things. Thank you for taking the time to revive this app! Updated to to 5 stars. Original Review: Compared to some of the other free options out there, this one is the best. However, it is in dire need of an update. Sometimes, I cannot scroll up and down through my library, the only way to fix is by restarting. I would like to see better control from the lock screen (eg: being able to scroll through the song). Also, a dark mode would be nice. That being said, I would happily pay for this app in its current form. Show more

I’ve been using substreamer for years to stream from a libresonic server over Airplay. It is a solid setup. This update required me to dump libresonic which might be deprecated, and move to airsonic. One I got that set up, it’s been solid. Could be my imagination or something unrelated to the app, but latency seems better. Mixed CDs are almost gapless where before there was sometimes up to a 2 sec gap. I like dark mode. I have bad eyesight, so I wish I could set it to use system - or just larger - fonts. ISub is being updated, so forced to use this. It will play music, but there’s a lot of bugs.

Worked alright, but two flaws in my opinion. The downloaded/offline folders sorted by the order they were downloaded instead of the server folder structure. When playing over Bluetooth, the player would sometimes play two songs at once. Only recourse was to kill the app. Show more

When it works, it works well. However, it seems that when it downloads audio (in FLAC quality in my case) it fails to play anything. Streaming in MP3 mode works for a few songs before stopping as the cache downloads a song in queue, et cetera. If these issues could be fixed, my review would automatically be five stars. Show more

This app is beautiful and a pleasure to use if you run over an unsecured connection. In 2019 with the ubiquity of LetsEncrypt, there is little reason to do that. Unfortunately this app is rendered entirely non-functional if you require SSL. Show more

The Substreamer app is a WONDERFUL app and it provides a fantastic service but some bugs make it impossibly frustrating to use! 1. This isn’t too huge of a problem because it’s not that bad I’ll still point it out this app takes entirely too long to load especially if after a few minutes or I open too many other apps or sometimes if I get a phone call the app will kick forcing me to reload the app a search for whatever it was. This can occur several times within my short 17 min commute to and from work. 2. I am not totally sure if the bug that’s at hand but when a content provider uploads say, an album when you access that album you’ll see double postings of each song. It’s only when you enable view offline that this problem is fixed. 3. Whatever is the root cause of the previous issue brings forth another bug. Sometimes when browsing the album I’ll select at track and the track just will not play, the app will know the song is selected and the monitor in my vehicle will even display the song. Occasionally if I choose the duplicate track the song will start but in far many instances I’m still with silence. Show more

without transcode, people will pay for it, using play:sub now, has problom with ape/lac direct play.

I would rate this 5 stars but there’s one problem. When I turn on “available offline” it does not work. Please fix this in on of your future updates!!!
