    Crashing
Keeps crashing since update to 8.0. Will not play or edit...goes to crash. Also won't work with audiobus.

    Love it.
Great app. Very flexible. Can record anything and quickly make music!!!

    Crap app!
Certainly not intuitive. Still have not found out how it works. If I could have tested it before I would not have wasted my $$$.

    Great app!
Best music app with a lot of options, very user-friendly. Thank you!

    A Greatly Different App!
It's a good app because it has a interesting spin on music. It can be a little hard to understand how it works, but can be fingered out.

    More than meets the eye
You can import using audio/copy/paste loops and do save as to keep using the same patterns with different loops. You can set the tempo, rotate the squares and make them lighter to vary effects and volume respectively. Run it through an effects app in Audiobus and you can come up with some interesting beats and grooves. You can use just about any sort of sound to come up with some interesting results. Show more

    It's a little TOO simple...
Nice for quick fun, but needs a little more under the hood to be even considered more than a toy. Just [2] features to add: 1) Add the ability to save your own custom, multiple libraries of 8 samples. It's limiting to only have 1 library of 8 samples of your own for each song. 2) Add the ability to import samples from outside the app to make custom sample libraries. If you did this, it would make the app not just super easy to do 4/4 time songs, but very powerful in the hands of more pro-minded song writers. If it had this ability now, I'd be praising this app and giving it 5 stars. Show more

    Me likes dat
Big fan of Yello forever it seems... They just don't quit! Rrrrispec! What a cool program that works like an instrument should and is also immediately accessible to other software! This is a supremely useful sample based utility. How can you say no to a gem like this? What is anyone who works with samples doing without this in their arsenal? Answer me dat will you! MOJO! Git it boyeeeee! Edit: After using this thing for a few hours (read 12 or so) I have some very good inspiration and love what I've made. The only problem is it lacks complexity to pitch the samples even... I certainly hope this is a teaser because I want more! I have rendered loops and cut then up in nano studio and I must say I may have reluctantly stumbled upon the magic iPad workflow! Big thumbs still way up I just realize that this may be more inspiration incarnate than practicality. I feel it's crippled with just one slot for a sample but the proof is in the pudding as they say. This is really only intended for making samples that you later manipulate inside another program. Potential potential potential! Give us more Boris! It's brilliant but not big enough! Edit for version 1.2: Verrry nice update! Crashes the sound source when the screen turns off, and I need to restart the program on an iPad 1. Got more inspiration and am creating loops that find their way into Live! Great program and interface. My wishes are that you could choose what measure you loop manually and move it from measure to measure like a performance, and that when you switch between 'songs' that it could wait for the end of the measure or perhaps simply stay in tempo... Future wishes are a simple interface for doing this in a live context with more grace than is possible now. Thanks for your work and especially for the sample pitching! Edit: I find I wish for a way to loop the 4 current measures. It's frustrating to wait for the sequencer to loop to hear your measure in context... Perhaps some minimal marker scheme? I think I could see this getting bigger and more fun. Why do I always see things bigger? I hope I don't paint a negative picture, I love this thing lol! I'm smitten with my iPad, I love the portability of it all. I'd love a deeper sample based step sequencer to emerge from all the coolies out there now! Is it a pipe dream? Yello have taken the first bold steps into an unknown future. Show more

    Works with AudioShare
This app makes it easy to record a sound or sounds and split the recording into segments that can be manipulated and sequenced in various ways. The sequences can easily be turned into loops and the loops can be exported into AudioShare. From there they can be processed through other apps. If you already have AudioShare then the exporting is practically automatic. Show more

    This deeper than you think...
Since you can control what is input this is a nearly limitless app! With a little work and a lot of imagination you can build amazing whole songs or just killer beats. With Audiobus you just dump it into your DAW (Nanostudio) and away you go. Those who get bored quickly are usually pretty boring themselves... Show more

    Awesome for my purposes
I am reading some negative feedback about this app and I must say it seems they are all missing the real genius of this app (which is understandable given the demo songs) I you want to work with multiple recordings and have more control over each individual sample just get something like Realbeat or Samplelab and quit griping about every app that doesn't do every little thing you think it should. The real fun for me in this app is the potential for loop remixing. Sample a phrase, write a sequence, hit play, then try moving the cue points around on the slice screen in real time as the sequence plays. If you can produce these sorts of contortions out of any other app in the iTunes Store then let me know. My music is heavily focused on the human voice as an instrument and for me, this is one of my top ten. Audiobus plus exporting loop friendly files to Audioshare would garner an extra star if there were space for one. Bashing an app because you think it should do more when you haven't even found its limits is a disservice to all of us. Show more

The philosophy of sound is genius. Great APP!
Of course Boris had always pioneered pushing the E-envelope, tweaking frequency amplitude and tempo since such tweaking was possible. It gets five stars would get six if I could. A time and color animated bar showing you at which point of the sample is recording Would be great for planning Local mayhem at specific intervals. He does guess well with the peak and signification algorithms. This app is more genius than you the user deserve. Where do I send money or a dog? I suggest getting out those old mix tapes of Kraftwerk, Fripp and Eno, Jaree and of course Yello! Show more

    Great Idea - Tech Problems
I love this app, it's a very interesting, fast and fun take on sampling, effects and sequencing. Unfortunately, too often for some reason it sits in the background running, like, CONSTANTLY. And I have not found a way to turn it off. Sadly had to delete the app, was crushing my iPhone 5 (was hot to the touch!) Show more

    Upgrade Yellofier!
This app could do better and I hope that upgrades will be here soon.Great otherwise.

    Neat ap!
Wow! This is indeed unique and doesn't require much real music talent to start making neat wacky patterns and synth lines! Not for making very precise accurate sparkling top 40 music though... Which is exactly what I was looking for this is for those who make alien glitchy freaky sounding stuff and don't want to sound like anybody else! Some nice sounding synths and hits in there from the Yello guys Show more

    Love this app!!
One of the most fun music apps out there. Love the audiobus support! However, I would give 10 stars (if they'd let me) if they would let you have multiple and saved recordings. I'd be happy to pay for a PRO version with those features. Show more

Super fun, simple approach, but a powerful tool for making music (or just having fun!)
A unique and original approach to making music and having fun with sounds. A great example of using the iPad to make a completely new musical instrument/tool/interface.

Unlike anything else I have seen.
You can import a sound file and set your slice points. Create your own or randomize the slices in 16 beat patterns. Save your work and export it. I've been creating my own samples to use in the program by having multiple elements all on one file i.e. drumbeat, bass line, melody and individual hits all laid out one after the other. Set the slice points and you can then use these elements as individual sound blocks. Contrary to the review below, you CAN load more than one sound file, just not in the same song. I love that it just keeps playing no matter what you do. You can switch songs, edit patterns or the sequence and it never stops. You can even record over the loop that you are using through the phones mic and capture part of your old loop and whatever other noises you have going. Brilliant! Creates amazing noisy glitchy beats out of anything you capture into the recorder. You can also achieve 'normal' beats if you use your own samples. The limitations are what make it so cool. I've yet to find a music app without limitations anyway, so use it for what it's good for, generating a ton of randomized patterns from your imported loops or sounds captured through the phones mic. Almost perfect!
Needs 32 steps for more intricate pattern building as well as the ability to add swing! Also the ability to control the release on each sample would be great! Otherwise this thing is incredible inspirational Show more

    Pure creativity
While I have one major request for this app--which I hope might be addressed in future updates--I have to give it props for it's design, depth, and functionality. It's one critical flaw is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars. My big, pleading wish is for the ability to record and/or import individual sounds rather than one long string to be cut up. If this function exists I haven't found it. The addition of this feature would change this app from a toy to a tool. I understand the developer's desire for in-the-moment creativity, but they are being a bit disingenuous as clearly none of their samples were created this way. (Oh, and one other nit-pick: black fonts on a dark grey background may work for owls, but not me.) Add an import sound function, and I will work with Apple to create the world's first 10-star review. In the meantime, congrats to all involved in the creation of this ingenious app! Show more
