Lately, my sound has gotten staticy and robotic just a few minutes into opening the application. It's weird because it effects every other application's sound output. But when I quit the app, my sound goes back to normal. Once I restart the app, it sounds normal for a few minutes, and then it's back to static and robotic output. Please help. UPDATE: I noticed it only does this w/o headphones, when I'm using the Mac's speakers for output. I've been using it for the last 30min with headphones with no problem. Weird. Show more

Changed my 4 stars into 5. This app has only gotten better over the years and now it is filled with so many instruments it's practically perfect. I love it!

I have been using DAWs for years, and I hoped that Garageband would be a approachable, yet powerful alternative to my main, FL Studio. Dead wrong. This app will treat you like you’ve never used a DAW in your life. Beyond that, it treats you like you’re even not good enough to learn what things do. It provides settings for the synthesizers so sporadically that you’d think it’s schizophrenic. It gives you LFO knobs like you know what those are, but no echo knobs. What? Like the people they’re catering this to are going to know what an LFO is or how to control them, but not an echo? Some instruments do have it, but, again, it’s so sporadic that you really can’t count on being able to dial in any setting, so there’s really no power here at all. The worst part is how it forces everything into loops. I tried to just copy some notes and paste them in the front of my existing loop, but it made a new loop anyway, and refused to allow me to simply copy and paste notes in the loop I was currently editing. It forces things into loops because, guess what? You’re not good enough to use anything but loops, loser. This app was such a huge insult to my intelligence and experience that I put it down immediately, and I’m honestly kind of beside myself after this because I’ve never had a program treat me this way. To even call this an entry level DAW is kind of insulting. It doesn’t teach you things a DAW should, in limits you in such a way that it is a direct insult to your intelligence. Use anything else. I’ve used GarageBand on my mac for a like a year and a half, the features I like to use in this app is the easy to acess user interfaces for editing music and a wide range of Apple AUI Plugins. But, during June 1st, 2022, all of my installed custom plugins can’t fully load up when it’s finished. It only shows numbers and slide icons instead of loading in the actually AUI plugin. This problem could probably be an unexpected bug or an accidental technical error but any other than that, can you please give me a procedure on how to fix the AUI plugin load issue, or try to fix this problem. I have never even opened this app but system diagnosis reflect numerous crashes coming from it that is causing all kinds of havoc with my macbook pro 2020 M1

Garage band is the best app i have used for music, ive made tons of music on garage band and i have resently been usong the awesome music loops availble.

For a DAW this advanced I can't belive there isnt a way to speed or slow down an audio clip without changing tempo. Please fix!!

It's insulting and pretty messed up that you'd give live loops functionality on Ipad but not on Mac. Expecting or rather coercing people to buy Logic.

i bought a m1 for this app and is freezing everytime i open or remove a plugin

I've been using garage band for many years. I like using it to write on due to the simple interface. I'm using a macbook air 2020 and the latency is problematic. I am using the internal mic and nothing else! On older versions of Garage Band you could make adjustments to improve latency when overdubbing tracks. Now you can't, the settings are gone so goodbye Garage Band. I guess its not meant for live recording anymore. I suggest if you have the same problem switch to a program called "Reaper". It can be setup to be pretty simple. Logic is way more than I need. This is frustrating. Show more

Hi, I am wondering why i cant add a music into my podcast from apple music on GarageBand. My mac book is MacMonteray 12.3.1 and I am not able to download iTunes to do that since it requires a previous software version to download iTunes.. so how is possible to add a music that I want (not from the garage band gallery) like this? I think that the Producer packs is Apples attempt to waste their users total bytes written TBW so they will have to buy newer computers or will have to pay for expensive repairs. This will impact small musicians and some users make a living off garageband and as well professional producers or people with massive projects that take up more life of their ssd's or hard drives. I advise to not update GarageBand or Logic if you have a small storage drive or want to maximise your computers life span. Show more
