8 years of piano lessons and I hardly remember a thing. A few minutes of "drawing" music with Sketch a Song and it's incredible how much came back to me. I also love how many choices there are for instruments; I would've loved to have played with this before "deciding" (or rather, my parents deciding) that piano was the instrument for me way back when. So fun! Found myself lost in the music making process, trying out all the instruments and try to be as creative as possible. Very cool! I recommend it for anyone!

The reason I love this app is that it encourages musical creativity instead of musical imitation. Although learning your musical scales and imitating music you hear is very important to learning music, the importance of free-flow creativity in music is often forgotten. Sketch-a-song gets children into the mindset that they can create whatever they want to hear. That is, to me, is the spirit of music. Show more

Super fun and easy way to make music. My kid loves playing with the app and is learning basic music making skills. Guilt free babysitting FTW.

In a word, Amazing! I just used this with my Keyboard Explorer Class. This class is geared towards 5 year old piano students students. We ended today by composing a song with Sketchasong. The pictures don't seem to match what one would or could do with the music options. I'd ignore them. I wouldn't ignore the musical possibilities though. As a music teacher for special needs students I can easily have them add a rhythm, melody, or harmony to a given piece or make up something on their own. Bravo for something simple yet tasteful in quality. Do re think the pictures. Show more

it was working very well when I got it but a day or two later it crashes over and over

Been using Sketchasong recently to doodle song ideas on the go. I feel like the way you can draw notes helps make writing a song more accessible!

My kids, ages 1, 4, and 6, all love this app. So do my husband and I.

Would be great, but it crashes after 2 seconds
