Does not work for DRM content
At the time of this review, there are 15 people giving this 5 stars, 2 giving it 4 stars, and no other ratings. So when I give it one star I am questioning if I’m doing something wrong. But I don’t think so. I have numerous of my own, purchased CDs that I converted on a PC to WMA files years ago. They all play fine on my PCs. The AudioTunes converter will convert these files to just e.g. 4 kb blips of sound, not the actual file. I tried multiple different files and multiple different ways to get them to convert (e.g. from external hard drive, saving to MacBook, etc.). They don’t convert. By using iTunes on the PC, there is a prompt which when selected will convert WMA files to AAC. However, iTunes on PC will not convert .wma files from my own CDs to AAC, and a message comes up siting that it cannot convert because this is DRM protected content. (There is no such message from AudioTunes but I am led to believe that is the issue). So I am left reburning some 200 or so CDs via an external hard drive to my MacBook pro, much like I did to my PC with the same CDs years ago. A note to the music and media industry (not like they are listening): THIS is why people will continue to steal music and media content. It’s a major hassle to listen to music I *already own* in today’s media formats. I won’t even get into the Yahoo, Walmart, and MTV Urge files I paid for and downloaded that have been impossible to transfer and listen to anywhere but the original devices... Also, I contacted Apple Care support for help on this issue and, with respect, they weren’t helpful on this issue. They directed me either to the web (e.g. download.com) or the Apple app store (hence how I ended up here). In fact, I’m not even really sure what service this app provides as the music which I’ve downloaded over the past several years (e.g. from Amazon) will automatically play in iTunes. I don’t know where one would even obtain a .wma file that is *not* DRM protected. Also, I did try a download.com app (SmartConverter) for the same purpose and it too would not convert the .wma files from my CDs. Like this app, it did not specify the reason why. Anyways, I think the creators of this app should note online that this converter will *not* work for .wma files that come from DRM-protected content such as CDs. My apologies as the statements above are a bit out of order, but I am unable to cut/paste within this text. Show more

    Good enough
It works. Can’t set quality for compressed formats. Better off just sending it to iTunes as AIFF and then converting to your chosen format.

    Terrific App!!
The more I use AudioTunes, the more impressed I am by it — smooth operation, easy-to-use, fast, and functionally accurate. My only question is “Why does this app not cost more?”, it’s certainly worth more than what’s being charged! Show more

    Great App
Simple Interface, does what it needs to for $2.00. It would be nice to set MP3 bitrate a little higher than 192 but whatevs. Great app

Some flaws, but works well with no fuss
Very easy to use, but v. 1.5.0 still won’t let you set the bitrate of MP3s (it’s locked at 192 kbps) or alter settings for other output formats. There's no online help yet, and the properties dialog for input files only tells you what you already know. It lets you move the play-progress slider when no file is selected (it should be disabled), and track durations aren’t always displayed correctly. The most annoying thing is that the application title (as displayed in the menu bar) should just say “AudioTunes” instead of “AudioTunes - FLAC, APE, WMA converter,” which is way too long for the menu bar. But those are all minor issues, and other than all that, it’s great! Definitely worth $2 for the ease-of-use alone, without question. Show more
