This app looks abandoned, and for me, buggy
I want to be nice because I know these i-apps are not big money makers for smaller developers. Midiflow has (imo) a fantastic feature set, and once you get to know how it’s organized, it’s pretty easy and quick to set up a patch for very detailed and complicated scenarios. I bought the app, then paid for all the IAPs. I should have checked here and on his forum first. Johannes seems to have abandoned this program. When it works, it’s great, but it’s unstable. It crashes a lot, right after I edit a song. I save the song (overwrite), switch to another song, crash - and when I go back to the song I was editing, all the edits I made before saving it are gone! Make the edits again, save (overwrite), then save an extra copy (with a different name) as a backup. Switch songs, crash. Once again my edits are gone, AND the backup song I saved is gone too! To say this is extremely frustrating is an understatement! I know this isn’t the place for bug reports but as someone else mentioned, Johannes’s forum is locked and the most recent post there is over a year old as of this writing. I got an automated response to an email I tried sending to the admin of his forum saying “we don’t respond to emails, ask on the forum”, lol. The last update to this program is a year ago. All this to say I’m disappointed that I can’t recommend this app, as great as the features are. I play music for a living and was hoping to take this and my iPad on stage with me. I’m honestly not sure what I’m gonna do. Things do seem to be working when I’m not trying to save songs, and I already have many hours invested learning the app and programming the presets for the gig I’m doing. More stress testing I guess, once I have the programming finished. I probably shouldn’t update my iPad’s OS now, no telling what will happen! Show more

    Useful, but no support
Good set of features for managing your MIDI chain on IOS, but if you run into a bug or have a question there is no response, and the community forum is locked Show more

Pricing too complicated, does not work with AUM
The title says it all. You get the app then you have to start buying all the bits and pieces individually, and you really don't know which ones you need because info is very cryptic written for engineers not musicians. Additionally it does not work inside AUM.... or at least I did not find a way of making it show. A true pity because it should be a very useful app..... Great idea, poor implementation. It happens frequently when you fall in love with coding and do not listen or check your software with the end users. Show more

    Excellent MIDI router for iOS
Midiflow is a focused, full-featured, and efficient app for routing MIDI data among devices connected to an iOS tablet/phone. It is intuitive to setup, and basically worked straight away. The fact that it runs in the background is a crucial feature for any MIDI routing app. Setup and use case is this: Three MIDI-capable devices on a USB hub connected to my iPad Pro via the camera connection kit. Devices include: a digital mixer, a programmable MIDI foot switch, and a DMX lighting controller that has 5-pin (DIN) MIDI In port connected to the USB hub via a USB<->DIN MIDI controller cable. A multitrack audio app sends digital audio to the mixer and midi note instructions to DMX controller. MIDI foot switch needs to send MIDI note and CC commands to the audio app, digital mixer, and DMX lighting controller. As is, only the audio app properly receives and sends MIDI data, since it is acting as a MIDI host app the iOS device; but, the app does provide MIDI thru/router functions to forward the MIDI data to other destination devices. Enter, Midiflow. Midiflow is setup to receive MIDI data from the foot switch and forward these commands also to the mixer and DMX controller devices. Works perfectly! This is a rather simple use case, but good demonstration of Midiflow’s critical function. Add to this its ability to also transform MIDI data while routing it to the proper destinations, while running as a background app on iOS... Just perfect! Show more

Does not search for nearby devices
When I try to search for nearby devices, the app closes. I bought for two iPads in case one of them was wrong. The app does not work on none of them. Show more

    Good stuff
Kudos to this developer for making a pro app. my midi needs are modest. I’m use to workstations like the Motif, montage, etc. Mostly I just want to play 3-4 sounds at a time. Piano, Rhodes, strings or synth pad stacked and key bass on the left when needed—-no sustain pedal on the bass——all from the same controller too. This is so simple on stage pianos.. I usually don’t write reviews but this is what music tech on iOS should be. This is a GREAT app...seriously has me thinking that this +AUM=Mainstage for IOS! Plays great with AUM btw. Thanks for making this! Show more

    Fantastic
This app is so flexible, well designed and well documented too. Thanks.

Great utility sort of midi app
Love it. Only gripe is I would love a dark mode. Very white and bright

good app but showing age and too many IAPs
I’ve used this for a few years and it’s very handy. But it’s IAPs have bloated from 2 to too many. There is a bundle available, but it doesn’t include all the IAPs. Time for a major overhaul. Show more

Great app for modifying MIDI signals
I was able to change the output of my keyboard’s velocity to CC41 for my Korg Volca. Pretty awesome!

    Beautiful App for MIDI Interfaces
This app does exactly what it purports to do. It provides the essential MIDI port routing that is missing from iOS and most USB hardware MIDI interfaces. Plus, it continues running in the background while doing so. I have a Midisport 4x4 interface connected to my iPad via USB camera adaptor. Now this by itself is useless: You might have a couple controllers and synths plugged in to the interface, but there is no default internal routing in the Midisport. You need to provide this yourself on your USB host. Usually this is easy enough if you're connecting to a Mac or PC, but not so with an iPad. That's where Midiflow comes in. In addition, you can add filters and all this complicated stuff in the routing paths. In my case, this provides a crucial ability to clean MIDI clock and other noise coming from my controller keyboard. Thank you Johannes, and I hope you earn a decent income from your well-crafted suite of iOS MIDI apps. I'll be following you on Github and Twitter :) Show more

    No more support
Purchased for gigs recently, but developer hasn't responded (2 weeks ago). Need companion app MIDI SPLITTER older version for iOS 9.3.4.

    Fantastic!!!
Hands down the most usable, versatile, and complete midi tool for iOS.

    Connecting old to new
I have a older arranger keyboard with midi din and another keyboard controller with Bluetooth. Through this app I am able to interconnect. It is easy to understand. Had to purchase a couple add ons, but well worth the extra 3 bucks! Show more

    Solid Live MIDI Solution
This app is great for controlling many MIDI hardware devices and apps at the same time. I just wish that more features of MIDIFlow were controllable with external hardware, such as switching soft synth routes and transpositions on and off without having to incrementally change presets. Ideally, I wish I could use this app for all my setup and routing before a gig, and during the show as a monitor only, and use hardware to do everything in live performance situations. Show more

    Fantastic Midi Router
This app is superb for routing midi between apps and external keyboards or other input devices. Want to invert your keyboard to map high notes to the left and low to the right? Enable only the black keys? Use notes one a keyboard to send program changes? Remap midi channels, create velocity switch layers, key zones? In short you can do just about anything you can imagine with midi data that your keyboards or apps cannot do on their own, thereby giving added flexibility and function to devices with limited features. For example, a keyboard with only one zone that sends on one midi channel can be configured to be split into any number of zones each going to its own unique midi channel and routed to any app. Midiflow is the midi control center on my iPad. I know of no other app that does what this app can. Show more

This is the best app ever !
Easy to use powerful utility and appears to be quite stable too. Has opened new frontiers.
