    Solved my problem
It seems really odd to me that there's no EQ native to MacOS. I've got a pretty nice pair of speakers on my desk and was frustrated by the poor bass. This app increased the bass, the overall quality of the sound. I've got a weird hearing loss that drops out at strange frequencies, and the app allows me to compensate for that nicely. Anyway. Worth every penny. Show more

    DOESN'T WORK
If you have OS version 12.0.1. Don't even try. Feedsback from the micrphone and why does it need access to the microphone in the first place? I've been using this for years. I bummed to say the least. Show more

    Beware
I downloaded this for my Mac laptop. At first it was great. I liked it a lot. And then it began screwing up my audio. It would not allow sound to come out of the laptop or cam (my other sound options), only speakers. I could not uninstall it. The company has an uninstaller (you hve to search the web for it) but the script is from 2014 and did not work. Also I did not get replies from tech support. So I swallowed the $40 I paid, used a Macpaws uninstaller, and said goodbye. Folks, it's great until it's not. Caveat emptor Show more

    Free trial. Monthly sub required.
I don't mind paying for software that works. I do mind app developers who list apps as free, but they are not.

    Purchased the "Lifetime Pack"
Purchased the "Lifetime Pack" and now being told I have to pay for the 1 year pack to use. Ridiculous.

    Very Suspicious
Honestly, this app behaved very, very strange from the beginning so I did not use it and cannot comment on the audio capabilities. Suffice to say that I was looking for equalizer but there was not an obvious one. Immediately upon installation the app opened the web browser and asked me to subscribe for the paid version. In order to uninstall I had to download another app that asked me to make system changes (the installer did not do that). On top of that it did _NOT_ remove the app. I am doing a scan right now but the whole thing looked very, very strange. I would recommend not installing this one, it may be a trojan. Show more

    Was the Greatest App Ever...
Was being the key word. After this last update, this app is straight garbage. Constently crashes, “EQ” sounds like nails on a chalkboard and it doesn’t boost the volume like it used to before this update. 100% a money grab to get people to pay for an app again since this update ruined the orignial. F this company! Show more

it doesn't work well with M1 Macs
I bought this app when I was using an intel Mac and was magical. I upgraded to a Mac M1 and now it crashes, freezes apps, force restart to my Mac etc... It's a freaking nightmare now Show more

    Frustrating
I purchased this to be able to adjust some old MP3 files I had. The trial worked but seemed like there were functions not showing in the trial that I wanted (manual EQ for those files) so I purchased the lifetime version. I never use my Mac with just its built in speakers so that functionality doesn't matter to me. I mainly wanted to make older recordings sound like more modern recordings do when NOT on my Mac. Issues: There is no manual EQ for "File Mode". It just uses a slider for the intensity of its auto mode. In file mode, All ID3 tags, metadata, album art, etc are lost. You just end up with a file that is named after the artist and album. For saving, there is no ability that I can find to customize the bitrate settings of the file. Its always VBR 128. Lastly, I contacted support last week via email and have not heard any response or even recognition that they received my help request. The only reason it has 2 stars is it did seem to sound pretty good for using it with the computer speakers like its main focus is. It seems like the feature I really wanted is just an afterthought they threw in but never fully finished putting together. Show more

    Doesnt do anything
Installed, restarted, calibrated, hooked up my DT770s, fiddled with EQ - nothing. No discernable change in sound no matter how extreme I adjusted the controls. If there is something I am missing, then it is buried to deep to be a usable application. Show more

Every release is slower and less stable
I'm finally giving up on Boom 2. Over the time that I've used it, every single update has made it slower, less stable, and more buggy. The team seems to want to waste their time maintaining a "cute" animated UI instead of just using standard, intuitive macOS controls and focusing on stability and performance. I could tolerate this for a while because most of the time you don't have to interact with the UI except maybe to change between EQ presets. And the bugs...such as NEVER remembering the set boost volume and always jumping to max after a restart...were somewhat tolerable. Well the latest version is so sluggish that the simple task of switching EQ presets or adjusting the volume is now a nightmare. For the record, this is on a quad core i7. A responsive UI should not be a challenging task. Worse, it crashes all day long. It seems like every time I sleep my MacBook or just walk away for a short time, I have to come back and re-launch Boom 2 because it has crashed. Time to try a competitor. I won't tolerate this bug show any more. Show more

Wish they added a default output
I wish they added a feature to set a default output such as auxiliary port if plugged, or HDMI.

    Was great until...
They introduced a yearly subscription model. Now the features I had with the version I paid for as an upgrade are gone. Not cool.

    Boom. More like Bust
Didn't load after download. I downloaded it a second time. Same thing. And uninstaling what is on my mac is a pain. I'm out the cost. Just be warned.

Unusable with HDMI monitor on a Macbook
Confuses the sound settings on a Macbook so badly that it is almost impossible to get sound when connected to an HDMI monitor that has speakers. Sounded great until then, but useless with my new 4k monitor. Show more

Incredible. Even works for external speakers!
I’ve had this app installed on my 2015 MBP for a couple of years now at this point. I can’t really find any complaints. The application is very well put together and I love the unique effect presets. It makes both internal and external speakers sound twice their size and quality. Show more
