This app has had terrible reliability for way too long. If it worked it would be great. I have tried with several instamics and several phones, all with the most up to date firmware and app, and 75% of the time it crashes when you hit record through the app. This is terrible software which is a shame because I would love instamic if it worked consistently. This app is good but definitely feels very beta. They greeted out button at the end is really pointless - I don’t understand why they have a button just to tell you that new features are “coming”. Please get rid of that. Also - an important function that is missing is the ability to listen to recorded files! You still have to connect the Instamic to a computer for that. I can also never quite get the monitoring to work even after pairing it with Bluetooth (you essentially have 2 Bluetooth connections to this device). Show more

iPhone 7, latest OS. New Instamic, latest firmware. App opens, connects to instamic, a green check appears, and instantly crashes. Couldn’t use it on my last shoot and not going to be able to use it this weekend either. Likely to return. Show more

These little mics are so useful and the app makes using them even easier. They capture amazing audio in a very compact and versatile form factor. We use them in our recordings of weddings and have found them to be true lifesavers. We ended up buying a total of four of these little mics. Highly recommend. Show more

App crashes when trying to connect to Instamic. Yes I’ve upgraded the firmware. Yes I’ve tried it more than once. Yes I’ve deleted the app on my phone and reinstalled to make sure it’s up to date. I’m about to return both of these mics I bought. Show more

Make sure you update the firmware. If you can’t get it on your own contact customer support. Now that it’s all working I am very happy with the mic. The sound quality on the upper end frequencies is the only issue I have at the moment. You can adjust them in post production though. There is really nothing else out there quite like this mic. It’s really nice when you need it. Show more

Cannot acquire firmware it’s been 2 weeks and still haven’t been able to get the update. For some reason my S/N is “already taken” and I’ve been in contact with customer service with no avail, I feel like I’m being strung along. The point of this review to to hopefully catch the eye of someone so I can finally get this fixed. Cheers! Show more

I get 2.5hrs of battery on both of my instamics. And the indicator will be off by as much as 40% as to how much battery I have left. I’ve followed the support tickets suggestions to fix it but no dice and they haven’t responded in 10 days, today is sept 27 2018. Otherwise this is a good product. But I don’t rely on it, backup only bc of battery issues and plenty of people saying it stops recording on its own. I’ve also had that happen. Show more

Since I purchased my instamic I have used the app and never had any issues. Love all the features it offers. Can’t wait to see what great updates are to come.

Instantly crashes on iPhone X when you try and connect the mic. UPDATE: The reason it crashes is because the Instamic needs a firmware update to work with the latest app. This is easy but it was not clear. When I complained about the problem I. Instamics Facebook page they were very responsive and are also going to implement a pop up in the app to let us know when a firmware update is needed. They are working hard to make the experience better. Show more

Crashes after connecting to Instamic

Don’t get this. I was recommended it to use as back up audio for events and I not only wait 15 days from when it “shipped” (missing 3 events I wanted it for) once I got it, the very next day at a wedding it crashed. They told me to update the firmware which I have and it’s still crashing. Everything up to date. Only causes a headache. Not worth the time and definitely not the money. Show more

Newest.... I updated software and firmware and still the same issues as listed below. In addition the iPad app is not updated. Mics sound very bright... still testing with all sorts of different sound sources. Problem is with this app. With 1 mic it works as described monitoring levels and everything as in the YouTube video. When a second mic is added to this app monitoring disappears as an option and level control is not addressable to each mic. So if you have a drum mic and a piano mic within this app you will be changing both levels when one source is too loud. Monitoring is laggy I think it is the nature of Bluetooth. I look forward to working with these mics as an alternative to the continual shrinking of the wireless spectrum. Show more

Latest version crashes as soon as I connect. Firmware is up to date.

Monitoring is laggy, can't monitor several mics at once, can't edit several mics, and to top it off the mics themselves take 5 seconds to start recording. Fix this app please Show more

This mic and app have completely replaced all other mics we used to use for recording class lectures at our school. In the past we used expensive, high end Sennheiser lavs along with a receiver and a mixing board to maintain correct levels. The instamic has replaced all of that and there is no quality loss, and at a fraction of the cost and none of the elaborate care taking of an expensive sensitive wireless mic. This was a no brainer and has been every bit as good as it promised to be. Show more
