    Seriously worth every penny
It is a powerful metronome that has made my life better. It is allowing me to practice ideas in ways that I have not been able to. For example: I can take a standard, play a chord on a eighth note and rip melodic ideas, then change melodic focus at the next measure in relationship to the next chord, and play that chord for an eight note. In other words chord on beat two, melodic, new melodic center, new chord beat two. I can do this now and know that I am hearing it right because the metronome is saying the numbers. Before I would have to trust my feel. Now I can check. (Every now and again I am wrong but, I was doing better then I thought). Downside is with power comes a learning curve. I feel that what I am getting out of this app is well worth my time spent in understanding it. Awesome Show more

    Nothing like it
For drummers - Once you figure out what it can do, I guarantee it will blow your mind.

    Incredible app, stellar support!
If you can think of it, Polynome can do it! . It is fully compatible with Audiobus and integrates well with so many other apps. Since I discovered Polynome I completely stopped using tradicional metronomes. There is a learning curve to it, but the app has a ton of built in guides , tutorials and examples. Polynome will take your practice and experience to the next level. Support is great, the developer is truly committed and over the couple of years I’ve used this app, he has always helped me answering questions and providing guidance. I use it to practice my bass playing, one of my kids with his guitar and the other with his drums. We are all so happy to have found this app. Show more

This must be graphically optimized for a larger screen
I have an iPhone12 and small fingers. Yet when I try to stop the metronome and click on help so I can watch the videos to learn how to use it, it starts the metronome clicking again! I just wasted an hour I didn’t have fighting with what seems like click accuracy issues. Show more

Made for Drummers, by a drummer!!!! The Best!
This is by far the best metronome for serious drummers. It enables better practice routines and focus on specific skills. Furthermore, its great for gigging in terms of getting the BPM in your head or even programming the intro groove to listen to listen to a few bars before clicking the band in. My band has a library of over 200 songs, so this is very helpful to me. Lastly, Joe has dedicated his passion for drumming and excellence into this app. and continues to find ways to enhance it. Thank you Joe! Show more

    Unrivaled capabilities
Take any metronome you’ve seen or used and multiply that by 10, no maybe 100 and that’s the functionality of this incredible app. It can be a simple time keeper or the mist complex (poly)rhythm generator and metronome you can imagine…and everything in between. Any serious drummer or rhythm-based musician SHOULD have and use this. It’s always at your fingertips if you load it on your phone. Thus APP is not only incredible but Joe had been maintaining and improving it constantly for years. If I could give if 10 stars I would. It’s CLEARLY the most valuable “tool” I have for improvement. It seriously rivals YouTube itself as a tool for improvement. Does it have any weaknesses? I’ve not found any but there are 2 things I’ve noted. Thus APP had so much flexibility that you’ll want to go through the tutorials (also excellent) to fully understand and leverage this incredible app. Everyone wants to just dive in and use this, and it’s intuitive enough to do that. But watching the tutorials is a great time investment. Do it. Secondly, and this is not a fault of PolyNome, I’ve experienced audio latency issues when listening with Bluetooth earbuds. It’s a Bluetooth issue, but also the only frustration I’ve encountered. The Bluetooth audio is accurate, just slightly delayed and out of sync with the visual screen depiction of the rhythm played. You don’t experience this using the internal speaker of your phone or IPAD. Show more

When you need more than just a click
If you need more than just a simple metronome, then PolyNome is the best app to reach for. I have tried many metronome apps over many years; I find PolyNome is the most feature rich and best supported metronome app in the App Store. The developer is very engaged and responsive. There is a learning curve, but once you understand how to create rhythms and grok the concept of combining presets and playlists, then it becomes easy to create exercise-specific or song-specific metronome patterns to support your practice. The ability to map sounds to clicks, choosing from a huge sound library, and to create drum kit sequences, and even layering rhythmic patterns. The possibities are endless. And once you have a library of metronome pattern playlists you'll be able to move through a practice session smoothly, without getting bogged down fiddling with your metronome settings. I tried a quite a few otheer metronome apps that aspire to be a flexible and powerful rhytmic pattern editor and player. The all fell short in some important way. I was relieved to discover PolyNome and find that it does everything I need, and everything I think I will ever need from a metronome app. If you need more than a simple click, and if you want to stop fiddling repeatedly with metronome settings while practicing, if you have started thinking "maybe I need to by a drum machine instead of a metronome app", then getting PolyNome, and investing some upfront time to get up the learning curve, is highly recommended. Amazing
This metronome makes sure you’re feeling the beat. Absolutely love it and nothing comes close.

    Awesome Program!
If you’re a up and coming drummer taking lessons or even an advanced drummer this is a must have!! I cannot believe it took me this long to find it and make a decision on buying the app. So many possibilities on here it’s crazy. I use it on my iphone currently and will eventually move to an ipad but it is addicting once you start digging into it. I plan on using this for my gig this Saturday for the first time and I am excited to use it. The idea of adding swing to the song will make it feel lime it should. Kudos to you all for this wonderful app!! Best $21 and change I’ve spent in a while! Show more

    Exceptional functionality…Way too complicated…
There needs to be a simpler way to get up to speed with basic functionality…

    Really full featured!
Exactly what I was looking for. Multiple set lists with the BPM, sounds, different time signatures, etc. In some cases, I just use a 4 or 8 found to remind me of the tempo pre-song and in other songs, I play to a click the whole time. I love the flexibility and customization. There is a fairly steep learning curve (at least for me) but the vids help a ton. It’s well worth putting in the time. Show more

Fantastic app but you I couldn’t get auto voice count on normal version so I decided to go for pro, and now I’ll have to pay for subscription to access it

Great App !! Versatile metronome with tons of features.

Bait & switch app & a clunky mess
Let me try this again. I’ve submitted several reviews since the subscription model & curiously none have appeared here. This is the epitome of a bait & switch app. Initially paid for the app & now half the functionality & features are gone unless you upgrade. Times are tough & folks need $, but this is a very dishonest practice. All that on top of a clunky UI that makes for a productive nightmare. The core features are great but you end up spending too much time trying to simply navigate & arrange things vs. practicing/fleshing out ideas. Have never understood why it’s so entirely difficult to use. Show more

Horribly complicated and then my purchase is deprecated to support a new subscription model
Though I'm not a drummer, apps like this interest me. What drew me to it was that someone had programmed Zappa's The Black Page into it and it looked fairly accurate. So I was intrigued. I buy the app and then find out that the Black Page thing he's using to advertise the app is something I have to pay extra for. Disappointing, but whatever. I'm happy to have something I might be able to do my own version. But the method of programming things into this, chaining measures together and other weird contortions, is really becoming as much work as learning a new instrument. I don't want to spend all my time learning a tool that will assist me in doing what I want to do, playing music with progressive rhythm. Then, shortly after making my purchase of the app, the developer announces that he's switching to a subscription model and that my original purchase will basically be deprecated and to continue to benefit from application improvements, I will need to pony up a monthly fee or I would have to buy a lifelong subscription that costs 4 or 5 times what I originally paid for the app. So based on that experience, I don't really think this app is worth it. You Need PolyNome
Polynome is for me a life-changing app. By using it I have finally begun to get my head wrapped around polymeters, claves, odd meters, and even just new ways to think about straight meters. For years I have been using physical and software metronomes that are no more advanced than the Mälzel metronome Beethoven used. Joe Crabtree's Polynome app helps me to decode the most complex of rhythms. Yet it can also help one with the most basic of practice regimes, such as steadily increasing the tempo while working through a melodic phrase using "playlists" that are straightforward to program. Polynome can also serve as a performer's tool by providing rhythmic cues for a performance set. While I have yet to work with the Konnakol capabilities of Polynome, it is reassuring that Joe has built that functionality into the app. As a user of apps, one thing I look for is how often a developer updates their app(s) and the level of support. Though Joe is an individual developer, he regularly adds features to Polynome. He also keeps it current with the latest iOS releases. Furthermore, his level of personal support is undeniably superb. The other day I sent a message to Joe asking about whether it was possible to create a certain practice regime using Polynome. Not only did he rapidly respond, he attached a video to show me some possible ways to tackle the question I had posed. While I could never reasonably expect a developer to respond in such a way, especially if they were inundated with inquiries, the fact that Joe did so blows me away. Not only do I recommend Polynome as an app one should use, I suggest you look into the training material Joe has, such as his class for the "Key Counting Method" for understanding odd time meters. It is illuminating. Furthermore, support Joe through his Patreon account. Joe Crabtree is the kind of musician / developer we need to support. Show more

    Incredibly Helpful for Guitar!
This tool is great for learning guitar licks that have complex rhythms. It is also very helpful as a standard metronome but much better because you can choose actual drum sounds for the different sub divisions. Very flexible and very powerful! Show more

Must have for any musician, especially in the rhythm section
This app is an invaluable practice tool that will help you improve. Easily worth the price tag. I dont know if there exists a physical metronome with this many possibilities but if there were you could be sure it would be 10x the price of this app. This is a steal Show more

Incredibly Deep Tool for any Musician
This app is simply incredible. Any rhythm you can think of can be combined with another. It's such a deep tool that goes into the depths of rhythm. Would definitely recommend the Pro version as its packed with extra features. The "subscription" thing was a bit confusing at first but the developer cleared it up for me in a support email in about 10 min. Amazing support. ?? If you're a drummer like me, then you should own this app. Show more
