    Dear Developer
I opened up your app again today because I have always wanted to take advantage of what it offers. I’ve owned it for years, but the frustration it caused always defeated my efforts to sort it out. However, I have an exciting project that really needs a human feel and a realistic acoustic sound, so I was determined to finally understand how to use your app. And, with hours of effort, I finally started to piece together enough information from the manual and quick guide to begin to feel like it’s going to eventually all make sense. Not enough to actually do what I want yet, but enough to feel confident that I’ll get there. That’s when I decided I’m never going to recommend your app, and I’m going to try to find an alternative as soon as I finish this review. Because once I started to see how it works, I realized that you could have just explained and demonstrated it it to your users in a few thoughtfully constructed tutorials. Or you could have introduced improvements to the interface. Or—given the number of years since the app was originally released—you could have done both. So, congratulations. DrumPerfect Pro isn’t the only music app that I found challenging to learn, but it is the only one that made me feel contempt for its creator. Your app is an insult to musicians whose time should be spent making music, not untangling some mad developer’s brain (while paying for the privilege). You should be embarrassed and ashamed. Overly complicated
Okay. I just got the stock kits to trigger with a Roland Octapad spd- 30, so I decided to move forward with the app. I soon discovered there’s no easy way to disable pattern play, and simply play kits live. I poked around and erased the patterns, but upon a reboot I’m back to digging around on how to disable. Next, I decided to purchase the rock kit (demos of all kits not loading BTW) and I can’t figure out where to access the new kit. Where the new kit I just purchased? It’s seeming like this is way more complicated than it needs to be. I’ll be looking for a refund soon, cause I don’t have time for endless futzing Show more

    Feature request
Hi I absolutely love the app the only thing I am missing is the ability to select all the midi patterns at once or multiple ones at that and export them all at once but separated files for each pattern. Could this be a feature? Thank you for your time. Show more

Historically love the app, but experiencing frustrating crashes
I am having a crashing issue every time I hit the load button on the song tab. Running iPad Pro 9.7” iOS 14.3. Please help!

    Extremely Difficult
I’ve been using pro audio at major label and arena concert levels for decades. There is nothing intuitive out the layout and the graphical user interface. Eq’s and compressors and such are not located in the mixer page which runs contrary to every audio mixer design since the 40’s. Simply peaking at the drum samples causes a destructive edit of the drum kits. MIDI defaults only to channel 10 and not Omni like every piece of midi gear in the past 40’s years. I could go on but why bother. There is practically no decent internet tutorials. The few that do exist have a very think foreign accents further exacerbating the frustration of the user experience. I can’t recommend this program. Just use Garage band. It’s free and there’s little this offers over it. Show more

    Love it
So far this is the best drum app for IOs I have used so far. Once I got past the learning curve of the workflow this app has just been solid! Customer service was there when I need it, thx Marinus! Show more

Good app with quite a bit of depth.
Yes, it does take a bit to learn and there isn’t a whole lot of demo videos on this app, but once you get the hang of the layout, it is not that complicated and it is quite fun programming new patterns and songs, just spend a couple hours with it. I do feel Drum Perfect Pro is underrated but could use a few things to really make this app shine. Some features are kind of hidden like live view drum kit and the effects section isn’t the most clear. The drums are decent with multi samples and velocity layers for getting a real drummer sound but not great. I feel like some of the Tom sounds fall short and that the developer can do better with included kits and with making more kits available to choose from. I must say that I do like some of the crashes a lot and hi-hats though. But as far as kicks and snares I would like to see more along with better sounding toms. It’s not very straightforward if you want to import your own midi drum loops, I’ve tried several things and when I finally was able to get a couple into the app, they didn’t play anything. Maybe the mapping is different but there should be the option to change mappings as seen in other apps. The included loops are alright but there isn’t a whole lot without in app purchases. There’s definitely room for improvement but the developer seems to be interested in keeping this app going based on the version history so I look forward to new features and hope they come soon. It’s always exciting to me to look under updates in the App Store and see an app I like with new features. Show more

Just Want To Beat The Drum All Day...thank you
UPDATE 04/23/2019: The initial (quick) developer response got my DPPro wired up in AUM as a Audio Unit Extension. I have not run the combo for more for a few minutes now, but I wanted to get back to this quickly and add some stars. If things seem to keep working I'll buy some more drum packs and add at least another star.... I searched through the DPPro v.3 manual and I would not have found an answer to my original confusion. I might have stumbled upon the solution by chance or never have even encountered the problem if I had not been looking for AUE functionality from the get go. So all I can suggest is the developer reflect the changing nature of the iOS digital music 'eco-system' and add a blurb in the manual for ignorant new users primarily interested in AUE superpowers. As an aside to drum-beat AUE developers in general I'd just like to say I have not been impressed with the stability of the Beater's overall stability when left running in my typical long-playing "generative/randomized" music scenario. The 'big-name' popular synths are stable and can run for days without fail but the AUE capable little-beaters often don't get through the night. ORIGINAL 04/21/2019: Complete fail to work as Audio Unit Extension. Following Version 3 manual instructions fails to load any presets. The iPad image showing loaded presets is not happening on my iOS 12.2 iPad Pro at the moment. Attempts to drive DPPro as the proffered image suggests with PolyPhase (etc) has not worked either. As iOS and AU are moving targets I'll wait and see if DPPro gets its poop-in-a-group. That's what usually happens with music apps at least. The DPPro seems to work as a stand alone app, but, I was looking for a drum machine that was actually stable when running as an Audio Unit Extension when I paid my money. Until the iPad image promising Audio Unit Extension integration with AUM actually works as advertised I would say avoid DrumPerfect Pro v.3 as of mid April 2019. Hope to be able to revise my star rating upward in the future if updates correct at least the main complaint I have. Show more

The Most Powerful & Flexible Drum Machine App
I patiently waited until more velocity layers were added, and my patience was rewarded! First of all, DrumPerfect Pro incredibly flexible, with features that aren't found in ANY other drum machines. Unusual tuplets can be assigned on each track individually, and per beat if desired. Tempo can be assigned per pattern, and the entire song's tempo can be scaled up or down relative to the individual pattern tempos. The included sounds are great. The convolution reverb sounds wonderful. And there are newer features dealing with tempo, dynamics and humanize functions. The GUI is pretty stoic, and the workflow can be a bit tedious, compared to other more simple drum machine apps. As a very powerful and deep drum machine, it must be challenging to balance all the factors that make it powerful against those to make it easier/quicker. If you are an intrepid explorer of new and exotic rhythms, get this (and get Metronomics, too). Show more

    *updated review**Five Stars!
Update 2 It was my fault that I couldn’t use the app correctly. The developer was very responsive and guided me through. Now this app functions as I needed it to, and far exceeds that expectations. Highly Recommended! Update Bought this app to play my own midi drum tracks but I guess the drum track was too large the app couldn’t handle it correctly, hence the review. Otherwise basic app functionality seems to be there as advertised. Show more

    Great sound packs...
This is a high quality app with excellent iap loop sound packs. However, it is not user friendly. As a professional recording engineer and years of having this app, I still can’t get it to work and with the new update, version 3.0.1, the graphics on the top 2 sections of the app “Pattern, Grid, Kits, Songs, Pads, etc.” and the section right below it are now blurred. Please correct and have a Spring sale on your iap’s please. I can then upgrade my review to 5 stars. Thank you in advance for listening to your customers! -Sincerely, AprilRox of AprilRox Studios ? Nice but amateurish
Lots of great drumming to be had, but UX is a mess and developer seems doggedly determined to go it alone. Bad manual. This is not for those who have limited time and patience. Show more

As powerful as a desktop VST plugin!
I just discovered DPP and decided to pick it up, thinking OK, my expectations aren't very high, because most drum apps on iOS don't really cut it for professional productions, unless you're into electronic music. Boy was I wrong! DPP is so deep, it easily rivals the best VST plugins on desktop machines. Be ready however for a learning curve. This is not one of those apps you just pick up and get going with in five minutes (although it's actually very straight forward once you get the hang of how things are laid out and handled). The sounds are very decent, but I prefer to use my own Samples, giving me a good cross-platform compatibility with my desktop DAWs. Overall, DPP is an amazing drum app, not only for real drums, but also percussion (available as iAP) or electronic drums, making it a great all-round Drum app. Great work! Show more

The Best, Unequaled, A Serious Real Drum Machine
TL;DR: There is nothing better for iOS. This is THE app for those looking for more than EDM robotic drums. Human feel, nuance, high quality user samples... It’s the real deal. Linear interpolation is a great, realistic and efficient method employed by this developer for multilayered playback. In a very gracious move by the developer this app was opened up to iOS 10.3. This is by far the best app of its kind available. The updates in 2.22 appear to be (they are undocumented as of this writing) a mixer and the automatic creation of sample copies to fill all layers for each instrument one at a time through "Render." This does not modify the actual sound of the samples. In fact in my case it unfortunately caused phase problems when the samples were triggered simultaneously. It appends the name you have given the kit to the sample files. This is good I suppose if you want to identify your kit files but unless you change the articulation and sound of the actual samples it is the same as copying your existing samples into the empty slots. EQ, Compression, and ADSR, are excellent features. It appears that the settings for these are saved with the kit file and not written to the samples. There are still no improvements in file management, sharing, and backup. Long press on Kit allows you to zip up a complete original. You can't delete the factory sample sets and the default state can change without warning at times. The internal pads are uneven as the accelerometer registers different pressures depending on where on the screen glass you tap but you can work with it. I would love to see the developer add the option for Center or Top velocity to the pads as in Cubasis. You are going to find locating really high quality multilayer sample sets a challenge. All in all, a great program and my go-to for serious iPad only production. Show more

    Great!
This app is great. It does take time to learn, but offers great reward and benefits. There is quite a bit to successfully creating you own patterns, but the kits and patterns through IAP offer a quick start solution too. This app is feature rich and actually quite a value. Show more

Way to difficult to get good results.
This app needs much work to make it useful. It would benefit from a way to streamline the creative process.

    The best for realistic drums
If you want real sounding drums this is it; the best sounds and the best way to create your own rhythms and create drums for your compositions. It’s so much better than pre programmed loops! Also the ability to export the whole song with each drum as a separate wave file makes mixing a dream. I love it! Show more

    Looks good
After iOS 11 DrumPerfect stopped working, However, after update for iOS 11 it still needed a delete / re-install to get it to work. Will update rating again after I work with it some more. Show more
