I saw this on TikTok where it was advertised as a free music app to help with practicing. I’m a freshman in high school who has trouble finding the motivation to practice, and I was very excited to try this out. Turns out it isn’t free, and I have to pay almost $100 a year to unlock pieces. Every piece I clicked on said I had to unlock it. Since I’m pretty young, I don’t have my own income to purchase this, and my parents aren’t willing to. I just wish it was friendly for different age groups, and not just people with a stable income :( Show more

idk i thought it was so cool after seeing the advertisement. they don’t have a lot of composers the audio stops to make me pay for a trial and so does the excerpt, why have an excerpt of a piece anyways Show more

Would be fun if you didn’t have to spend $8 a month for some song that you could find the sheet music for on google. Seemed fun but the fact that it’s $8 and have to pay to do anything is annoying. Any free songs? Show more

The accompanying music is not conducive to learning, the main reason I bought this app was because I thought that it would provide example tracks so you actually know what you are supposed to sound like. As far as I’m concerned, until this feature is added this app is a waste of money Show more

As a music teacher, I do not get to practice on my primary instrument (trombone) as much. This app has AMAZING potential. My only criticism is that when adjusting the metronome and a fee other tools the app freezes and I have to exit out in order to get it to work again. If this bug can be fixed, the experience would be even better Show more

downloaded because i was really excited they had viola, immediately deleted because they had nothing for people who haven't played that long. at least the app looks nice.

When I saw this app on TikTok I was really excited and looking forward to try it out. I’m pretty sure the app was advertised as a free practicing app but when I went to go play an excerpt it ended and told me to join the free trial and then pay money afterwards. The accompaniment was off from the metronome and kept stopping and starting randomly. I was super disappointed and will not be using again. Show more

put some real jazz and chord changes

It’s getting harder and harder to find other classical musicians to play with these days. With Metronaut I can at least keep learning and practicing on my own time, in my own home, without spending tons of time or money obtaining sheet music and recordings. Show more

the app seems really good and being in marching band it would be helpful to use it, but i play baritone saxophone and it wasn’t as one of the options. if it was i would give this app a 5 definitely Show more

I think this concept of having play alongs for classical rep would be so great to practice with to prepare pieces and listens to you to you play and records you as well. You got every tool here you could want for a practice session. However for me to commit to a subscription and using this app any further as a saxophonist there needs to be more saxophone rep. Heiden sonata. Glazunov concerto just to name some. More standard rep classical players are expected to play would greatly boost this app into a must for every musician at every level Show more

This app is a great concept but is currently still too young as the selection of repertoire is not so large. I am hoping to see other great violin concertos such as Paganini violin concerto 1, Sibelius violin concerto, Brahms violin concerto, etc. I am glad there is at least Tchaikovsky violin concerto Show more

Is there a way to purchase access to the app completely? I know the yearly fee, but can you make an option to pay one large fee for permanent access?

Update 8/20/22: Nice to see continued quality updates from the dev team. Last year I participated in their beta program and many of the bugs I found and features I wanted have been addressed! The latest fantastic update is the addition of Playlists! There were so many pieces I added to my favorites, that the single favorites list became untenable. Now I can organize the pieces on my own terms and I’m so, so happy :-). Now, please, focus on licensing and adding new content; particularly romantic-era piano concertos! Thanks and keep up the great work! Update 8/13/21: It's so great when the product manager and developers are responsive! Finally, they have added Airplay 2 support in this latest version (+ 1 star)! Now, we just need more piano concertos ! :-) Update 8/5/21: The repertoire is getting better for piano (+ 1 star). Would still love to see more piano concertos! The accompaniment sounds great through my new Yamaha CLP-95GP, but for those with older pianos, it would still be great to see Apple AirPlay supported. Original Review: Please, please, please add more piano concertos. There are exactly two and it has been that way since the beginning. There are almost no pieces for piano; the pieces that are listed as Sonata forand piano always give the other instrument’s part, and not the piano accompaniment. Sigh...so want this to be great for piano, but it’s not yet, simply due to the lack of content. Also, please allow accompaniment to be played via Airplay. Would love to stream to my Sonos system. This is everything I could have wanted for fun regular practice!
